I believe Hundley's series was Michael run for -3, an inc deep pass, then another Michael run for -2. McCarthy and the offense need to help him more than this. Even one 1st down would have been huge on that series.
Makinton "Crumpets" Dorleant will be the 2010 version of James Starks in 2016.
Now that's some mother****in' optimism.
Watt?!?!
Still relevant
Run game running. The TE position matters again. Receivers getting open and catching it. OL run and pass blocking. Balance! Defense getting it done with backups.
And of course, the biggest reason for optimism of them all:
MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP!
Rip will revolutionize the fullback position
I had to chuckle when they all but said, we have Rip and Zenner out here at the same time, who would have thought (leaving it hanging).... two white guys at running back. Not making the statement but obviously making the statement.
Rip, Monty and Michael. All healthy and keeping eachother that way. We can go all the way with those 3, especially behind that Line. It's beautiful.
Ripkowski > Allstott
Rip is a great example of why the draft is such a crapshoot. Here's his pre-draft conclusion:
"Old-school blocking back who will have a hit or two each game that wows the crowd and gets his teammates fired up. He often charges in head-first and with a lowered head, so his success rate can vary greatly from game to game. Lack of pass-catching background hurts his chances."
Lack of opportunities in college doesn't necessarily mean he can't do it. I don't think he ran the ball once at Oklahoma, he runs it fine in GB though. I think people assume that college coaches all know what they're doing and had a good reason for not using a player a certain way. That would be false.
I love how he's strong as a bull and just keeps pushing ahead.
The way NFL & college defenses play vary greatly. Rip started as the lone RB mainly because they were afraid Monty could not handle blitzers . When Lions played Nickel that left a DB & a light LBer (Levy) forced to tackle Rip, big advantage for us there. Not sure which LBer Giants take out in their Nickel, but 2 of their 3 starters are in the 240-250 pound range. I doubt we will see Rip carry the ball as much vs. them Sunday.
Grave Digger posted:Here's some optimism: when Rodgers finally gets over his slump, it's going to be brutal for the rest of the league. He's going to have 2 whole seasons worth of people badgering him about what's wrong with the offense and people doubting him...hopefully he explodes in the playoffs.
Haha. This right here....
Rip will get few carries but lots of great blocks today.
Im glad we have a fullback.
The dream lives on.
Prescott has earned the third-best QB rating in the league from a clean pocket, at 118.0, while he has ranked just ninth under pressure at 75.8. That was on display in the teamsâ first meeting, when Green Bay was able to generate pressure on just six of 29 dropbacks and Prescott lit the Packers up when given time to throw.
But on the season, the Packers ranked seventh in pass-rush grades and fifth in run defense. There are concerns in the secondary, but this is far from a lopsided battle in the trenches. If they can slow down the Cowboysâ running game and get to the rookie quarterback with their pass rush, it could be enough to keep the game in reach for the Packersâ offense.
Victor Cruz says we're gonna beat the Boys.
No sense in playing the game, and I was looking forward to it.
When I see the word "Rip" I think someone had died. This weekend maybe the Cowboys will die in the Grave Digger playoff explosion this weekend.

We live another week.
I'm feeling just a tad more optimistic than I was 8 weeks ago.
I thought the talk of running the table was about as likely as Brett Favre and Ted Thompson going on a hunting trip together. Just when you think you've seen it all in sports, you really haven't.
As far as running the table, I do think the team circled the wagons to try and get back into playoff contention and then win the division. Once in, I do believe they thought they could get to the Super Bowl based on how they were playing...with confidence. At the pro level, I'm sure you can't underestimate the lockerroom confidence; the willing to play hard and hurt for your teammates knowing that this might be THE season to win another Super Bowl. Of course, the memories of the 2010 season still linger...so they know believing in yourself does go a long way to success.
