Gute has taken deserved lumps in some of his draft picks, but it looks like he’s hit an absolute grand slam with Watson.

Quay Walker leads all rookies with nearly 100 tackles in the NFL. Still learning, but that also looks like a very good pick.

Walker has a ways to go ... some of our run problems are tied to him not being quick enough to fill the hole. He is great when he can run to the boundary after the ball but has to be way better between the tackles.

Kind of torn. I don't like losing the draft position since this team isn't going anywhere, but after living in Shitcago for 25 years and dealing with their insufferable fans beating the Bares is always worth the sacrifice.

+ we beat the Bears

- we lost a draft spot

+ Watson

_ Refs

+ Dillon

_ Run D

+ We lead today in all time wins

_ Cobb being out of position on that "errant" pass from #12

+ Tom

_ Rodgers did not give "them" the finger

Don't worry about the draft position.  I don't know that they're going to win another game this season.  I'll take 2 W's vs. CHI, 1 vs DAL and hopefully 1 more vs. MIN.  I don't care about the rest at this point of the season.  Lots of change coming in 23.

+Watson showing shades of Lofton on that end around.  That's the last receiver I remember in GB that could house that play at any given moment.

I totally agree with you.  He has upside thanks to his very good speed, but his lack of quick decision making instincts do temper the enthusiasm for him a bit.  You hope maybe the game will slow down for him as he gets experience but I agree he is pretty easy to get maneuvered out of position at this point in his career.

Admit it, Bitches! Today’s defense was the greatest I’ve seen since the days of Ray Nitschke, Willie Davis, Herb Adderley and Willie Wood.

I did not see the game today (not televised here).

WR Christian Watson said when he dove into the end zone at the end of his cinching TD, he realized he didn’t know what he was going to do. “He pretty much just rolled in. “I’ve got to think of something beforehand if I’m going to do something like that,” he said.

How about just handing the ball to an official like in the old days,

+ There’s guys that have track speed and guys that have football speed.  Christian Watson has both.  His speed threat has completely transformed what had been a dreadful offensive season.

+ The Pack is struggling and they aren’t very good, but I am happy they didn’t quit when they got down early.  To lose to a bad Bears team missing a ton of key guys would have made a disappointing season turn into a catastrophe.

+ Sammy Watkins blocking.  He’s useless as a pass receiver and I forgot he was on the team but he did have a couple great blocks. 😀

+ Devonte Wyatt actually looked like he made a play today, something I don’t know that I’ve seen from him in awhile.

You could have streamed it for free with BK’s credit card.

Watson is still fast.  Good

I figured with Bac out that the line would crumble.  Maybe the Bears are that bad, but the line was pretty stout today.

Dillon with his best game of the year, and that includes a play where instead of falling immediately with contact, he fell prior to contact.

I believe Joe Barry when he says he just doesn't know why the defense isn't better.

All Watson needs is a tiny bit of space. When Watkins shielded that DB, Watkins knew Watson was gone before he even turned the corner. Watson is going to be something special, and Watkins actually made a play. (Granted, it was a block, but it's better than nothing.)

Ford, once again, near the ball and makes a play. What took the coaches so long to get him on the field, and get Nixon in place of Amari? Both have made some plays. Rasul's strip was good work.

All Tom does is play. He's a battler. AJ runs hard.

Rodgers still owns more of the Bears than he does of the Bucks!

Curious…….is that Jefferson of the queens better, not as good or what to our Watson??

There might be nobody better than Jefferson right now.  I’m excited for Watson’s future, but Jefferson is a couple levels above Watson, and most other NFL WRs as well.

He's a lot better (and that's not saying Watson isn't a potential Pro Bowler in the future). The comparison in their training up until this year for Watson is almost unbelievable, though, and Watson can improve a lot.

Justin Jefferson, barring injury, is a future first ballot HOFer and the main reason the Vikings record is what it is now. He's basically a faster version of Davante Adams (also a future HOF WR).

Jefferson was also a superstar WR in college (he caught 111 passes for 1540 yards and 18 TDs his last year at LSU). He lasted until the 22nd pick, but his evaluation was probably negatively impacted by the fact that his QB won the Heisman (Joe Burrow) and the other starting nWR on that team actually might be better than him (J. Chase). I think scouts weren't sure how much of it was him and how much of it was who he played with.

The 2019 LSU team went 15-0 and won the national title. They had 12 guys drafted in 2020 (4 first round picks) and 16 more the next two years. Jefferson was lining up in practice every day against the following DBs when he was at LSU from 2017-19:

Stingley, 3rd overall pick in the first round in 2022

C. Flott, 3rd round pick in 2022

Kelvin Joseph, 2nd round pick in 2020

Grant Delpit, 2nd round pick in 2020

Kristian Fulton, 2nd round pick in 2020

Greedy Williams, 2nd round pick in 2019

Donte Jackson, 2nd round pick in 2018

In other words, from 2017 on, those thousands of practice reps Jefferson took where almost all against guys that were all future NFL starters (not to mention going across the middle against LBs like Devon White and Patrick Queen. His QB was Joe Burrow, so he was getting running patterns with a guy that had an NFL level arm and was ready to be a starting NFL QB on day one. That's a huge advantage to the development of a WR. Jefferson was also playing in SEC games against some teams with better defensive talent than some NFL teams (Alabama, Georgia). LSU was also running a pro style offense.

On the other hand, Watson was playing at North Dakota State. NDSU wasn't devoid of talent, but they've had 7 guys drafted in the last 7 years. He didn't line up in practice against a single DB that has played in the NFL. He did get to play one year with Trey Lance as his QB. However, unlike Burrow, Trey Lance has looked overwhelmed at the NFL level. So, he was playing in practice against guys that are probably selling insurance right now with a QB who wasn't running a Pro-style offense. There were probably fewer future NFL DBs in the entire conference NDSU played in than on the practice field at LSU.

So, yes Jefferson is a lot farther ahead right now and will likely end up with a much better career. But, Jefferson arrived in the NFL with the football equivalent of a bachelor's degree from an Ivy League school and Watson arrived with the equivalent of a community college education.

Watson has all the tools to get a lot better, and if he has a strong work ethic, he is almost certain to do that.

He’s a rookie.

+ i never get tired of beating the bears

+ topping them in all time wins and breaking the longest record in NFL history

+ as frustrated as I am with Gute, I think this is his best draft class-Tom has been good sans Buffalo, Devonte Wyatt has not been spectacular, but he looks better every week despite limited snaps.....and the other guys

Walker needs to put on 20-25 lbs of muscle. He'll be a monster.

I believe they said  the record is having the most wins all-time at the end of each season in all those years, so we gotta stay ahead going forward.

2 wins against the Bears plus a win vs Dallas with MM coaching them….  Not the worst season I’ve experienced.

And a shot at the Vikings at Lambeau in January. Likely will be with Love at QB but he will have Watson and Doubs at his disposal. Would be great to bury those fools with Love at QB.

Only reason it took this long to catch the Bears in all time wins is they played more games in the early days of the NFL. It was a lot easier to arrange games in the Chicago area than it was in GB. Bears were playing 2-3 more games per season until the schedules became standardized.

Looks like Fields is going to be just good enough to force the Bears into making that decision all teams have to make with their first round QB after 3 or 4 years. I hope they go all in on him and get a similar return that they got with Cutler.
