@The Grinder posted:Well before it gets too late I would like to say this, I wanted Christian Watson REAL bad this draft. Kind of read about him a lot, watched you tube and fell in love with the idea of him a Packer. When the draft was happening I also wanted "D" players from the GA Bulldogs . Well I got my "wish" with the first two they were "my" two "D" players but no Watson . Then I told my wife I wish the Packers would trade both of their later 2nd rd choices and trade up and get him . Then " BAM" there on the TV ticker it said "Trade" the packers had traded both choices and moved up, then came the pick, " Christian Watson"!!!
I was like wow I am not believing this but yes it was real.
You didn't believe it was real until it happened to you?
@Fedya posted:You didn't believe it was real until it happened to you?
It's been a while, but I seem to have read that somewhere.
Alright give me a game or two. ROTFLMAO.
Itβs too bad Watson was injured for most of training camp as it was pretty obvious how raw he was yesterday.
His pure football speed is special if he can just keep on improving but obviously he was overwhelmed in his first NFL snaps of any kind. This was a guy who really needed to get snaps in the preseason and getting zero of them has clearly set him back. His ceiling is pretty high if he can stay healthy and just keep working hard to improve the things he is quite raw at.
That speed is special though, he looks like he might be a smidgen more explosively fast than MVS or even Jordy Nelson if he can clean up the stuff he is raw at.
he's raw, but the drops are not anything related to being raw, its focus and concentration...this needs to go away or he will be a fart in the wind.
@The Grinder posted:Probably drop a couple of passes and start a riot at X4 .
It is his first game and all.

Knock on him coming out was the drops.
Well give it to me if you want but pay back will be hell !
After watching it a couple times, it also looks like his outside hand didn't come around fast enough so the ball just fell through the gap between his hands. There was a hole in the bucket, so to speak. Unfortunate, as that had to dent his confidence, but even worse is that it had to dent AR's confidence in Watson. And we all know that can become fatal...
Matt LaFleur says nobody in #Packers locker room lost confidence in Christian Watson after his big drop. He says way the rookie WR responded throughout the game, not letting the mistake weighed on him, showed something.
Until he didnβt turn his head on a hot read and took them back out if the game.
LaFleur isnβt going to call out Watson publicly.

Rodgers took the blame for that play after the game. Said he was throwing it away due to rush pressure. Specifically said it wasnβt Watsonβs fault.
You hear this guy in interviews and he talks as fast as he runs. Gotta figure a fast talker like that with his intelligence level has a brain running at warp speed. When he dropped that ball his hands were on his helmet instantly. I bet his brain was going dontdropitdontdropitdontdropitdontdropitdontdropitdontdropit for those few seconds the ball was in the air and he was in the clear.
Agree... Get the kid some easy catches early and start building his confidence. Rodgers wants him to play like a 10 year vet but that ain't going to happen so you adapt and work with the tools you have, don't toss it aside for 3 quarters.
I am tired of hearing Rodgers "doesn't trust his receivers." If he truly wants to win, win now, and it's not just about his own stats, he would help them become better. Instead of pouting off by himself, he could talk to a guy, pat him on the back, tell him what he saw, etc. They're young, they have potential, but they're not there yet. It will only take longer for them to gel if Rodgers doesn't step up and give the young guys some confidence. And to do that, he cannot ignore them after they make a mistake; he has to throw them the ball again.
I mean these guys were in High School just a few years ago. You have to build their confidence up a little bit for the Pro game. Not shoot them shitty looks. Then not throw their way till it's too late.

Agreed. Stick to the game plan, you're not always the smartest guy in the room though you'll never admit it. Good thing is, it's probably only going to be Lazard, Doubs and Watson open as far as WR's, so he doesn't have too many reads.
Fandame, as always is correct.

He did. He threw him a perfect ball the first play and didnβt throw him under the bus when he didnβt get his head around.
The fact of the matter is if Watson had reliable hands and was a productive pass catcher in college he would have been a top 10 pick. He was available where he was due to not being a polished receiver and having question marks about his hands.
Time will tell if he will live up to the hype but heβs far from being a sure thing as a receiver. That doesnβt mean he shouldnβt get reps or opportunities. His ability to get downfield even as a decoy or get involved in the run or return game can being a lot of value to this team.
By the way, not sure Rodgers could make it any easier on that long throw. Thatβs a play that Iβll bet 95% of the receivers in the league can and should make.
Hopefully he learns from it and gets better.
hands problems (or drops) are all concentration related, once he is good with the mental part, the concentration should be there...and i said should, sometimes they never figure it out, he won't be here if that is the case. see j'mon moore.
there is no questioning his speed though, it's legit...but so is Usaine Bolt's.

Yah, no. Itβs one clichΓ© at a time and we need to get our best cliches out there because this is a one cliche at a time league. And you can bet that no one feels sorry for our clichΓ©s. I saw the effort with our cliches but itβs about consistency and execution and that cliche starts with me.
5 games in, CW has 6 catches for 51 yards I believe.
That projects to nearly 200 yards on the season.
What has Devonte Wyatt done noteworthy? I wouldnβt say heβs having a hard time finding playing time because this defense is playing lights out
Availability is an issue.
Another Hammie?
Not a great start, but rookie and injury issues so we'll see if there's improvement year 2.
I would have thought he'd have more shiftiness and open field moves based on highlight reels.
OH well, Doubs emerged. We'll see how Watson approaches things in the off-season and look for some improvement here soon
Watsonβs early season struggles to stay healthy and contribute have been a disappointment. He needs a lot of work, but canβt get it done with his hamstrings constantly pulling. Just not a good situation for a team in βwin nowβ mode with a 38 year old QB who isnβt getting any younger.
I just think Christian Moss needs more time to develop. Clearly, Tyreke Watson can run like the wind. As a pure athlete, Bo Watson is a top 5 pick.
Last, it sure seems like we put one over on the Vikings with that trade to get Christian Chase. I mean, it looks to me they could use a WR the caliber of Corey Bradford, I mean (inset cliche) Watson.

Don't forget the Clifford Franklin Secret Sauce
He's also a 23-year-old rookie, which was kind of a surprise but Fredokunst loves athleticism over age even, apparently.
Is Watson going to play? Should he play tonight, is it soon? Will he be on a "pitch-count" ? I just wanted to bump this thread up just in case we need it tonite. I gotta feeling !
