Word. He's a solid 4th CB, maybe even a 3rd CB if not forced to cover a speedster. A very physical corner who just had no business being forced to cover the Julio Jones and AJ Greens of the NFL.

And he's got good experience including extensive playoff time. He'll be gainfully employed in no time.

They obviously think Pipkins has a greater upside than what Gunter can offer now. Pipkins at least has speed and at times in PS showed a knack for the position and hitting. Right now, crossing fingers no one gets hurt, GB has the luxury of keeping a guy like Pips to see if he can continue improving.

Hoping House can still play. He was trailing on several plays Sunday, thankfully Rusty either overthrew the wide open receiver or was under too much pressure to find him.

House is basically a better Gunter.  I'm sure there will be some plays but if he's knocking guys off routes pretty regular I'll take that.  I get giving him the start but I sure hope King or one of the younger guys works into the starting role by mid-season.

Didn't notice much about Pankey other than the fact that he is MASSIVE. He was easily the biggest OL in the group. Size wise he reminds me of that guy Josh Walker we had a few years ago. Didn't hear much talk about Pankey in the media, that's either really good or means he didn't do anything at all.

Pankey distinguished himself as a true road grader during his time in Morgantown by flashing an on-field nasty streak that, together with his strength and  other physical attributes, allowed him to consistently finish his blocks and win his battles.

But the long (see 83-inch wingspan) and lean prospect is much more than a phone-booth grinder in that he casually moved from guard to both tackle spots without any drop-off in his overall performance.

Pankey means 10 OL on the 53, correct?

Would seem to indicate that Barclay isn't close to returning. Spriggs and Bulaga injuries might also be a factor.

Dangerously thin at T right now.

That's right. Barclay made room for Brooks. Makes me a little more nervous about Spriggs and Bulaga injuries.

Pankey played T in college but every profile projected him as interior only as a pro.

With the terrible line play many teams experienced over the first weekend, it may be that the Packers had info that Pankey was about to be signed to someone's 53 & did not want to lose him?

I think they know what they got in Spriggs, at least for this season.  That leaves Murphy to cover the whole line for depth.  Not sure who else is sitting as backups at the moment.  Of course Pankey could be just as raw.

Daniels played 78% of the defensive snaps yesterday. That's a little on the high side. Clark played 76%.

I'd like to see that percentage reduced until MUCH later in the year

From McCarthy's presser, just concluded:

@RobDemovsky:  Sounds like Mike McCarthy got some input from players and returned Wednesday's practice to early afternoon rather than late afternoon. Means players shouldn't be at Lambeau as late as they were last week. "We tried it," McCarthy said. "Last week was the perfect week to really try it. Practicing late, practicing after lunch, I've never been a fan of it."

@PackerReport:  McCarthy on going back to an earlier practice time: You listen to your bartenders.

Starting to sound like Bulaga injury might be the higher ankle variety. MM having no update has historically been bad news.

Have to imagine Murphy is cemented as the starter until Bulaga is good to go.

So much to like here

Linsley getting through the wash fast to seal off Clowny McClowndick (Wright)

Bennett driving Griffin into the end zone and completely out of the play.

Murphy gets a hand on Avril then gets second level on Wagner to seal off the backside.

Ty having no fear of leaning into Chancellor.

About as well as you can execute blocking against a great defense.

Carolina picked up Gunther today.
