Hundley has put a lot of time and effort into developing as an NFL QB and preparing for this moment.
I believe in Hundley. I think he can get the job done and win some games.

Really looking forward to see how Brett does. My guess is the ability of the defense to hold up will be a bigger issue than the offense.

I think Bob is a Favre Fan First. So, why wouldn't he think the Packers could win a lot of games without Rodgers? He thought they could in '13 when AR broke the left clavicle.

Let the QB controversy begin. Those hoping we tank out because they want to draft in the top 15 for once are short sighted. The real hope is that this kid plays to potential and nets us a top 5 pick.

Expect Hundley to play well. Whether or not the defense can do enough to keep the game within reach is another thing altogether.
The outcome of today's game, and this season, should have more to do with the play of the defense and the offensive line than it will with the play of Brett....expect he will play well. After all the Packers have invested 3 years in him.
Looking back to the draft. TT moved up to get Hundley in the fifth, giving up a 5th (who NE turned into a long snapper who is still on the team) and a CB they cut. Given the choice, I'm glad Hundley "fell" into our lap.

Thought I'd see at least a veneer of competence with him and didn't even get that.
Doesn't throw a good long ball, but his short and intermediate passes are also mediocre. Loved the vision and instinct on the runs.

That's the problem of highlight videos, they show the highlights.
Hundleys performance today IMO:
+ Good pocket presence. Didn’t look rattled.
+ Stepped up well and made throws under pressure.
+ Evaded pressure well and showed off his running ability.
+ Protected the ball well and didn’t force throws or make bad decisions.
+ Accuracy and ball placement looked good IMO.
+ Passing fundamentals looked good, great footwork and mechanics.
+ Made some heady plays.
- Timing was off on deep throws.
- Progressions were slow and was late on his reads.
- Struggled with protection calls.
- Missed opportunities for audibles although perhaps MM wasn’t allowing that.
Overall I don’t think he embarrassed himself, but we need more. I don’t think the issues with the intermediate and deep throws are 100% on him. Hundley missed some opportunities, but McCarthy needed to give him better opportunities and the receivers needed to win 1 on 1’s more often. He looked like a young QB in his first start, the game will start slowing down for him and he will be able to go through his progressions and make his reads faster.
Grade: C+
It was his first start. It wasn't overly inspiring, but it was only his first start. I'll give the kid more time before I write him off. Obviously, we need to see more.

Struggles with all passes? no, but a lot of them.

I watched his drop back and his delivery, he’s not doing anything wrong, he’s jus out of sync with receivers. He looked like a QB who had only been throwing with these receivers for 5 days. All of his completions (as well as the drops), even against Minnesota, we’re placed exactly where they needed to be. He didn’t get helped out from receivers in completions, he made the throws. Other than the deep jump ball early in the game I didn’t see him make 1 other bad decision with the ball. There were at least 5 other opportunities he had to force the ball into tight coverage and he opted for scrambling or a throw away.
So he's throwing it to the right place, his receivers just aren't there when the ball arrives.
It's not like he is a rookie, McStupidface has had a lot of time to work on his ackuracy tallant

If so, it is a weakness of our offensive system, that if so sensitive to timing, that a QB has to put in many practice hours with starting receivers for it to be productive. Look at Moore for Fins yesterday, zero reps with starting receivers, comes in & scores 17 pts in 4th quarter.
I don't think it's a weakness at all in our system, it's the reality of every NFL offense. Rodgers has had 10 years with Jordy, 7 years with Cobb, 4 years with Adams, etc. He knows exactly where they will be. Matt Moore played in 5 games with Miami last year and got a lot of offseason reps with their #1 group while they took it easy with Tannehill. Hundley maybe has gotten 1 or 2 reps with the starts in each practice, that's not enough. So yeah you may think it's stupid Bong, but accuracy can be good and the route can be good, but the timing just isn't there yet. The answer can be that simple. If we were in week 17 and Hundley has had 2.5 months of work with these receivers to build that timing then I would say it's likely an accuracy issue.

Similar to his investment in Graham Harrell before he finally figured out he couldn't play. Sure hope this one turns out better.
I’d do two things ASAP to help Hundley.
1. Make sure Mays is active every week from here on out. I don’t know if Ty is hurt more than anyone is saying but his mojo at RB is MIA right now. Every time he takes a handoff he instantly wraps both arms around the ball. So he’s either thinking about not fumbling or protecting ribs that aren’t 100%. Neither of those are what you want a RB thinking about. Mays might be the best short yardage option on the team. Best RB rotation in GB today is Jones and Mays.
2. Allison needs more snaps. I don’t know how many total snaps Geronimo got yesterday. My guess is less than 10. I do know that when he was in Hundley went right to him. That’s familiarity that Hundley needs until he breaks his water in the pocket. Allison had the longest completion in the game yesterday. Then he had a drop and didn’t see the field again. I’m not sure why you take away a security blanket away from Hundley when he’s familiar with him and obviously targeted him immediately.
2b. Screen game. It’s not easy to execute a well designed screen play. But it’s not as diabolically hard as Green Bay made it look yesterday either.
2c. Fire Dom Capers.

He dumped the ball pretty fine, but if isolating to downhill throws, there wasn't a lot there to be encouraged about.
