NO was this close to putting GB on their way to a top 10 pick, EDGE rusher in 2019. I still maintain that this team will be in better position to compete for a SB next year.
DH13, I am with you. Aaron Rodgers alone makes this team a playoff contender. As far as being a WorId Championship contender I really think there's too many holes on the roster to make that happen. Give Gute another year to reload and I could see them being back to say 2014 level which was the last time we were a true Championship contender.
Way, way, way too early to try and gauge where this team is in regards for a title this year. Get Aaron Jones and Burks back. Keep developing the kids. Rodgers and Graham are only getting started.
Weβll have a much clearer picture of where this team is a few weeks from now when they travel to LA.
Should be 2-0. Time to get ready for Washington.
I like what I saw in the defense yesterday minus late in the game when backups were in and/or guys were getting tired.
They still need another pass rusher and could probably use a decent safety but other than that they played OK.
Eric Reid is sitting at home. Instant upgrade at S. Other than the gift pick Ha Ha is still pretty much invisible.
What frosted me is him standing and watching as King got beat on the first TD. Shades of last year. How Pettine can stand that I don't know.
Play that has kind of been overshadowed. Adams bad drop on Packers opening drive on 1st down. GB offense was going downhill. GB would have had 1st and 10 inside Minnys 30.
Next play was a sack which led to a punt. No points.
No amount of development is going to change the fact we have no pass rush from the edges. As other have said, that can be the fly in the SB contender ointment. And that is assuming the top 3 CB's are healthy for the last 1/2 of the season. Looks like when one goes down, so does the pass defense.
Only thing Brice needed to hit was the ball. He took sight off the ball as he closed on Alexander and Thielen. Not sure why but heβll learn from it in the film room.

Rodgers called that? With a bum knee? Did Rodgers call for not running the ball and burning clock late in the game?
MM is not good
The play was there to make, whether it's a safe call or not. I don't think any Packer fan would choose to see AR run on a designed play. Not sure if it matters who made the call, bottom line is Rodgers didn't execute and he had a first down right in front of him. Whether his knee buckled or he hurried the play, I haven't watched any interviews but I'd guess Rodgers would take full blame on that one.
The bottom line is neither our QB or head coach were very clutch yesterday.
Rodgers drove them in to field goal range in about 37 seconds with no timeouts. That's pretty clutch.

Agree that Rodgers has to give the ball to Williams on 2nd and 2 in OT. Bad decision.
But I will never agree Rodgers wasnβt clutch yesterday. Perfect pass to Adams for 6 with 2 minutes left in regulation. Drove Green Bay 36 yards in 30 seconds with no time outs to set up Crosby for the win in regulation.
Add in the TD taken away on a phantom hold.
What more can you expect from the guy? Seriously.
Hold onto the ball and better time management. Not good enough for me.
Brak posted:That defense looked so different from the last 10 years.
Nope, that's not it.
Maybe Rodgers didn't unnecessarily burn three time outs.
Yep, getting warmer. Except he did.
McCarthy sucks and is ultimately responsible for everything ever.
Yes.
Not everything ever, just his play calling...I fell out of love with this guy a couple of years ago...and all the valentines and chocolate he can muster can't make me care for him again.
One positive, there clearly isn't a massive talent gap between the Vikings and Packers. There are certain areas that the Pack is short. The Vikings have better safeties and LBs, and Dalvin Cook would be our best RB if he were here. That said, there isn't any sort of massive chasm between the 2 teams. Just by having #12 at least somewhat healthy, the Pack can go toe to toe with these guys at any time whereas last year they had no chance without him.
Not sure where to put this info so I'll put it here. Taysom Hill is returning kicks for the Saints... and he had a 47 yarder yesterday.

Another plus: We get another shot at them.
I would agree thereβs not much of a talent gap between the teams. However, Harrison Smith really makes that D the threat they are and the Packers donβt have one guy on defense thatβs close to him. He makes that defense elite. If heβs not playing thatβs an average secondary IMO.

This. Also important to note there are a lot of things GB can get done between now and the rematch that can take a lot of the sting out of yesterdays result. Namely stringing together a bunch of wins and continuing to fine tune the offense.
Can anybody explain how in the world, the MIN's, with such a "stacked" roster at every position, was not able to beat the lowly "last place in their division" Packers? Did the refs take points off the board for them? Did they lose one of their 50 pro bowlers to injury during pre game warm ups?
+ I really have lost interest in wasting my time following this franchise and the NFL.
- - I have more time with sweetie and fake news.
- on top of Crosby missing the potential game winner, Larivee after a long pause first called it good. then no good. I was stuck listening to their call on the radio and he just turned the knife a little more. I heard his explanation later but...c'mon man!!!

LOL
First of all, I was at the game and a big negative for me was the amount of viqueen fans in the stadium.
Second, whoever says that a tie is like kissing your sister is totally wrong. I assume that kissing your sister is terrible and it would only be sort of bad if you were into incest.
And C, I was disappointed with the outcome only when I thought we had a real chance of winning. I didn't give the Pack much of a chance leading up to it given AR's injury and the "superior" talent on mn's roster. 5-0-1 heading into the bye week is possible and I would have taken that in a second before the season started.
The defense will improve and so will the offense as the year goes on (barring injury) but I agree that we are a year and a better pass rush away from being dominant again. But who knows. I remember walking out of the game after the loins knocked AR out of the game in 2010 thinking that the season was over....

Yep the NFL has ruined my favorite sport...never thought in my lifetime I would lose interest in professional football
I have no idea how many Vikings fans were at the game but it sure seemed like a lot and unfortunately there were a lot in our area as well. I get it that you can sell your tickets for a premium but that was a bit ridiculous especially in that it was the Vikings and also not some cold weather or evening game.
Positive for me: Got to meet BVAN
Vikings fans here were happy, and mostly subdued. They know the refs kept them in the game. As I said, this is a good learning experience for the young DBs to keep their focus despite being ahead with what appeared a pretty safe lead, and to not let bad calls get you down. Yes, they were tired, but I think they are young and Brice/Alexander on the Theilen TD just haven't been in many of those situations before. Hopefully, KK can come back. I had hoped they'd be able to let House go as I thought he was done last year...
We need to see a lot more Josh Jackson and a lot less Davon House. Per stats, Jackson played LESS snaps against the Vikings vs the Bears.
Kid has a nose for the football. There is little reason to believe Jackson would play worse then an aging veteran who's best days are well past him.
agree on House. he's alright within the first 10-15 yards, maybe, but that's about it. didn't think he'd be back.
This cracks me up and explains Viking fans to a T . Cousins is a better QB because of these stats. Never mind he had a interception taken off the board, almost had 2 more and Rodgers playing on one leg. Viking fans make WWE fans look like Rhodes Scholors.
MN Cousins vs GB Rodgers: Round 1
Post by salamander Β» Mon Sep 17, 2018 12:28 pm
Rodgers: 0-0-1
Cousins: 35 completed passes with a whopping 72.9 completion %
Rodgers: 30 completed passes with a whopping 71.4 completion %
Cousins: Let the rock fly for 8.85 yards/pass and an elite 425 yards.
Rodgers: Dinked and dunked it for 6.69 yards/pass and a "dime a dozen" 281 yards.
Cousins: 4 TD's to 1 INT ratio.
Rodgers: 1 TD to 0 INT ratio.
Cousins: 85.6 QBR and 118.8 passer rating.
Rodgers: 53.3 QBR and 97.4 passer rating.
--------
Ultimately, Cousins was the better player but his special teams failed him at huge moments in the game to make it a tie. Meanwhile, Rodgers did not play as well and needed his special teams to rise to the occasion multiple times to get the tie.
As you stated itβs stupid logic but I hear that a lot from Vikings fans.
I saw an inspired GB team yesterday that actually played more physical than the mighty Vikings. The toughness was evident with 12 gutting it out and it seemed to elevate their play from week 1.
If you are Minnesota you have reason to be concerned. Rodgers could actually be more accurate and dangerous in the pocket. Their best RB (Jones) didnβt even play. It took an injury to King and fatigue for the Vikings to move the ball consistently. And our OL was pretty respectable and will get better.
The reality is that the Vikings had their shot last year and blew it and thereβs no guarantee they make it back to where they were. Having 12 slinging it changes everything.
Cousins does have a record of career games vs. GB. Hell, that alone may be why MIN signed him.
Over 24 hours have passed and I still can't think of any "positives" or "negatives" for this game. All it was was a ****ing screwjob.
Screwjobs don't get the benefit of analysis. What's the point if the refs can dictate the outcome without repercussion?
The game shouldn't even register in the standings. Sure, a tie.
Whatever NFL. **** you too.
Take away his snaps after the Clay sack and include the INT. It's not such a great day now.

1 day removed and I love this post. Feel so much better now than I did yesterday at this time. Our schedule is very favorable for quite a few weeks. 5-0-1 going into the bye does look possible.
Somebody needs to start the Redskins thread. Let's go!
One of the biggest negatives from yesterday:
Vicklings found out their kicker sucked before their annual Post season choke (Chock) job.
Thx Brak, I'm here to heal.
The Vikings shouldn't get two cocky. Two of their last four games were not losses because a young safety was stupid in the closing moments of the game, otherwise they lose both, and in one of the other two they got shellacked.
Big positive!
According to @PFF, when Stefon Diggs was covered by either Josh Jackson or Jaire Alexander on Sunday, the #Packersβ rookie CB duo surrendered just three catches for six yards.
