rookie WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s speed is obvious, but his his suddenness is also difficult to cover. Stops and starts on a dime. Shook Josh Hawkins on a couple comeback routes. Even beat Tramon Williams on red-zone slant, but throw was off. Very impressive athlete.

To be fair, this guy routinely beats Josh Hawkins on comeback routes.

Yep. In both pre-season games, his routes look good, he's getting separation, and he looks crisp. Just that minor detail of catching the ball.

All the MVS praise is surprising but good to hear. When he played college ball here in Raleigh, he couldnt catch a cold and didnt practice well - transferred to South Fla.

When we drafted him I was shocked and thought it a wasted pick. When Rodgers btched about effort of the young WRs I had a hunch who may have been the target.  Im glad hes making the most of his opportunities now

Sooner if Cobb hits the tub early.

I hope he proves me wrong but I think keeping Cobb over Nelson was a huge mistake.   Neither creates separation like they did a few years ago but Jordy has twice the catch radius. In other words, Jordy doesn't need the separation like Cobb does.   Both are good going playground when a play breaks down, but I think Jordy had the edge there as well.   That was 90% of his red zone TDs last year.

Can we have video proof of the 90%?? 😃

You have to play shell coverage against that dude.  He'll eat you alive in press man.

Really hoping Moore, MVS, and EQ get snaps from the start Friday night in Oakland. Maybe Geronimo gets a few snaps. Nothing gained having Adams or Cobb out there. Same goes for Tonyan.

From the “Not Breaking News” department. Pettine says Clay, Perry, Gilbert, and Fackrell have been the top 4 OLBs in camp but cautioned that Fackrell has been up and down and generally inconsistent.

Starting D looks solid. Just need all of them to not miss any time.....

Cobb on the trading block?

The Ringer's Mike Lombardi reported on his GM Street podcast that the Packers have shopped Randall Cobb.
Lombardi conceded he doesn't know Green Bay's asking price, but said he's heard Cobb is available. "I know his name's being shopped around," said the former GM. Recovering from surgery on his long-troublesome ankle, Cobb has yet to play this preseason. The Packers have given Equanimeous St. Brown and DeAngelo Yancey extensive slot snaps, perhaps foreshadowing Cobb's departure via trade or release. Cobb is owed $9.5 million in salary and bonuses, so teams likely won't be knocking down the Packers' door. Aug 22 - 6:37 PM

WR group desperately needs experience.  Unless we are in more of a rebuild than anyone realized, you can't roll with Adams, Allison, rookie, rookie, rookie.  Graham certainly helps but still way too thin on experience.

Sounds like it’s Hundley and all the 2s tonight on offense in the first half. Then Kizer with all the 2s in the second half. Might not even see Boyle at all until next week.

Should be a good look at depth tonight. Really hope Gruden let’s Carr start with Cooper and Jordy so the young corners get a nice test

Whatever happened to playing the starters the whole first half in game 3 of the preseason?

Rodgers is a beast, but he’ll have, what, less than 10 live snaps before the regular season starts?

Can’t just go 2 pre season games with 18 regular season games. Starters would go 20 games plus playoffs and kids would never sniff meaningful snaps.

CBA offseason contact rules altered how pre season games are managed forever.

Im totally fine watching the 2s tonight to see who’s worth a spot on the 53. Especially if Oakland plays 1s the first half.

EQ, MVS, Moore, Tonyan. Gilbert vs starting Tackles. Aaron Jones busting the rust off. Adams vs starting interior guys. Burks getting off blocks vs Lynch.

Lots to evaluate tonight.

J'Mon is clearly talented, but it would be nice if he could demonstrate the WR skill of catching the ball.

That said, the Law Firm of Marquez Valdes Scantling might just be the real deal
