Look around the league at the injuries to KEY players like Sam Bradford and Cam Newton

And we are complaining about a backup swing OL, a 6th string WR, a center that hasn't started one game yet, and a X4 whipping boy that's fat and lazy that plays DL?

Might as well forfeit the rest of the games already

Hello

It's the NFL

Major injuries happen every week it seems.  It's not limited to the Packers

Don't disagree Tschmack, but the reason I complain (and doubtless most others on this board) is that the Packers are our team. Hate to see our team's excellence endangered.

F*** the other teams.

Sh!t happens.  Boomer Esiason noted that there's been 60 reported concussions so far this preseason.  That's one out of every 48 guys based on 90 man rosters.  Tough game.

The positive of injuries is the opportunity for the young guys to show they belong on an NFL field and to learn what it takes to be a starter in the NFL.  There's nothing more motivating than an opportunity and the experience sets them up for a great launch into year two of their careers.  Injuries suck in the short term but tend to be good for the development of the young guys.   Bak isn't nearly as good this year without his experience from last year.

I think if Linsley ends up playing well it's going to be a tough decision to just go back to Tretter. A lot of chemistry can be developed in 5 or 6 weeks.  Should Linsley prove himself capable look for Tretter to work guard and center and become the inside swing guy if anyone else goes down. He has the body type to do both.  Linsley is best suited at center.  In that case Tretter gets a chance to get 100% and not be rushed back and suddenly we're a whole lot deeper along the line.

Tit, I like the thinking of moving Tretter to inside swing guy if Linsley works out. That would allow Tretter more time to get healthy and give us a backup all along the line. They probably wanted to give Linsley a year to get more serious and learn, as he even said it was "time to get serious" about his assignments, etc., but are now forced to use him.

Lacy averaged 5.5 yards per carry in limited work with AR and an OL including Tretter this preseason against starting D's.

Linsley will have to outperform that if he has thoughts of holding the job and keeping AR clean.

If he does it this OL is as deep as anything in the league. Not a bad problem to have.

Trying reading this article/post.

Sounds like they lost a couple of water boys. Nothing more.

Thank God they drafted Linsley. He's looked great against the 2nd and 3rd team defenses. Can't wait to see him take it to the next level. He'll be just fine and hold it down until Tretter returns in a few weeks. I'm also willing to go out on a limb and say Tretter will be back earlier than the six weeks he's speculated to miss.

Physically Linsley will be fine, but as he himself admitted it's the mental aspects of the game he needs to work on. I only hope that MM doesn't have to alter significantly the no huddle offense that was functioning like a well-oiled machine with Tretter at center.

As far as Linsley taking the job go, the odds of that happening are only marginally better than that of Sherrod taking over at LT for Bak.

Not really trying to change your view.  Just pointing out that they have some key inuries.  Irvin is a starting OLB and former first rounder.  Lane in their nickleback and Farwell is a key STer.  They have injuries as do most/all teams.

You're beside me on the seat
Got your hand between my knees
And you control how fast we go by just how hard you wanna squeeze
It's hard to steer when you're breathing in my ear
But I got both hands on the wheel while you got both hands on my gears
By now, no doubt that we were heading south
I guess nobody ever taught her not to speak with a full mouth
'Cause this was it, like flicking on a switch
It felt so good I almost drove into the ditch
I'm screamin' OOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!

That's why they invented the mute button for audio and the IGNORE button for IC

Modern technology is your friend

That wasn't Nickleback, you just didn't get the message after your palms went hairy and your vision failed.

My guess is they will see how Linsley looks his first 2-3 weeks, then decide what to do with Tretter. If he looks OK, they may not use the IR-DTR and leave that in case a more valuable starter goes down. FWIW, Garth looked fairly decent in that last game against KC. Ya, I know that was PS but he really seemed to hold his own.

If Linsley ends up being fine, then they may IR Tretter period.
