The Vikings suck.
The Vikings suck.
You're just wrong on that, Heyward. Many years a half dozen or so get picked up elsewhere. Do you need names? Links?
Are we talking about players claimed or signed right after they're waived by the Packers? If we are, then yes, give me some names from the past two or three years.
C. Johnson for Vikings, signed off our squad.
DJ Williams
Frank Zombo
There are more.... especially two years ago...
I never said no castoffs get picked up by other teams, but hardly a half dozen or so. In most years, its 1 or 2 at most.
Trophies, Vaughters and Mitchell have a small chance of sticking. Rasco has no chance.
As I recall, two years ago 6-8 got picked up or signed off our practice squad...
Stupid AJ Hawk. Stupid Keil.
Hawk takes a lot of **** on this board, and some of it is deseved, but comparing him to Keil is just, well ...
Hatefül
All i know about any of the backfield groups that have been through here is what I hear/read/see. I'm comparing the things I've heard/read/seen about this group against the groups who have been here in the past. I'm offering my opinion that this is the best backfield group top to bottom TT has provided MM with based on everything I've heard/read/seen.
Is there another year where you thought the backfield group provided to MM was better? That's the discussion I was hoping to have.
When they start the season, then we can compare the this years roster (RBs) to previous years. Right now there are a lot of guys who won't be on a team come mid September. And, everybody loves there guys in August.
I agree 1-7 these guys give Mike a lot to chose from. Making his job hard is what Uncle Ted likes doing. Now who we still have in September and how they compare??????
Apropo the Kuhn discussion earlier in the thread, Ryan Wood at the GBPG with a long-form profile of 30, nicely done.

...Over time, Rodgers said, he’s grown to rely on Kuhn in the backfield. Gash calls him a “calming voice,” a leader when there’s chaos on the field. His All-Pro impact doesn’t always show up in the stat book, but Rodgers feels it.
“John’s a gritty guy,” Rodgers said. “He’s a tough guy. He’s Pennsylvania tough. He has that fortitude, he digs deep. He’s extremely intelligent. I’ve said for years John is the only guy in the locker room that can rival me mentally with the playbook. He’s incredibly smart and able to recall things very quickly. That keeps him around.”...
Thanks for posting.
Hope he gets his THIRD Super Bowl ring this year.
Battle for the 53 rages on. Should be some telling performances tomorrow, one's that can make or break player's chances. I'm starting to wonder if Barclay can handle his assignments so soon after coming off the ACL. I do have confidence in Josh Walker though. Should be fun to see how he does.
Giant test for Hundley and Blanchard going up against what I suspect will be Philly's 1s and 2s. Hopefully the game isn't too big for them.
I do believe this is good news:
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and the rest of Green Bay’s starters will not play Saturday, Aug. 29, versus the Philadelphia Eagles, according to QB Matt Blanchard.

Hadn't heard that confirmed anywhere else. I would prefer Aaron didn't play tomorrow. We've got to get LT figured out, and until then, I'd keep him off the field till week 1.
While true they were signed, none but Johnson last year has elevated above scrub status. "We have the best roster chum" is nice, but not the best thing to hang your hat on.

Agreed, and until we see some more evidence, it isn't clear that Johnson is much more than a replacement level player. If he were still in Green Bay, would he ever be better than a 4th or 5th wideout?

Josh Walker emerging as go-to backup offensive lineman
Nice article from McGinn on Walker. Simply can't play AR if the disastrous experiment of Barclay at LT is continuing. The comment from an NFL exec on Don rang true to me:
"Barclay's a disaster," an NFL executive in personnel said. "You can't count on the guy. He can't handle an edge rusher.
Kuhn will get cut.
No one will miss those 13 snaps
I thought that was a certainty heading into OTAs, Bong. Now, I'm thinking the exact opposite. People like saying "Kuuuuuuuuuuhn."
I swear, the dude owes part of his career longevity here in GB to George Koooooonce. We're gonna have to find another player with that same kind of sound to his name.
Well, everyone could just let one Rip.
Well played, Sir.

It's destiny that we draft a LT by the name of Harold Kuntz next season.
I'd be down with Harry Kuntz on the blindside.
how bout keith moon.
Who?
Kuhn will get cut.

Let's make a bet.
If John Kuhn makes the 2015 team, then you have to post only in the brewers forum until he does get cut
If Kuhn is cut before October 1st, I'll shrug my shoulders and laugh
Deal ?
Deal.
Write it in stone.
Game threads won't be the same without you, Bong.
I'll put the game thread in the Brewer forum
I posted a vine of Sitton working Cameron Heyward like a sled. Linsley moved his guy and then sealed the backside. But Kuhn got on the ILB fast, got under his pads and sealed the lane. Yes, Timmons was sitting but it was still textbook stuff.
Kuhn may not make it. But he did an awful lot of things right that were under the radar that someone will need to handle.
If Kuhn doesn't instantly slide and chip Julius Peppers we're not looking at a potential 7th straight trip to the post season.
Team has already lost one of Rodgers' security blankets. Hard to see them cutting another. Especially a pro's pro who by all evidence is mentoring the hell out of his successor and all the youngsters.
Not to pile on but I am with Bong unless he changes his mind. Then I would want that.
what a coincidence Ratpack !
I form all my opinions after consulting the Bong too
The sits-on-his-hands GM re-signed Kuhn very early in the offseason
teh stupid-face head coach, teh has-been positional coach and teh cancer patient- hating QB all came out in favor of Kuhn being a part of Team 95
eventually, even teh rocket surgeons will figger it out
I bet Rip is raising Kuhn's performance thus far. Now, I'd be very surprised if he didn't make the 53. That will be at the expense of a young, talented player, but there is merit to keeping him in some respects. In other respects, it is a very, very costly security blanket.
I can easily see four scenarios here.
1. keep kuhn, win superb owl.
2. keep kuhn, don't win superb owl.
3. cut kuhn, win superb owl.
4. cut kuhn, don't win superb owl.
Setting the stage for a fantastic x4 off-season. And that's all that really matters.
There's more than enough awareness about Perry.
Anyone know how PFF does their grading, in less than 5-6 hours?
Outsource it to India?
