Sherrod looked decent last week. I'm holding out hope that today was an aberration, and he has a better showing next week.
This certainly is somewhat unsettling, however.
Not sure if Elliot was lined up against a future car salesman, but 2 sacks and a forced fumble is pretty damn good for a series.

3rd RD pick Khyri Thornton hasn't really shown much so far. Other guys up front are making plays but I didn't see him do anything out there today

Hubbard had a decent couple plays when he finally got a chance to play.
Scouts watching Thornton said he's very raw and will need a year on the PS to develop.
Pennell could be what we hoped Lyerla would be....a very talented guy who had attitude problems in college, but overcomes them in the NFL.
I don't see how the can cut Mike Pennel. Dude was manhandling the Rams today.

He's probably had less than two dozen padded practices since coming off PUP.
Pennel is making it. He's been doing well in camp and has now stood out in both preseason games. Dumping Worthy helped his odds even more
Sherrod looked great last week and has been having a solid camp, I say they give him a year
I'll say this about Sherrod... It's one game, in preseason, on the heels of a devastating injury. I didn't see anything all that special pre-injury, none the less... No need to slam the door on him just yet. If he can grow into a serviceable backup, that's pretty much all we can hope for at this point.

He has 2 games to right his ship. The thing with this kid is Sherrod looks the part.
There are not 6'6 325 pound tackles with 34+ inch arms out there. It's why, if you have anywhere near those physical traits, tackles his size get umpteenth chances.
But without a doubt he was on skates all day. Let's see if he gets this "cleaned up" with 2 games to go.
How many times does it have to proven that this size thing is a bunch of BS? Being a football player trumps all.
Getting beat by Sims is one thing. ONCE. Getting beat by Michael Sam & any other 3rd string grocery bagger, is entirely another thing. Time to man up & play the swing tackle position like your draft status & supposed athletic ability warrants.

Bak - Try hard guy with average feet... potential stud for 10 years.

Jordy - not fast, average athleticism.... stud
Sherrod - Physical specimen as well... not so much.
Jamal Reynolds - size/speed ratio through the roof... can't play football.
All of these draft write ups, measurables, speed, hand size, foot speed... blah, blah, blah. It's a big pile of crap.
We all know Flynn isn't much. He's a serviceable back-up. Sherrod needs to play better. I'd rather see him tackle the defender than give us this Ole' bull$hit.

Flynn made all of the right decisions today with the #2/#3's. Tolzien missed a few decisions and floated a few. Sorry. Don't see them cutting Flynn just yet. There has to be some agonizing cuts for that, and frankly, the 2nd string and later don't look that impressive to warrant that. I said it at the chat room, the so called depth on this team is a farce.
