I really have zero bad feelings about Darnold, seems like a good kid, tries hard and is a good teammate.  After all the chances and years he is what he is, a mediocre NFL qb.  The bubble has burst.  He will hang around a few more years maybe get another shot at starting.  Good luck to him.

OTOH, fuck the Vikings.

Watching his facial expressions in the third quarter, you could see him realizing what it meant to be a Viking. Darnold got bad advice for his long term growth. Fire his agent and move on. He's welcome to try to beat out Willis.

We all get charged up in a game thread and sure get disappointed when our team plays like shit. I wad reading the Vicklings game thread and I was tempted to call in a wellness check on some of those folks.

We had some of those pants poopers in sunday's game thread.  Started on our first possession.   Sky constantly falling at every turn.  Then whining when you'd call them out.  It's exhausting.  But also kind of hilarious.

Is this why Kiel took a self imposed hiatus?

Minny has still never won a SB. And based on current roster/cap situation that’s not gonna change for another 1/4 generation and that’s just fun.
At the same time GB has a bit of a shit show on its hands. GB needs another Harlan. Ed Policy needs to demand better on day 1. Put Gute on notice. Improve the roster. Put MLF on notice. Figure out Love. Is he the guy? Fuck improving the sled hill in Titletown. Make the team better.
And fuck Minnesota. Last time they played in a SB there was a new upcoming group of Brits throwing down a unique sound of vocal jive harmony. The Bee Gees.

Bob Dylan and Prince were pretty damn famous but they had a run of great athletes in the 70s at U of MN including Dave Winfield, Kevin McHale, and Paul Molitor.

People talk about Bo Jackson but Winfield is the only guy that was drafted by the NBA, NFL, and MLB.  He probably could have been an All Star in the NBA but 20+ years in the majors and HOF honors worked out pretty well for him.

It’s going to get really interesting with the Vikings.  Do they retain Darnold knowing how the last two games went?   Do they let him go and turn to an unproven rookie that looked horrible this offseason before getting hurt?  Do they keep Darnold and trade McCarthy?

They think they can a 1st and another pick for a guy who hasn't played a down!

From Facebook:

Monday night’s wild-card round disappointment for the Vikings seemed to be felt viscerally by the voice of the team.
Paul Allen, the team’s iconic radio voice on KFXN, felt all of the emotions in what became an ugly 27-9 loss that saw quarterback Sam Darnold get sacked nine times for 82 yards.
Allen, the radio voice since 2002, has never been shy about showing his displeasure, anger and disappointment over the years, including memorable calls on Brett Favre’s late interception in the 2010 NFC title game, Blair Walsh’s missed chip-shot field goal in the 2016 wild-card round and when then-Cardinals quarterback — and now Vikings QB coach — Josh McCown eliminated Minnesota in the final seconds of the last regular season game in 2003.
And, on Monday night, Darnold was at the center of Allen’s latest call.
With under four minutes left in the second quarter and the Vikings already down 17-3, Darnold danced around the pocket and held onto the ball, hoping for someone to get open downfield.
But that didn’t happen, and Darnold was eventually sacked.
Allen was none too pleased.
“He’s holding it too long! Throw it, man!” Allen said in disbelief. “At the 25-yard line he’s sacked for a fifth time.
It was the story of the game for Darnold who was sacked six different times after at least 4.4 seconds after the snap, according to Next Gen Stats.
At halftime, Allen shared his thoughts on X in what he called a “drunk” game.
