It will be interesting to see if they re-sign him. Clearly this was a move to get his bloated cap number off the books, but I can't imagine him going somewhere else at his age. His best days as a CB are behind him so no one will sign him to a lot of money to do that and he hasn't truly played Safety before so no one will give him big money for that. GB could represent the best deal both in terms of playing time and financially.
I don't think they did a cut and resign with Jones, he was a RFA I believe. They did do a cut and resign with Hawk. But that was an 11th hour deal, which makes the cutting of Woodson at this time a bit different and I'd think an indication that they are not looking to bring him back.
I agree with H5: "an indication that they are not looking to bring him back"

you can't tell me this is one of those times when someone calls the agent to say we're no longer interested in your client goodbye. they had a powwow and are moving on. Thanks for EVERYTHING Cwood - you da man! Enjoyed watching ya.

Who said no to Spencer but then said yes to Woodson?

A couple have discussed bring woody back and many have discussed that pass rusher guy is already too old and too expensive.
Amazing player. By far, TT's and aside from Reggie White, arguably GB's 2nd best FA signing ever.

Unfortunately for Woodson GB won a fair amount of games without him. It's a young mans game. And Woody just wasn't the same player anymore.

Different posters on each side of those two positions. You're trying to stir up non-existent schit. Just stop.
Yep, Woodson was an integral part of one of the great post-Lombardi eras the Pack has had. From 2007 - 2012, 5 double digit win seasons, 3 NFC North Titles, 2 NFC Championship appearances, 1 Super Bowl win.

During those years, in my opinion, he cemented himself into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame once he finally hangs them up. Just an incredible player to have picked up off the scrap heap.

Who knows, maybe we'll still see Woodson back, but his days of being a dominant type player look to be over. He looked pretty ordinary last year.
Can't say I'm surprised, but thought they might work a restructure, and for all we know they tried and he said no. Either way, he was a great Packer, thanks for the memories and "ONE GOAL, ONE HEARTBEAT, ONE PURPOSE"!!!!
@adbrandt
Remember how hard it was to sign Charles, even with only other suitor TB for much less $. I sounded like GB Chamber of Commerce!

Remember first minicamp practice when Woodson arrived: different level of player. Elite athlete, WRs locked down as never before.

‏@adbrandt
Woodson had some initial clashes with structure in GB but worked through them and became trusted leader. Presence will be missed.

‏@adbrandt
Woodson release part of philosophy in GB: draft and develop, create pipeline of talent, don't be afraid to play young players.

6'1" 200lb warrior. Not the same player but his leadership is going to be missed.

What is this? Old school Batman?
I don't doubt that his breaking his collar bone twice in two years played a part in this decision. Plus the other nicks and stuff; he's showing his age and the probability that he can't stay healthy for a season. Woodson was great, and maybe they bring him back at a lower rate and a reduced role, but his best days are behind him. It will be interesting to see if anyone picks him up.
DPOY, punched his ticket to Canton and a SB. It was a great run for a great Packer but that's the nature of the business. I thought they might bring him back at a reduced salary, but that appears pretty unlikely.

Best of luck to him and I look forward to seeing his name in the ring at Lambeau.
