Corey Linsley: "If I know what I'm doing, really what do I have to be anxious about?"
"The urgency level is just through the roof," Linsley said. "I've been working hard, but it's a different animal out there with the ones. I've got to fill in at the highest level. There's no room for nonsense anymore and ridiculous mistakes. [Missed assignments] are out of the question anymore, and the urgency level is hyped and I'm prepared for it."
Next man up.....man up.
Cripes! Tough luck for J.C. Has anyone heard when the leg will be amputated? At least we have one more preseason game to get a look at Linsley or moving Lang to center as options. Maybe T.T. has someone on the radar who might get cut next Saturday who would be serviceable if Linsley can't handle it.
Hard cheese, as the English say.
FWIW, packer update had Lindsley graded out higher than Tretter. "got more push in the run game and set a better anchor vs pass rushers".

Whew. I am totes relieved.
JC Tretter knee injury heightens urgency at center

So, for the foreseeable future, in steps Linsley, who’s absorbing all the advice he can from veteran guards Sitton and T.J. Lang.
“I just told him not to freak out, not to stress out about anything,” Sitton said.
“It’s football. He’s got T.J. and I next to him, so (I told him) not to think too much.
“Physically he’s gifted. He’s a strong kid and he can push people around. He has a knack for the game. You saw that the first day we put the pads on. Physically, he’s definitely ready for it. We just have to get him 100 percent there mentally.”
Added Lang: “We’re not going to put too much pressure on him. When we get to the line, Josh and I make a lot of calls as it is anyway. So anytime he’s going to be stuck, if he makes a wrong call, we can correct him a split-second later.
“It’s not going to be a problem.” continue
Chilli, if Tretter has a broken leg he won't be back in 5-6 weeks. Sounds like it is similar to Bostick, bone bruise (contusion).
If it is only 6 weeks, that's only 4 games. I doubt it though, probably more like 8 games. Players never return early or on time. Its MM's way of playing games with the injury report.
That was before gummy bears and jello shots.

Hairline fracture. Story is better if it's got a hint of Youngblood.

Except that isn't what MM was asking Tretter and the oline to do nor was it against first stringers. Linsley will be a good anchor but he isn't going to be getting to LBs.
Not shooting the messenger. Add in every article I'm seeing stated Linsley wasn't challenging Tretter for starting because he's rookie. Michael Rodney must have pulled some fantastmagorical formula from PFF. They are different styles of players. All that matters is he gets the job done, which I'm sure he will.

They don't mention Coach Cog? Linsley is going to be able to handle guys like Suh, that's more than enough for a rookie.
Rookie or not, it's a beautiful thing having a true center waiting to take over. If Bak can perform at LT as a rookie, this kid can handle C.
Here's the thing I love about Emery....
I love his strength. I'm hoping to see him put dicks like Suh on their ass.
Just when you think it's safe to hope for a minor injury year...
Well, if what's written is halfway true, Linsley will be okay. Seattle will obviously be a good test, to say nothing about Suh (if he's not suspended like he should be). And Kuhn just made the roster as AR's insurance policy.
We have an excess of cornerbacks nad the Jets need one. They have an excess of centers and we need one. Trade one of the CBs who is not making the team for Caleb Schlauderaff. He was originally drafted by the Packers so he should know the offense.
No thanks.
McGinn on Linsley, Tretter. His scouts love both these guys.
They did take Farb off our hands.
Hope Linzzzzzzzzley can recover from his weekly hangovers.
fuzzy, max and hornung recovered daily, seemed to help
I hope that they will still be able to run the no huddle at the pace they have been. Line calls, etc. were the responsibility of Tretter, IIRC.
I think Linsley may mean a heavier dose of Lacy and the run game until it is proven that Corey can hold up in pass defense. Expect more of the quick passing game as well.

Exactly my concern. Linsley will be fine but I was excited to see the no huddle help take the Seattle crowd out of the game. I just don't know how a backup rookie will be able to run at the pace Tretter was...fingers crossed.
Jesus Christ...this is pathetic. Of course no Seahawk injuries.
So do I have this right? After just 3 pre-season games, our injury situation looks like this:
Lost for the year: NT Raji (starter), OT Barclay (key backup), WR Abbrederis (likely starting PR)
Will miss early part of season: C Tretter (starter)
Iffy for opening Seattle game: CB Hayward (starter), ILB B. Jones (starter), TE Bostick (likely starter), NT Guion (likely starter after losing Raji)
Really, is this just ridiculous or what? Was simply wanting to go into Seattle at full strength. Will not come even close.
Looks like it's time to dust this one off again.
They should start with the backups and with each injury the starters would replace them. Then they just might make it to opening day with the starters available.

What a bunch of pussies, not getting injured, winning Superbowls.
Cobb and Rodgers know the score.

I suggested this in 2010 and nobody in GB would listen.
It's a big loss, but I don't think the loss is devastating. The Center's biggest responsibility, aside from snapping the ball, is making the correct line calls. Apparently, as Josh Sitton stated, that won't be a major issue with two intelligent veteran Guards making the calls. Beyond that all Linsley has to do is not allow an NT to fall on Rodgers and pick up blitzing LBs. I'm not trying to say playing Center is easy, he will get taken advantage of by savvy veteran defenders, but we have seen other teams replace their Center mid-season and still have success. It limits the playbook some and Rodgers will definitely have to have more pocket awareness, but I'm glad it happened two weeks before the Seattle game rather than during the Seattle game. At least Linsley will have a preseason game and a couple weeks of practice to get a little more comfortable.
From what I saw of him, Linsley was a run blocking mauler at OSU but will need help (Kuhn / TEs) in pass protection. Tretter was just a better overall package. The biggest thing IMO with the Tretter injury is the time (number of snaps / exchanges) AR has spent with Tretter. I don't recall Linsley getting any snaps with the 1s during camp to this point. 10 day crash course. Giddy up.

But did you also suggest bumper stickers that say, "My other Center is a starter"?
No loss other than AR would be truly devastating on its own.
Its the sum of the injuries that gets depressing.
The team is in good shape even if they lose 1 OLinman, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 1 DLineman, 1 OLB, 1 ILB, 1 CB and 1 S. That is 9 starters(or starter equivalent like Barclay or Bostic) that could be put on IR and I'd still feel good about this team.
The troubling part is that we haven't even played the 4th preseason game and we are down 4 or 5 key players already with 2 being on the Oline.
In the second half on a Flynn completion to White over the middle (White made a nice spin move on the play to pick up an additional 5 yards) Linsley had an ugly twist recognition that allowed a guy to come free up the middle. Didn't hurt because the play was designed to go to White and the ball was out in 2 seconds.
If White wasn't an option Flynn would have had a guy in his lap and likely a sack.
Expect Seattle to run all kinds of crazy **** up the middle week 1.
