Probably the most dominant individual performance in a team sport ever. 20 strikeouts. 1 hit, an infield hit off the glove of Kevin Orie that just as easily could have been ruled an error. The best Game Score for a 9 inning game ever. All against a Houston team that went 102-60 and featured Bags, Biggio, Alou, Bell. Only one of the 20 strikeouts was vs the opposing pitcher. The first K to Biggio, that fastball literally explodes Bagwell absolutely turned to jelly at 0:53 A wiffeball slider...

Think the wildest part of how good he was that day is 9 K's were looking against that lineup. And that it completely over staged Clemons first ever 20k game a week after it happened. Cheating ****.

I'm getting my anniversaries wrong. Clemens was 30 that no one missremembered. I suck at anniversaries. I've been married 21 years. I think.

And we completely missed Goeff Jenkins anniversary for his 3 home run game against the Expos on April 29, 2001. Perhaps the most dominant game ever by a Brewer hitter in 2001 .

Kerry Wood and Mark Prior oh where have all the good ones gone?? Wood had one magical season and was never heard from again. He's the 50HR version of Brady Anderson. Prior was decent until injuries took their toll. One of the most dominant college pitchers ever. Wood was basically a .500 pitcher and unfortunately the hype didn't match the performance beyond one season.

I'd argue that your descriptions are completely backwards. Wood's rookie year was very very good. And, after missing 99, he had solid years in 2001-2003, and he had solid years as a relievers especially his last two with Chicago. For sure, he didn't approach his rookie year again, but he pitched 14 years in total, and was solid for much of it. Whereas Prior is far more the pitcher you described Wood as. One amazing year his second year, followed by 3 injury plagued seasons (with a decent...
