If he forced them to stay until 1 in the morning and then gave each of them a thousand dollar tip, it would change how you looked at it.

But I doubt he did that.

IIRC, if he plays in 2024 he will have more seasons under his belt than any TE in league history. Good on him

@JayGlazer:  A little Sunday scoopage for @ChicagoBears fans, @MarcedesLewis89 tells me he is going to Chicago to meet with team tomorrow with intention of re-signing there tomorrow. Barring something unforeseen this will be Lewis’s 19th season as he comes in to help a young QB. 19 seasons, unreal

As you say good for him. He's basically a 6th offensive lineman on the field the last 3-4 years, but he has a lot of value in that role.

Honestly his biggest value is keeping Caleb's head on straight.  Locker room leader who isn't going to let a rookie prima donna get away with stupid shit.

Well, certain people and tipping. Just saying. But it is a fact.

GMs, their associated departments, and HC are Arthur Blank's blind spot. I don't think he is an owner that interferes, but he hires the worst people and hands them the keys.
This is supposedly the reason he couldn't reach a deal with Belicheat; he wasn't willing to fire McKay and give Billy that kind of power.
I certainly can't explain why...

Then gives that power to Fontenot and Morris.
Can't explain that one, either.

** Edited to add, To be fair, Fontenot drafting MP Jr. did make them an instant division winner and playoff team!
Kinda like certain neighbors to the South....

Bears pivot back to Arlington Heights stadium deal.

I am not surprised, many thought Warren was just playing an angle with lakefront stadium proposal to leverage a suburban deal and given his history as an aggressive operator it was to be expected.  The previous administration was done with the corrupt city & state politicans who short-changed them on the Soldier Field rebuild 20+ years ago and were even less reasonable now and thats why they bought the Arlington property before Warren arrived.   Deal expected by the end of this season with start of construction targeted for next year.

me neither.

But you have to admit going from the Monsters of the Midway to the
Suburban Supplicants is a pretty big fall from football grace. And then these Suburban Supplicants are gonna build a domed stadium too ? Shameful

Chicago used to be a tough town and the bears were a fearsome squad

Now  ?

Bears sign their 1st round draft picks.  WR Odunze gets a 4 years $22.7 million and a 5th year option.  Caleb Williams gets $39 million fully guaranteed with a $25.5 million signing bonus and a 5th year option.   WOW.

I think this was posted before Caleb signed

For context, we had a crazy monday night in Chicago with a tornado producing leading edge of a front generating concurrent warnings that stretched over 70miles from north to south, and 10 tornados on the ground at one particular time.

And then this:

Caleb Williams will NOT play in Thursdays HoF game.

I understand most teams don't play their starter much, if at all, during the pre-season. But he's never taken a snap against professionals. They already know what they have in Bagent- a serviceable (2-2 in starts last year) bu QB. Perhaps they're trying to save their starting linemen and will not risk the anointed one behind rookie blockers. We'll see who they start in the Oline.

I live in the western suburbs so I get all the Bears hype I can stomach. I have yet to see a video vignette of WIlliams throwing downfield during training camp eg those meaningless throws to undefended receivers that pump up the fan base. All of the quotes and commentary from his teammates seem to praise his leadership and effort with no mention of his actual passing.

It's my gut feeling that he may not be as NFL ready as they thought he was.
