The Green Bay Packers select?

I'm still of the opinion it's a C if available. Packers need a long term fixture to help anchor the line.

Starting 2013 defense:

DL - Neal, Raji, Pickett starting. (Daniels, Worthy (depending on injury severity), Wilson for depth) Jordan Miller back to the PS.

OLB - Clay and Perry starting(Moses and a draft pick for depth)
ILB - Bishop and Manning starting (Jones, Smith, draft pick)
CB - Shields, House, Hayward starting (Williams and Bush for depth). If House is healthy I'm starting him ahead of Williams.
S - McMillian and Burnett starting (Jennings and Woodson (if restructured)

Need to upgrade LB's. I wish there was a larger body of work to see what GB has in Sean Richardson. But drafting a safety may also be a need.

1 - C
2 - Best LB available
3 - Best G available
4 - BPA

I'm with you on the 4. Hope that TT works some deals for some picks say from round 3 on down. The more depth at all positions the better. And as we all know, there are gems to be had in the latter rounds.

I'm curious if TJ Lang can play center. I've seen reports on Packer Update and elsewhere that he may be able to do so. If he could, they could shift Barclay to LG, and have a line of Sherrod-Barclay-Lang-Sitton-Bulaga with Newhouse as tackle depth and EDS as interior depth. That wouldn't be so bad.

It's hard to comment now based on who will be available, but I'd like to see a D-line or Linebacker picked in the 1st round.

Dion Jordan is a REALLY interesting prospect. He's a very similar to prospect to Aldon Smith. Very tall and lean, with a very explosive first step and great ability to turn the corner. He would be hard to pass up at 26 IMO. The Giants had Strahan, Umenyiora, Kiwanuka, and Tuck AND still drafted Pierre-Paul with their 1st round pick a few years ago.

Dion is your typical boom or bust pick. He has huge upside, but he's very raw. Probably the most athletic OLB in this draft. Oregon had him covering the slot receiver often

One thing GB is lucky with heading into the draft is they are set at CB, which might be the hardest position to hit on in the draft. A group that includes Shields, Williams, House and Hayward is pretty damn good.

i strongly agree. There's a pretty good opportunity for a trade down here too. A lot of the guys the Packers should target would be there in the mid to early 2nd round (Brown, Minter, Nico Johnson)

Tyler Eiffert is the early favorite for the Packers #1 pick. I am not sure if the draftnicks are picking up on something or are just guessing.
As for this years draft i have been reading it is very thin on top (first round high 2nd round grades) QB, O-Tackles, and centers. Very strong with defensive line talant , strong on 2nd round grade Wides and it has a good crop of Safties. Ted also likes guys with a high size to speed ratio, that is big guys who can run. So the value pick at 26 might be on the D-line.
The Packers may get a couple of couple 4 or 5 round comp picks this year.
I think the Packers have to get a wide in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Jordy and Jones are free agents after next year. It takes the Packers at least a year to develop a wide, so Ted needs to cover himself at that position.

Jennings and JJ each were big contributors as rookies. And you could argue that Jordy and Cobb did pretty well given that they weren't going to crack the starting lineup as rookies.

Yes it does take Packers wide at least a year to develop into a starting wide according to MM. Cobbs, Jones, and Nelson all had limited roles their first year. Jennings was the exception.
It does not mean they will not be contributor their rookie year, it means rookies will not be incorporated into the whole offensive package. For wide’s there is a huge difference between the college and pro game.

And the big news of the day the Packers sign all 8 membersof thier pratice squad to new contracts.

You improve the OL and RB and suddenly you don't NEED 4 good/great wides. I would even go so far as to say that if you upgrade the OL, we're good with what we have at RB and WR, even if all we have left is Cobb, Nelson and Jones.
