Tough call on drafting a QB.  AR will be 35 this year.  I know he wants to play into his 40’s, but that doesn’t mean he can.  I certainly wouldn’t put it past him as he shows no signs of slowing down... but Father Time is undefeated as they say.

Something to think about it guess...

IMO, we should be drafting top players at every position. If AR continues to play at a high level, do like the Patriots did and trade the kid. This, IMO was one of TT’s failings.

I agree with you, Henry. But I differ by believing that this team can win between 6 and 9.

Big drop off, but we just witnessed it.  So another question is, should you have (and somehow be able to keep) a better than average QB at all times when you are lucky enough to have a Rodgers starting?  At the cost of...well, a lot.

Are we really that bereft of talent?

Depth, yeah.  This team has very little in the chamber as far as young guys who are more than scrub depth for when #1's go down or retire.

The concern about Rodgers playing into his 40s is that his game is based on his outstanding movement in and around the pocket. This leaves him open to the types of hits that Barr and Shea Mcclellin did that essentially ended Packer seasons with (at least in terms of getting home field and byes for the playoffs). Brady doesn't get exposed in odd positions like that (neither did/does Payton Manning, Drew Brees, etc.). - at least not as much.

He's smart.  Smart enough to overcome any deteriorating skill set.

Keep a rock solid oline around him and sign Marcedes Lewis to a ten year contract to block and I'm sure he'd pass all day long from the pocket.

I see no real difference in Kizer and Hundley, which is why I keep Kizer.  If he can do the same as Hundley with 3 less years in the system and 2 less years in the league, he's the guy I keep.

I still want see more of Boyle. Right now, I'd take Boyle over both Hundley and Kizer. If Boyle doesn't make the roster, he'll get claimed by someone. I'd bet neither Hundley nor Kizer would get claimed  after other teams watched the tape of GB's last preseason game.

This is my completely unrealistic hope and something another poster mentioned.  Don't know who, too lazy to look.

Kizer and Hundley are playing to see who doesn't get cut or if either is even worth keeping.

I also hope 1990's Monica Bellucci pulls up to my door in a yacht and makes me her love slave, which would be interesting in a landlocked state.  That scenario is more likely than Boyle making the 53.

That's the problem....how can we keep Boyle without exposing him to waivers at some point?
The most obvious answer is to keep him on the active roster, and say bye to Hundley, but I'd fall over flat if that actually happened. And I can't see the team keeping 3 QBs, just to make one inactive for game day with the depth problems at other positions.

It may help that some veteran QBs may become available at cutdown, and teams would rather have someone like them rather than Kizer or Boyle.

Rather keep Boyle and cross fingers that AR makes it through the year. Boyle gets snaps late in garbage time. Neither Hundley nor Kizer was impressive in games so far, and while Boyle didn't look like a total savior, he impressed with his quick release, ability to stand in the pocket, and he has a nice touch on his deep passes. Time to develop and really see what he has...

Yup, put him or whomever the sub is in sooner rather than later in garbage time of both wins and losses.   Serves a triple  purpose, gives him experience, gives management something to evaluate and every play AR is on the bench is a play he can't get hurt on.  #12 may not like it but it is good for the team and he does not need to pad his stats.   Just win baby.

is a guy who is 11-22 (50%) for 167 against PS players really ready to compete for a backup spot? I know everyone loves a good rags to riches story but lets not let this love fest Boyle over

Isn't that the point?  They never will know what they have till they play him when it counts....I have seen the other 2 play when it counts, not impressed.  If they are not going to go out and get some one who can play he is as good of an option as the others.  If they were to look around, I suggest Teddy, seems to be a good kid, showed some promise in Minny and I like his determination after the injury.  A checkdown Charlie, dink and dunk guy who was well respected by his team may be just the ticket for a backup.

PS...liked the Boyle over reference.

Based on what GB has done in the past, I would be shocked if Hundley isn’t kept as the #2 and they try to put Boyle on the PS.

Agreed.   I don't know why everyone has their panties in a bunch over this.  None of the 3 turds we got behind Rodgers are going to win us a game if he goes down.    Also, it's not as if Boyle has a snowballs chance of being groomed to replace Rodgers in 3 years.

Its a big to do about nothing.   What we should be talking about is what serviceable vet QB is going to be cut from another team and do we have the cap space for that much needed insurance policy.

Teddy would be a perfect backup.  This offense isn't a long ball offense from a few years ago.

Rodgers yards per attempt from 2009-2014 was 8.41 (1st).

From 2015 to 2017, it's fell to 6.99 (25th).
