Chili, since you brought up your son do you have any updates on the Prob at his school? I trust all is well.
Kid was expelled permanently. No ones seen or heard a thing from him. Which may or may not be good news. School has ramped up security overall though. Not easy being a kid in school. Or the parents of a kid in school.
Or a teacher my young brother.
No joke. I kid about it, but sometimes my family does worry about my safety in the classroom. And I'm in a better-than-average school that follows through on discipline problems.
That's good news, CJ. I'm hoping things return to normal for your child and the school.
However, we know that all schools are vulnerable. Actually, always have been. I
t's just been the last few years or so where mentally-ill people know they can get high profile coverage is if they attack children at a school. The only way to fully protect a school is to have armed guards at each school....and...that will never happen.
You have to trust that your school district has emergency procedures in place. I know our school district has ramped up emergency procedures to the point that we are much safer now that we've every been....just short of having an armed guard at every school site. Yes, it's sad. But, I believe that having an armed guard would change the entire belief that America is safe.
Now, if/when teachers are allowed a permit to carry, I will retire. I'm afraid, that day will come soon, however. I am very pro 2nd Amendment and all that....but, if that time comes that we must have armed guards at schools, then I know we have much bigger problems in our society.
Is this thread still any good? 'cause I sure can use some optimism. Got water?
Lock this thread up and throw away the key.
Just kidding. The season's not over, and I'm not giving up hope. We play in a crappy division where a team with a bye just went to 1st place. I've seen glimpses of hope with this team, they just need to play a complete game.
Get Cook back. Get the D healthy. Fix the entire mental health of the team.
Then yeah.
if misery loves company, seems Pitt's in the same boat, from PFT:
That left linebacker James Harrison to say, via Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Media, that the defense is âtotally sâââ and âquite terribleâ in an assessment thatâs unlikely to find too many detractors in light of Sundayâs performance.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had a similar opinion of the entire team, calling them âundisciplined and not accountableâ in his postgame comments that were searching for an answer to stopping the teamâs slide.
âI donât know,â Roethlisberger said, via ESPN.com. âIs it players? Is it coaches? I donât know, but we need to get there quick.â
The great thing about being in the NFC North, the Packers only have to be the 29th best team in the NFL, as long as #30-#32 are Lions, Vikings, and Bears.
That said, I think the Jaguars and Browns will take a couple of those spots, so the Pack might be the 27th best NFL team and still have a shot at a home playoff game. How's that for optimism?
In a weird way, winning the division with a 7-9 or 8-8 record might be the worst thing for the organization. It might give them a feeling of accomplishment and continue to put off what need to be some changes to get the organization back on the right track. They may need to take a step back to take 2 steps forward.
Shoulda, coulda been done a couple of years ago
The NFCN will be won by the team that's the least awful.
The division is still there to be had if they have enough players left to play the games.
Optimist: The Packers have a better division record vs Queens and Loins.
Pessimist: So do the Bares.
Trade coaches with Pitt. Fresh start for both.

That thought occurred to me when I read the article about how the Steelers were going thru similar things as our Packers.

Maybe GB should take a page from the Philly-Dick Vermeil playbook and start open tryouts.

Yeah, I had that flittering thought also, too bad it's not realistic.

I hope Fedya doesn't have an obscure musical tune or video of that!
I saved it, it's a great shot!
Super Moon over water.

Well if they need a 50ish and fat former ILB I might have a chance!
Go ahead and tryout. They can only tell you "no".
BTW, I think the picture of the moon is awesome.
That's no moon, it's a space station.
If it's over Green Bay, it's a Death Star.

Those outfits look good on you, Herschel.

Because TT has a phobia about trading?
2-1 in the division, 3-3 in the conference. It's all there in front of them.
I think that would be luna
Or it could be some sort of signal. If you see a tortilla in the window......
Because this is an optimism thread I thought I would post something sort of optimistic.
The Packers' roster has 13 first-year players. They have seven draft picks and six UDFAs. Perhaps the roster is lacking experience as much as talent. Hard to expect first-year players to be ready for playoffs. But next year they have that experience!
Also, I read that Aaron has been involved directly in every touchdown this year. (22 passing 3 running). That means that sooner or later it gives us more options. We don't have a running game but managed to still find people to give us a bit of one and gain experience in the long run. I expect that a lot of learning in the tape study will lead to a more diverse offence and better defense in the long run.
OK that's all the "Rainbows and Unicorns" that I can muster.
Someone still believes in Packers. Only a 3 point underdog Monday at Philly. FYI- Badgers are favored by 14 over Minnesota.
