Oh fuck them and their flash in the pan bullshit.
Itβs been a while since the league had a βtough guyβ HC for the media ballwashers to salivate overβ¦Campbell is their wanna-be Bill Cowher/Dave Wannstedt. But Iβd wager he will be more Wannstedt when his career is done.
They are two middling seasons from playing in front of 25,000 people again.

Now the question will be if Goff hit his ceiling last year or can he improve this season?
Something tells me, his ceiling was last year. Enjoy that $53M QB Lie-Downs

during a trip to the zoo as a young boy, we happened to be in the building where the hippos were kept as they were moving them from one 'pen' to another.
The one they were going into was sparkling clean, and as soon as the first one got in there he started shitting.
I don't know if anyone has ever seen a hippo shit, but they use their tails as a paddle while doing so.
Let's just say I have never seen anything so foul in my life. The sight and sound was bad enough, but the smell...
It forced an IMMEDIATE retreat to outside.
So this is what the dead zone has morphed into. We are reduced to talking about hippo shit.
Iowacheese comes here for the hippo shit advice.

Beef would hit that
From The Athletic
Progression isnβt always linear, but Love displayed the physical traits and skills of an elite quarterback and produced like one in last seasonβs final eight games.
If he makes that leap, the Packers already have enough talent to be one of the most explosive offenses in the league. If some of their youth have true breakouts, this could become a truly elite offense for the foreseeable future.

Actually it is peak X4 right there. Good to see we can still talk shit around here.
If that hippo had a medical condition causing excessive movements, that would be protected by HIPAA.

Ty Dunne interview with Steve Calhoun from August of 2022 via GoLongTD
Steve Calhoun is a QB guru who has worked with young Jordan since back in high school. Quite an interesting read from 2 years ago
https://www.golongtd.com/p/he-...the-top-quarterbacks
TD: Look into that crystal ball. You know him and his game and his drive β maybe most importantly β better than anybody.
How great can Jordan Love be?
Calhoun: "I think his ceiling is really, really high. He can be one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. He doesnβt have any wear and tear on his body. Heβs almost in a situation like Aaron where Aaron had to sit behind Brett Favre for a couple of years and now heβs played 13? I see Jordan doing the same thing and having that type of success.
The biggest thing about quarterback or any position in the NFL, I think it comes down to live game reps. Thatβs where you really gain your confidence and really understand how to play the positionβthrough live reps. You canβt simulate that in practice. As hard as coaches try to do it, even myself, I try to create an atmosphere or a game situation out there in the offseason. But you canβt. Itβs only through those live reps that you can really start to take your game to the next level."
And what happened when Love got some live game reps ?
He got better. Much better
Wooooo !!!

Which means it's time for Jaire The Samurai to return.
Iβll be honest. When Love threw that horrific pick 6 against Detroit before the half I was way, way down on him. Thatβs not a play a QB makes in week 9 after the way he finished 2023. He was regressing. He was CJ Stroud playing with a huge contract with an βI got mineβ. Look.
Chicago the following week wasnβt much better. Blocked FG bailed it out but still.
Not sure if itβs coaching, him, or players. Heβs got a different bounce now. Someone got to him.
He might just be a guy that always tries to make a play. Has he fired one out of bounds...ever? With him I'm kind of at the point where it is what it is. Every QB has their own flaws. He might learn, but he might not. Seems to me he's talented enough to win a Super Bowl with. Just might be a matter of things having to go our way to get there. We should know it's never easy and the only guarantee is a chance at it. Without Starks or Desmond Howard it's likely the last championship is still from the 60's. Being the last team standing is incredibly hard.
Shouldnβt be that difficult. They have a 1/30 chance of winning it every seasonβ¦.Vikings and Jets excluded for obvious reasons.
@ChilliJon posted:Not sure if itβs coaching, him, or players. Heβs got a different bounce now. Someone got to him.
Perhaps the backup QB actually winning 3 games..."got to him". I'm certain MLF told him to not put the ball in harms way too.
Deep throws are different. Go get em! Because even if picked off, it's basically a punt anyway & I want to see Watson go get the football while it's in the air.
The last 3 weeks Love has been doing a great job just taking what the defense gives him. Move the sticks! The Bears, Niners and Dolphins defenses don't suck. If Love keeps doing that, the Packers are going to win a lot of football games.
I can't help but think he can turn it around. My sense has been it's primarily about where he is setting the threshold between risk taking and caution. Last year it was set a bit lower so he made fewer errors, but this year he bumped it up a little too high. I think he just needs to bring it down a bit to find the best balance. I think he'll do it.
Love got healthy in the last month. I really don't think it's that complicated.
Upon the MCL injury in week 1, never having had that before, in a bulky brace and being told he probably wouldn't fully recover from that injury until the end of the season goes a long way explaining his play early on.
Then add on a weird groin injury likely due to overcompensating.
Now he's mostly healthy. His mobility is night and day. He's no longer thinking about his knee or groin. And that's made all the difference the last 3 weeks.
The OL has also ramped up the last several weeks. Which leads to an improved run game, which also makes Love's job easier.

Yep. If you look far beyond the MCL and groin injuries to explain some of the poor play you might be trying to hard to overlook the obvious.
My hope with Love is a Josh Allen type progression. You don't want to completely coach the gunslinger out of a gunslinger. I mean, you can't. But coach it to the point where it's a positive 3 or 4 times as often as it's a negative.

Yes. One of his biggest strengths is ability to move around the pocket. That was definitely missing the first few games he came back, which is why opposing teams went blitz heavy. That didn't work last year, it worked earlier this year, and he's starting to beat it again.
He also led the league in INT up until Kark threw like 50 in one game. Pressure may have had something to do with it. Let's hope he gets back to where he was when he was torching blitzes.
