Sorry, it has to be said: Raji's drop into coverage was probably the last time it happened. We haven't seen anything that innovative lately. It helped make use of his "good feet" and his quickness.

And may Frankie eat 50 doughnuts today...

No, you really don't have to say it.  There's bitching about Capers in about 90 percent of these threads.  How about we leave just a few of them alone?  This one is dedicated to Packer memories, not Packer angst.

[entering a bar for happy hour]

Michael Scott: Ohh, wow. I cannot believe this is happening. It's everything I dreamed. Ohh my God! [laughing]

Jim Halpert: Easy.

Michael Scott: It's not a birthday, it's not a good-bye party--

Jim Halpert: Oh hey, Pam and I are gonna go play pool with one of her friends. And we need a fourth.

Michael Scott: Sucks to be youu!

Jim Halpert: [pause] Would you like to be our fourth.

Michael Scott: That would be sublime.

Don Hutson, born on this day 101 years ago. Here, he's playing against the Chicago Cardinals at old City Stadium on Nov. 1, 1942. The Packers won 55-24 that day. Hutson died in 1997.

DUDE !

You could make some serious coin selling these to Packer fans who would then give them as gifts to their purple friends.

Not kidding. You could retire on that one and with 32 fan bases all hating on some crappy rival, its a slam dunk business opportunity.

From the not necessarily on this date category, Packers SB memories:

The ring for Super Bowl I was partially designed by Packers starting LT Bob Skoronski, who was a Jostens sales rep in the offseason.

Mike Holmgren after Super Bowl XXXI: “This trophy...this is it. It was named after Vince Lombardi. You play in Green Bay... As important as it is to any other team and any other player, it means more to US!"

DE Willie Davis had two sacks in Super Bowl I, and then three more in Super Bowl II. (Before they were an official stat.)

Fitting to recall this on 2/2: Elijah Pitts, wearing #22 for the Packers, scored 2 TD's in Super Bowl I.

After only catching 4 passes all season, Max McGee was pressed into duty during Super Bowl I and caught 7 passes for 138 yards and 2 TDs.

Audio recording of Vince Lombardi's pregame speech before Super Bowl II.

When looking back on SB XXXI it's easy to remember Favre to Freeman and Rison, and Desmond Howard. But the defense had 4 INT's and 5 sacks.
