There is NFW they have Hundley as the #2 QB.  Tolzien may not be the guy but it will someone else, not named Hundley, if Tolzien is released. 

After the QB debacle of a couple years back they'll never go back to 2 QBs. Also, I expect roster expansion in the next few years.

I expect someone on that list will be injured

If he can run at all with pro receivers I wouldn't be surprised to see Gunter make the squad. I read somewhere that Schneider and the Sedahawks were very interested in him but he chose Green Bay.

Gunter said the Sam Shields story helped him make the pick of the Packers. Really like his size and if he can play faster than his 40 time he's got a shot. 

 

How much more of a chance do we have to win a game with Tolzien compared to the rookie?

 

I'm guessing Tolzien over rookie moves the point spread by 1, maybe 2, points at the most.  Is that worth letting go of another young player who shows potential and is cost controlled for a couple  years?

 

I say no, roll the dice with the Rook this year and certainly the next 2 after that.  2016 and 2017.

So IOW Thorton and Bradford have roster spots all wrapped up?

I expect Ripkowski to be a core special teamer and probably more likely Kuhn gets cut, although I expect them to keep both. Love for Thorton and Bradford appears to be based on little more than draft position and both need to demonstrate they can even play at the NFL level.

 

Really interested to see the RB competition and the #3 RB position appears wide open. 

I expect Ripkowski to push Eddie Lacy.

He's got both Bradford and Thornton getting cut, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

Also - Any roster prediction that lists Clay Matthews as an ILB is instantly thrown out the window in my world.

My first two projections have Clay at TE.

My Mock Consensus board has Clay lining up as a substitution at ILB on rushing downs. On passing downs he rotates with Perry, Elliott, and soon to be acquired by trade Mercedes Lewis in order to protect to his health.

Analysis:

 

QB - Same

RB - Crockett's hurt, could be a settlement. Neal has the upperhand at the moment.

WR - Abbredumdum's brain is now spaghetti. The people's hero himself Jeff Janis steps in.

TE - If Quarless gets suspended, then they'll keep Backman/Perillo and then he comes back they'll have to rock-paper-scissors over their roster spot.

OL - Same, perhaps Barclay at backup LT.

DL - **** Goalline.

LB - Matthews is listed as OLB but subs in at ILB (Am I the only one who doesn't think that's so bad?)

DB - Gunterolle over Goodson, Banjo climbs on board at least initially

ST - Same

Per the camp tweets yesterday, it seems Palmer is running with the ones at ILB when Matthews lines up at OLB

Many times the coaches want to get some film early in camp - both for teaching purposes and to see if the players show improvement over time.

 

So we'll see lots of guys in new and different spots as they look for the winning combination - not only in terms of starters, but in case somebody gets dinged during the season.

I've got Gunter in for sure, Thorton out even with the suspensions on the DL. Ringo playing bigger role than people expect in regular season.

Yeah, Gunter sure does appear to close to a lock at this point. I'd be a little surprised if either Thorton or Bradford survived the final cut.

 

Harris and Neal are having a pretty good battle for the #3 RB. Neal may have the edge simply because of his ability to catch the ball. After Rodgers TE appears to be pretty wide open. Based on the ST work Mitchell Henry is getting he may have a real shot to stick.

I for one am stunned that Ted has possibly found another DB a year after letting a generational talent like Rolle slip through his fingers.

The mind reels.

I'm starting to wonder if Hayward may be in some serious competition for starting time with Randall, Gunter and the yet to be seen Rollins.

Especially if his nagging injuries start up again.

Rollins is gonna compete inside with Hyde per team comments

Randall, Hayward, Goodson, Gunter will battle for the spot opposite Shields

Also read that they move Shields around, shadowing # 1 instead of staying on one side of the field as he has in the past

Ripkowski is the reason we will stand pat on TE. We are not ditching Kuhn yet.

Yeah Rollins worked exclusively in the Slot. Hayward worked in the Slot occasionally, but spent the bulk of his time outside. Hyde was the #1 Slot CB and then Hayward slid down to Slot with Randall coming in outside. Rollins came in at Slot and Gunter replaced Shields with the 2's. Goodson replaced Randall eventually.

Here's the depth chart I observed:

Outside CB: Shields, Hayward, Randall, Gunter, Goodson
Slot CB: Hyde, Hayward, Rollins

Perillo got more time at FB/HBack with the 1's/2's than Ripkowski FWIW. Ripkowski played a lot, but Perillo's versatility gave him more opportunities.

Bradford didn't get much PT the last couple days. He's not a lock to make the roster, much less start.

Don't count out Packers' WR Myles White

Interesting roster-related piece from Demovsky. White is a guy that I really haven't even considered for making the cut and perhaps I should.

Players who I believe may jump in: Alonzo Harris, Jean Fanor, Mark Rotherham, Jeremy Vujnovich.

Players who I believe may bounce out: Sam Barrington, John Crockett, Mike Neal, Don Barclay.

Who are Barrington, Neal, and Barclay getting bounced by exactly? I'm all for cheering on a rookie UDFA to steal a spot, but those guys are pretty established contributors and/or starters. Barclay is a maybe I suppose if he keeps struggling, but Barrington is the only guy who has consistently been the #1 ILB and Neal is the top backup for both OLB spots.

John Kuhn isn't getting cut. I think Rip makes the 53 but unless 30 gets hurt he's playing this season. MM and A. Rodgers aren't about breaking up the band this time around.

 

Pennel is going to stick, also. At least until Guion's suspension situation sorts itself out.

 

I know TT loves his draftees. But Carl Bradford isn't making this team unless he shows things he hasn't shown since coming to GB.
