"Nothing wrong with drafting and developing - see then niners first-rate OL, LB, QB, and RB units in support of that assessment.

However, free agency can be used successfully to complement the draft, and that is simply where the packers have not been good recently. There are multiple prominent examples: Anquan Boldin to the Ravens/Niners, Drew Brees to the Saints, Jared Allen to the Vikes, Justin Smith to the Niners, etc... to name a few."

The Niners have been drafting near the top for years. They SHOULD have some players. The problem with paying for FAs is you're putting all of your eggs in one basket and you have to find a way to pay your own players. Boldin wasn't as free agent. That was a trade. The Saints got lucky with Brees because he was coming off what many thought was a career threatening injury, and Brees made his money AFTER he joined the Saints. Truth is, there just aren't lots of free agents just floating around for people to sign. You might have an argument if the Packers were always well below the cap, but they're not. TT is doing it right. They are in contention every year. More than anyone else but the Patriots can say, including the Niners.

any suggestions about following the Viking model for team building deserves to be mocked, but thanks for trumping it for mentioning how Jerod Allen to the vikes and Boldin to the Ravens were free agent moves.

The strength of the 49ers offense is their o line.  They are starting 3 first round picks.  We, on the other hand, have our two first round picks on IR.  Would be nice to see how our o line would be if Bulaga and Sherrod had not been injured, and playing to the potential we saw when drafting them the past few years.

I don't agree with that. I know it's fashionable to say that- refs didn't lose this game, blah blah blah. But the truth is the 49ers got an extra play, which in turn became a TD instead of a FG.

In a game as close as this was, that one change makes a difference. Everything after it was impacted by it because it lead to points. Don't minimize it by spouting a cliche...

Yeah, Reid looked really good for his first game, unlike Jennings and McMillan who looked like they were playing their first pro games.

Big difference in talent level there.

Actually, the NFL has admitted that it was the 49ers that got jobbed.  There should have never been a penalty on Staley, and it should have been 1st and goal.  Also, Matthews should have been immediately ejected from the game for throwing a punch.  The packlers weren't jobbed.  They played a good game against a great opponent, but they weren't jobbed.

Blown calls happen all the time. Yeah, Staley shouldn't have been flagged but that kind of stuff happens every week. What doesn't happen very often is a misappropriation of punishment, which is what happened in this case. It's inexcusable.

Only reason the NFL came out and said Staley should not have been flagged is to take the publics attention of the fact that yet another NFL officiating screw up changed the dynamics of an important game. Anything to save their image.

Not really sure that call changed the dynamics of the game. Good teams typically overcome whatever bad calls there may be and the Packers had plenty of opportunities to do so. Turnovers and a failure to consistently move the ball when it really mattered killed them.

Not sure the blown call had a major impact on the game as much as some of the drive killing penalties and the two turnovers did.   And Ross making a couple of dumb decisions to take the ball out of the endzone on the returns.

Something that hasn't been talked about as much is GB had terrible field position for most of the game.   On the other hand, it seemed like the Niners had the ball on the 40 yard line just about every time they got it.

I was ticked about this game for about 15 minutes after but it's one game and they have to look past it and concentrate on RGIII and the Redskins.   With a tough game coming up next week at Cincy you really need to win this one this week, and unfortunately the Redskins are in a similar situation.  Neither team wants to start out 0-2 and 0-2 within the NFC.

From what I remember reading they didn't want to use House because he has to play one of the outside corner positions instead of the slot and they wanted to leave 37 and 38 on the outside.  I guess they were worried about House getting toasted deep.

The monikers that people choose to be identified by are just that: monikers. Nothing has "changed" or has "morphed". I've been on here for 13 years, and I'm the same guy. You seem to be living in some weird Reality Show World where there are "bad guys" and "good guys".

People with different opinions than yourself about A FOOTBALL TEAM are 'pussies", have "vaginal flow" problems, etc. Just because they typed something pertaining to an NFL game that really has absolutely NO bearing on your life whatsoever? You don't know me. You don't know any of these people. Is this how you respond to people in real life? I'm guessing not. You're probably a good dude, but if there's one thing that is indisputable, it's the internet has made a lot of not-so-tough guys feel pretty good about themselves.

Unfortunately you seem to be one of those guys. That's too bad because we root for the same team and I'm sure you know your football. So I wish you would stick to that. What you do is cheap and...well...lazy. But who am I to say, right? So have at it IC. I know people like you and I understand. I get it. Think up so more "vagina jokes" and wing em out there. They're always "hilarious"...

You could have saved a lot of keystrokes and just admitted you are a pussy.

Have you been here since the move?  Curious about your thoughts on how it looks since you seem to have a keen eye for design.  Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised you were even able to navigate your way here.  Regardless, glad to have you back, keep up the humor!

Ok... I just find it a bit a bit odd they wouldn't find a way to get a superior defender on the field.  I'm probably simplifying it a bit by assuming all of the dbacks are interchangeable.

Like I said, I get it. Really, I DO understand. I just want you to realize that it wasn't ME that beat you up in high school and took your milk money IC. So calling me a "pussy" from some cornfield in Iowa is NEVER going to make you feel better about yourself. Now back to the Lifetime channel Gilbert Grape and go make momma some eggs!  Goddamn you're so f'n cute! You crack me up!

Your life is blaming someone else.

Here's the thing I love about pussys. When he sees a problem or deficiency, he attacks it via multiple angles. Then forgets what he says. He doesn't just whine about one non FA signing, he then whines about the entire draft position as well. I think the kworst/antiworst duo are going to have a fantastic run at timesfour.
