Was just on the phone w/ my bro who is a part owner of the Red Sox and a huge hedge fund manager (very well connected guy) and he just told me that reports are out that Favre has retired!! Very bittersweet...the best thing for the Packers but I'm very sorry I'll never see him throw a pass again.

I can understand perfectly your skepticism but give me credit for the scoop when it's confirmed, OK.

What should we do to you if it turns out to be false?

I guess that opens up a little more cap room.
Alright, more cap room that we won't spend.

Wrong. If Favre does indeed retire, the Packers will be something $15 million below the salary FLOOR. They will be required to spend that money per the CBA.

Timesfour.com is reporting that longtime poster eastcoastbacker's, very well connected bro, states that Brett Favre is set to retire. We will keep you informed of any further developments.

Now it's official
Well played, Turks

ecb - I'll give you props if there is an announcement today... otherwise, anyone can speculate on this. We are one week away from the draft and the odds are getting better everyday that we will hear from Favre on this subject.

Somebody let Brett know that he's been retired by Red Sox ownership.

I see the problem now - "Farve to retire", not Favre
Whatever guys...make fun. I was talking to my brother about something completely unrelated when someone called him on another line with the news. He told me obviously not knowing that I was gonna post it on some packer website that he has no knowledge of. I simply stated his credentials because he's not some avg. joe like me for example. He makes a ton of money thru the gathering of information and he has many sources and talks to many influential people all day long. let's see if there isn't an announcement sometime later today.

He's well connected, so then who told him? Don't tell us you didn't ask.

There may be some truth to that statement.

Favre also described Terrell Owens, who played at Chattanooga, as a “phenomenal player, we all think that.”

He added: “I don’t know if there is a player out there who is as dominant as he is, when he wants to be. I know he can’t be covered. He is his own worst enemy or has been.

“But would I have loved to have signed him? Sure.”

Which players would that be, PeeWee Reese or Eddie Gaedel.

Mostly he talks to hitters.

Hey Brett, you have a mini-TO on your very own team. Reach out to him instead of whining about not getting the original a-hole.

What a great statement. Favre needs to think about how bad it could have been with T.O. on the team.
