That ATL offense was humming when we were confronted with it in January.
Doubling up on JJ is a fine idea if you have the horses to pull it off. We were in the deficit column at the first snap at CB so there really was no one available to help. It's also a fine idea if their offense doesn't have much after their #1 WR - as in other WR's and then at RB. ATL has at least 2 other legitimate WR's plus they have 2 legit RB's. You can say "just don't let JJ beat you" all you want, it doesn't make it a good idea vs a multi-weapon offense.
Did the D get torched? Yes. And DC is the DC so that falls at his feet to some extent. But to pretend it's as easy as bumping JJ at the line or doubling up on him is just blather. It certainly will be interesting WK2 this season.
Defense is either going to hold their water in 2017 or they're going to **** the bed again in the playoffs and Dom will be fired. That's about the most optimistic view I have for the 17 D. It ain't horrible. It's a win-win scenario.
Unless the D ****s the bed, nothing happens, and we're all 9 pages deep in July 2018 having the same player, injury, coach circle jerk for the seventh consecutive year. That would get messy.
Capers isn't going anywhere. It would take a papal dispensation for MM to fire Capers.

Perhaps, or perhaps not. I still see him as a #2 free safety. He has some skill as a ballhawk when the ball is in the air but has trouble sticking to his man in press coverage. Groin or no groin pull. Before the draft (ranking him as a safety) some slammed him on taking bad angles and slow catchup speed. If he is taking Hyde's spot in the slot as a corner/safety I expect the same struggles and hopefully some successes.
In any case we shall see.
