Was not a fan of the Deguara pick at all, mostly because it was viewed by "those in the know" as an extreme overreach.  That said, I'm not ready to write him off just yet.

He was drafted during the start of a pandemic which basically cost him the rookie camp, minicamps, and made training camp not the norm.  Then he blows out his knee in the first series of his career.  Guy has to spend his rookie season rehabbing, again not getting the fruits of a normal offseason.  So in his second season (really his first) he plays just so-so, at best.  OK, but there are plenty of players on every team in the history of sports that take a couple of seasons to "figure it out".  So I'll see how he progresses into next season with a full season under his belt and hopefully a normal offseason.

And he seems to have gotten the label of having the dropsies.  He had two drops this past season.  Hardly a trend. There was another pass catcher recently on the Packers who was drafted pretty high, and it took that guy a couple of seasons to figure things out.  And that guy did have the "dropsies". Until he didn't.

All trueโ€ฆ.but I would have a back up plan.

It used to be when a guy had an ACL injury, it took a full year for their return, and they tended to be limited for a another 4-6 weeks.
With improvements in surgical and rehab techniques, that time was cut down to approximately 9 months and 3-4 weeks of being limited.

Since Tonyan was hurt in the Week 8 game last year, I wouldn't expect him to be ready until Week 8 this season (roughly 10 months after his injury) at the earliest.

It has gotten better, but there's always a chance you'll get a Bakhtiari outcome.

For what Tonyan is getting, he's worth the risk for even half a season.

Premature to give up on Savage, and Amari Rodgers and Deguara as well.

Of those 3, Iโ€™m probably most down on Deguara.  It isnโ€™t hopeless with him, but he just seems like a guy with limited upside that doesnโ€™t have good hands.  Rodgers also has problems with his hands, at least I do think heโ€™s got some athleticism to improve and he was just a rookie last year. Heโ€™s more likely to improve than Deguara.

Degaura was rated as a 6th round talent. He is garbage. He might be a 2nd string fullback at best. Practice squad level.

If I remember right he wasnโ€™t drafted as a pure TE. His role was to be an โ€œHโ€ (or whatever letter) Back. I am unclear what exactly that role is. Mattโ€™s offense is supposed to have a role for that type of player/position. But I donโ€™t see it. However, In all fairness I have a link. https://footballadvantage.com/h-back/

In the bottom of the article it talked about hoping GB FO isn't alienating players.

For every player that is, should ones like Douglas or Campbell (or hell, even Cobb with a restructure) be celebrated for wanting to stay in GB?

I guess you can argue the value of  the players.  Is Campbell more valuable to the team and the D than 17 was to the offense?

Would the D be in worse shape w/out Douglas and Campbell than the offense will be without Adams?

IMO, offense has a chance to be "hurt" less because of 12, I don't think the D would without Campbell/Douglas.  It'd be a steeper climb.
