re-watching some of the preseason games, more notably from Buffalo, we will be playing that 10 yard off coverage that drives me insane.  With keeping 'everything' in front, I don't know that it matters who will be put in on D, when you dont' get pressure every down, expect TB12 and other vet qb's to just spin it to the wr (with nobody pressing) and have them go make a play.  it's excruciating to watch that style of defense without studs that go EVERY down...I do hope that this was only a pre-season thing, but i hear the media regulars saying this is how it will be in the regular season, so with JAG's on the line and nothing outstanding in the LB corps, expect the defense to get picked apart by good teams.  Offense better hang 40+ each game, or we will be pretty bad...again, could just be the preseason, but I was not thrilled with the alignments...

Yes, very little in PS is given away for the regular season.  This seems especially so with GB/MLF playing almost no starters.

Though Barry is different, much of what he will do with the D will be similar to last year.  A few things seemed fairly consistent last year.  They limited the big chunk plays.  And while teams could move up and down the field, the D usually stiffed up closer to their own EZ.  We may see that again this year.

If this offense is going to be what we think it's going to be, we really only need to worry about our scoring D being a top half ranked unit.

When you have a top notch offense, I hate the bend but don't break D strategy.

You should be trying to get as many possessions for your offense as possible because your offense has a better chance to score than theirs does.   So the more possessions per game, the more likely that the cream will rise to the top and you will score more points.    It's a similar thought process to what you see in the NBA with the quick shot and lots of 3's.

If you score at a 70% rate but only get 6 possessions because the other team held the ball for 40 minutes on sustained drives, there is a higher chance that the you will be under your average score percentage because 1 bad drive means more with only 6 available.    If you press the issue and get 9 drives, you are more likely to end up closer to your average score rate.

So press up the CB's, send the backers often, and either get TO, quick stop or a big play.   Just get the fucking ball to Arron Rodgers.

That's how the Chiefs beat us back in the 2011 season when we had the best offense. I'm sure that's how other teams will approach us this year.

And when one of your CBs is Jaire? And if King, known of his huge cushions, can't play the same, get him out of there.

Seems like we are stuck in this old school mentality that big plays are the worst thing that can happen to a D.    That might be true if your offense sucks, but I would much rather give up a 3 play 1:30 drive for 7 then a 12 play 6 min drive for 7.

It's 7 points either way, the difference is that my D isn't gassed and I have more time with the ball on offense.
