That's good news, CJ.   I'm hoping things return to normal for your child and the school.

However, we know that all schools are vulnerable.   Actually, always have been.     I

t's just been the last few years or so where mentally-ill people know they can get high profile coverage is if they attack children at a school.    The only way to fully protect a school is to have armed guards at each school....and...that will never happen.

You have to trust that your school district has emergency procedures in place.  I know our school district has ramped up emergency procedures to the point that we are much safer now that we've every been....just short of having an armed guard at every school site.  Yes, it's sad.   But, I believe that having an armed guard would change the entire belief that America is safe.

Now, if/when teachers are allowed a permit to carry, I will retire.   I'm afraid, that day will come soon, however.  I am very pro 2nd Amendment and all that....but, if that time comes that we must have armed guards at schools, then I know we have much bigger problems in our society.

if misery loves company, seems Pitt's in the same boat, from PFT:

That left linebacker James Harrison to say, via Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Media, that the defense is “totally s—–” and “quite terrible” in an assessment that’s unlikely to find too many detractors in light of Sunday’s performance.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had a similar opinion of the entire team, calling them “undisciplined and not accountable” in his postgame comments that were searching for an answer to stopping the team’s slide.

“I don’t know,” Roethlisberger said, via ESPN.com. “Is it players? Is it coaches? I don’t know, but we need to get there quick.”

The great thing about being in the NFC North, the Packers only have to be the 29th best team in the NFL, as long as #30-#32 are Lions, Vikings, and Bears.

That said, I think the Jaguars and Browns will take a couple of those spots, so the Pack might be the 27th best NFL team and still have a shot at a home playoff game.   How's that for optimism?

In a weird way, winning the division with a 7-9 or 8-8 record might be the worst thing for the organization.  It might give them a feeling of accomplishment and continue to put off what need to be some changes to get the organization back on the right track.  They may need to take a step back to take 2 steps forward.

Trade coaches with Pitt.  Fresh start for both.

That thought occurred to me when I read the article about how the Steelers were going thru similar things as our Packers.

Yeah, I had that flittering thought also, too bad it's not realistic.

Because TT has a phobia about trading?

Because this is an optimism thread I thought I would post something sort of optimistic.

The Packers' roster has 13 first-year players. They have seven draft picks and six UDFAs. Perhaps the roster is lacking experience as much as talent. Hard to expect first-year players to be ready for playoffs. But next year they have that experience!

Also, I read that Aaron has been involved directly in every touchdown this year. (22 passing 3 running). That means that sooner or later it gives us more options. We don't have a running game but managed to still find people to give us a bit of one and gain experience in the long run. I expect that a lot of learning in the tape study will lead to a more diverse offence and better defense in the long run.

OK that's all the "Rainbows and Unicorns" that I can muster.

Too Early?
