Some comments on "getting jobbed":

I thought the PF on Matthews would've been enforced (half the distance and automatic 1st down), then the PF on Staley (back 'em up 15). I assume since the ref said "by rule" the penalties offset, the fact that they were dead ball fouls must factor in.

I have no problem with the call on CM3; it wasn't particularly flagrant, but it's too obvious a call for the refs to not make. I have no problem with the call on Staley; it was deserved no matter what flimsy excuse the league wants to offer.

I have a BIG problem with the league saying the call on Staley was "wrong", without also mentioning there should've been a call on Boldin. He should've been tossed right then and there; not because he had a big day against us, but because it was deserved no matter who it was.

Also saw lots of taunting going on. I thought that was a "point of emphasis" this year?

I don't understand why the league would say Staley shouldn't have been flagged? The ref obviously saw SOMETHING he thought was unnecessary from him. Players were scrumming all day, I find it hard to believe that ref flagged him for just running over and shoving. I don't get why the league is constantly backing the refs up on bogus calls, but undermines them with something that they have no basis for saying.

Thing is GD, the call on Staley is a JUDGEMENT call. Those are missed every other play it seems. The extra down is a MISINTERPRETATION of the rules themselves. Apples and oranges and the league is trying to say one negates the other. Total BS.

Green Bay Packers: Inside linebacker A.J. Hawk was the only middle/inside linebacker who had more missed tackles (3) than solo tackles (2) last week.

Guard Flip

"Much was made this offseason about the Packers flipping their guards from their usual spots as Josh Sitton has now moved in at left guard while T.J. Lang is starting on the right. It wasn’t a good start on either side as both players graded at an identical -4.0, though for slightly different reasons."

much more in the article

Having to play along side lang and sitton is effecting EDS or EDS would be grading out better.

And having to play along side 10 other guys is effecting hawk or hawk would be grading out better.

On the play that Eddie Lacy leaped for a touchdown, EDS completely whiffed on his block, ran 5 yards into the endzone, then turned around and raised his arms up in a "touchdown" signal while he stood and watched the play.

The cool thing about having the likes of Bush, EDS, Hawk, Slodum and Campen on the team is we always have a built-in person to blame.  It saves quite a bit of time analyzing.

I thought the offensive line, as a whole, played pretty damn good against the Niners.  I also thought the worst performance on the offensive line against SF wasn't handed in by EDS.

One that made me laugh but also respect was McGinn's comment about Bush playing dimeback where he attempted to take on Mike Iupati's block. Yeah, he got utterly destroyed but in hindsight how many corners would even try to clog that lane.

No, opinions on McGinn vary because sometimes he posts outstanding articles and other times his takes are horrible.  I don't know that one should draw an opinion on him overall based on any one singular piece.

For instance, I think his analysis pieces are really good, as he incorporates perspectives from scouts and a network that you know he has spent an entire career building.  I think he sucks in interviews just because he comes off as a guy who isn't great with people.  Listen to his podcast with Dunne sometime - he's not a guy who likes the new reality of having to deal somewhat directly with readers.

He also stirs the pot from time to time, which in the modern world of 'journalism' you're supposed to do.  He's also still got a bit of a skid mark on his chest from that horrible, horrible piece on tacking in training camp and injuries, as folks will probably remember that pile of stupid much like some remember Bedard as the 'Rodgers = Jay Fiedler' guy.  Some takes are so bad they stick to you for awhile.

What about his run blocking?  No BS, I saw him go several plays without even touching a defender.  Just complete whiffs.

That's what he's supposed to do on that play.

As much as I hate Cris Carter, Jordy's catch reminded me of him doing the same thing countless times. The ball out of bounds, the lean, the toe-tap were all perfect. How he caught that Rodgers bullet while doing all of that was awesome!

As great as AR is and as much credit as he gets, he gets help from catches like that.  Yeah the WRs get paid to do that but show me how many WR corps in the NFL make as many tough catches as ours does on a regular basis.

Laughable.  Now go analyze the overall body of work for EDS, a "development" project going 4 years strong.  He's a backup, not a starter.  You work with what you have and some areas are weaker than others, that's just fact.  He's a weak link going on 4 years now.  You want to think he's super man after one game, go ahead.

EDS, always playing to be "not the worst".  That's like saying you only have a slight case of herpes.

I have hope that EDS will develop into a stable player (that's me being positive).  Again, I would be okay with a average, consistent player (see AJ Hawk).  I look forward to Tretter coming off the PUP and getting some experience.
