In that game-winning play, it illustrates exactly what is wrong with Jennings. He dribbles the clock down, gets himself into trouble, and as the clock winds down those the ball to Ellis with a second left as if to say "Here, you do it". That Ellis made the shot is irrelevant at this point. You're no franchise player if you make that dumba$$ play in your 4th season. You're no "baller".

Want to see how it's done? Watch Harden, or Irving, or of course Kobe or LeBron or Durant. THAT'S a franchise player. Brandon, your a above average but nowhere near great player. You do not deserve to be paid like an All Star, much less a franchise player. 3 years, $27M and let him prove it. At that point if he's a franchise player (unlikely) he can get his franchise money in his prime.
I'd let him walk, IMO he is below average. He's had enough time, if he is not the man he'll never work hard enough over a long period to prove otherwise. Add in the fact when he doesn't want to play hard ... the team, owner and fans suffer. Less is more and at the trading deadline, I'd of got rid of him for a song and not a very good one.

BTW, IMO ... the effort by BJ on that last play smelled of "On purpose".
Which would be stupid. He's an assett. To whatever degree you think that is fine- but not a player you give away. He young, dumb, and typically likens himself to a star player. I am sure he blames playing in MKE as the reason he's not an All Star. of course he would be wrong.

Try to sign and trade after they get bounced by the Heat. Don't let him walk for nothing.
It seemed like for several games in a row that Jennings was trying to be a real point guard (huge bump in assists) letting guys like Redick do more shooting/scoring and that Ellis was taking the ball to the hoop more often and upping his shooting percentage. I guess we'll see if this positive trend continues or reverses. Almost like the Big 3 10+ years ago, 3 scorers and no inside game to speak of. Except maybe that Sanders is an upgrade over Ervin Johnson.
The other thing that's changed dramatically is that since Skiles left this team is not playing much defense.

I think that's OK because their scoring has increased quite a bit, but I think Boylan is simply letting these guys play to their strengths instead of forcing the issue. Adding Redick has opened things up for Jennings and Ellis in terms of their game(s)- Ellis driving to the hoop more often and Jennings looking to make the pass instead of just launching shot after shot.

Sanders, Redick, and Ers were all DNPs and werent expected to play - nagging injuries. All will be fine in a few days or less.
Its all about the starting 5. Boylan's set-in-stone 5 is not good enough to start games consistently EVERY night and it gets them fighting on a steep Uphill on those nights.

He needs to change his starting 5 from night to night based on matchups. Larry Sanders needs help on the inside sometimes, LucRic and Ily do not help there. Only 1 of those 2 should ever start. The real decision should be whether you start Redick or another big guy besides Sanders.

jmo.
They have big men- they're young, but they can be really good. Sandrs and Henson need to be a dynamic duo inside.

But I agree- its time to move on from the Jennings/Ellis plan. Jennings being pissed about being benched revealed a lot- he says "you don't see any all stars on this team, do you?" in response. If anything, since then Ellis has improved in the effort department. But Jenningd disappears.

He doesn't want to be here, and he blames the team for why he hasn't Ben more successful. Move on.

With Harris, Henson, and Sanders they were starting to build a nucleus of young players that they had drafted. The Reddick trade was the type you make when you are one player away from something significant, ideally more than an 8th seed. I'm guessing that they goodbye to at least 2 of the 3 (Ellis, Reddick, Jennings) and blow it up again after this year.
I think they still have some good young players to build around- i.e. Sanders, Henson, and Udoh and Ersan and Moute are good complimentary players that don't cost them a fortune.

In theory, they could let the entire rest of the team walk. Dalembert, Redick, Dunleavy, Pryzbilla, and Daniels have expiring deals and there's a good chance that Ellis opts out and Jennings goes elsewhere.

Personally, that's not the worst thing in the world because if that all happens they only have about $28MM committed to salaries in 2013/2014 then and they could go out and add some more pieces.

Tobias Harris though is the real head scratcher. He was having a great offseason and did some nice things when he did see action but then for some reason he sat on the bench and then we find out he got traded. The only thing I can think of is that he was a headcase or did something to force his way out of Milwaukee. Whatever the case this now appears like it was the wrong move to make because he can play and they will need a SF.
