Well before it gets too late I would like to say this, I wanted Christian Watson REAL bad this draft. Kind of read about him a lot, watched you tube and fell in love with the idea of him a Packer. When the draft was happening I also wanted "D" players from the GA Bulldogs . Well I got my "wish" with the first two they were "my" two "D" players but no Watson . Then I told my wife I wish the Packers would trade both of their later 2nd rd choices and trade up and get him . Then " BAM" there on the TV ticker it said "Trade" the packers had traded both choices and moved up, then came the pick, " Christian Watson"!!!

I was like wow I am not believing this but yes it was real.

You didn't believe it was real until it happened to you?

It’s too bad Watson was injured for most of training camp as it was pretty obvious how raw he was yesterday.

His pure football speed is special if he can just keep on improving but obviously he was overwhelmed in his first NFL snaps of any kind.  This was a guy who really needed to get snaps in the preseason and getting zero of them has clearly set him back.  His ceiling is pretty high if he can stay healthy and just keep working hard to improve the things he is quite raw at.

That speed is special though, he looks like he might be a smidgen more explosively fast than MVS or even Jordy Nelson if he can clean up the stuff he is raw at.

After watching it a couple times, it also looks like his outside hand didn't come around fast enough so the ball just fell through the gap between his hands. There was a hole in the bucket, so to speak. Unfortunate, as that had to dent his confidence, but even worse is that it had to dent AR's confidence in Watson. And we all know that can become fatal...

You hear this guy in interviews and he talks as fast as he runs. Gotta figure a fast talker like that with his intelligence level has a brain running at warp speed. When he dropped that ball his hands were on his helmet instantly. I bet his brain was going dontdropitdontdropitdontdropitdontdropitdontdropitdontdropit for those few seconds the ball was in the air and he was in the clear.

I am tired of hearing Rodgers "doesn't trust his receivers." If he truly wants to win, win now, and it's not just about his own stats, he would help them become better. Instead of pouting off by himself, he could talk to a guy, pat him on the back, tell him what he saw, etc. They're young, they have potential, but they're not there yet. It will only take longer for them to gel if Rodgers doesn't step up and give the young guys some confidence. And to do that, he cannot ignore them after they make a mistake; he has to throw them the ball again.

Agreed.  Stick to the game plan, you're not always the smartest guy in the room though you'll never admit it.  Good thing is, it's probably only going to be Lazard, Doubs and Watson open as far as WR's, so he doesn't have too many reads.

He did. He threw him a perfect ball the first play and didn’t throw him under the bus when he didn’t get his head around.

The fact of the matter is if Watson had reliable hands and was a productive pass catcher in college he would have been a top 10 pick.   He was available where he was due to not being a polished receiver and having question marks about his hands.

Time will tell if he will live up to the hype but he’s far from being a sure thing as a receiver.  That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get reps or opportunities.   His ability to get downfield even as a decoy or get involved in the run or return game can being a lot of value to this team.

By the way, not sure Rodgers could make it any easier on that long throw.  That’s a play that I’ll bet 95% of the receivers in the league can and should make.

Hopefully he learns from it and gets better.

How many shitty clichΓ©s can be put into one thread

Yah, no. It’s one clichΓ© at a time and we need to get our best cliches out there because this is a one cliche at a time league. And you can bet that no one feels sorry for our clichΓ©s. I saw the effort with our cliches but it’s about consistency and execution and that cliche starts with me.

I just think Christian Moss needs more time to develop.  Clearly, Tyreke Watson can run like the wind.  As a pure athlete, Bo Watson is a top 5 pick.

Last, it sure seems like we put one over on the Vikings with that trade to get Christian Chase.  I mean, it looks to me they could use a WR the caliber of Corey Bradford, I mean (inset cliche) Watson.

He needs a lot of work, but can’t get it done with his hamstrings constantly pulling.  Just not a good situation for a team in β€œwin now” mode with a 38 year old QB who isn’t getting any younger.

Don't forget the Clifford Franklin Secret Sauce Colin Hawley on Twitter:

He's also a 23-year-old rookie, which was kind of a surprise but Fredokunst loves athleticism over age even, apparently.
