Don’t pay stupid money for WRs. They don’t win titles.

3 "B" level WRs are better than 1 A level guy and a couple of scrubs.

The problem now is the Packers arguably don't have one B level guy (Lazard is a backup type of guy) at WR. We'll have to see what the receiver room looks like when training camp starts before making any judgements.

They had a WR/TE talent problem even with Adams.

Right now it's Lazard, Cobb, M. Lewis, and Amari Rodgers. None of those guys would start for Alabama, let alone most NFL teams. Most of the quality veteran WRs are now off the market.

I really like the trade, but if it would have happened week earlier, they could have had more time to find a couple of quality replacements.

We need to bring some in. No doubt.

I was wrong once but that was a looong time ago. Like more than 30 minutes ago. You? I didn’t think so. Pathetic!

Let's ask Mrs. Goalline.  I'll bet she'll tell us you're wrong all the time.

New offense coming. WR free🀟

Some years back, the Packers had five TE on the roster.  I distinctly recall suggesting they should try an offensive formation putting all of them out on the field at the same time.

I really like the trade, but if it would have happened week earlier, they could have had more time to find a couple of quality replacements.

Sure, the trade could've been negotiated last week, but not executed until Wed this week at the earliest. They would've still been tight against the cap until this deal was official. The FA negotiating period started Monday this week. So, how do they sign any quality replacement(s) when they had no cap space to do so until "officially" some time today?

In every season there is a surprise and in every championship season there is  a major surprise; in 67 it was Chuck Mercein, in 96 Desmond Howard and in 2010 it was Howard Green so no one knows who will be that surprise player.

Just look at last year and how many JAG comments I saw about De'Vondre Campbell or Rasul Douglas!  Point I am trying to make is every team is different and every player has a different state of being from season to season - the 1997 Reggie White was a diminished version of the 96 model- 11 seasons in the NFL really showed in 97.

For Adams he could turn in another 100+ catch season but is he same player he was in 2022-time will tell.  I am sad to see him go but I thought both 12 and him were gone so there is at least a competitive chance for GB this year!  Now will any GB receiver have 100+ catches this year doubtful but could 3 guys have 60 yes and that is better for the team I think.  Lets hope they sign one of the remaining #2 guys and draft a good one to learn!

I think it’s extremely unlikely that Adams duplicates or even comes close to the numbers he put up in GB the last 3-4 years.

For starters, he doesn’t have Rodgers throwing him the ball.  No offense to Carr, but he ain’t Rodgers.

Another thing to consider is the overall level of competition week to week in the AFC is much more challenging than in GB.  There aren’t any Detroit’s or Chicago’s in their division.

Then there’s Adams and his age.  How many times have we seen a WR sign a big time deal at this point (30 ish) and live up to that contract?   Maybe Larry Fitzgerald?  Sure not the case with Julio Jones or AJ Green.

Look, I wish him well but he wanted to be in Vegas.  You don’t spend 10M+ to buy a home and property there if you don’t want to be there.  Good for Adams and his family.  But I also think this is really good for the Packers.   Assuming they lock up Alexander and Gary this team has a lot of pieces in place to compete now and in the future.   Yes they need to replace Adams but they can do so in the aggregate and they still have 12.

The issue I have with MVS isn’t that I don’t think he can play WR and make an impact. My concern is he’s like Kevin King - dude always seems hurt or dinged.

If you knew he could stay healthy and give you 14+ games and be there in the playoffs he’s worth the 10M per year type contract. But it’s a big gamble.

I like MVS more than others because as a defense (unlike Lazard) you can’t ignore him.  If he gets behind the defense it’s a long TD.  Sure, he can miss some things and drop some passes, but he’s an important element to stretch the field and defense.

Precisely the attitude that this locker room needs. Not from a team captain who would rather be elsewhere and re-living his college days:

Gotta love Amos. A true pro.

Word is MVS willing to come back to GB, looking for a 1 year deal between 7-10M. Reasonable. Sign Will Fuller for $10M a year, draft a guy or two, along with Lazard and Cobb...there's your unit. If Amari out-performs Cobby, sorry 12, your BFF gotta go.

No need to break the bank for a DK Metcalf in search of a 1 to 1 replacement for 17.

Ya mean the Adams trade could have been ANNOUNCED yesterday BEFORE Allen Robinson was signed today?

Who knew?

And ya don't think the Adams trade could have even been agreed to in principal long before yesterday (like the Wentz trades and Stafford trade last year were) so that the Packers could make proactive moves to address what is now the worst receiving corps in the NFL during this "All In" (LOL) season?

Do ya?

You'd think that even the most loyal FRONT OFFICE apologist would not be happy with the dilatory nature of this move ... but apparently that is not the case.

Your problem is you play fantasy football while the Packers front office has to play real football and follow  the NFL rules.   Your rules are the rules you make up.

Nah, my "problem" is that I have not learned how to ignore the FRONT OFFICE decisions and philosophies that have prevented the team from returning to a SB with Aaron Rodgers at QB ... like the good, loyal fans who understand that any move made by their heroes at 1265 Lombardi is a great move and that the lack of SB appearances is nothing more than bad luck.

Now, time to move on to happier topics we can all agree on,  which Packer pass catching stud currently on roster do you think will play the most signifiant roles in our big wins against the Bears and Lions next season?

I have decided to be optimistic about this WR situation.  MVS comes back, and now that he’s the #1 receiver, he plays a full 16 games per season, will catch just T everything in front of him, and finds a passion for learning to run precise routes.  Amari Rodgers just needed a s reason and makes a huge jump in yard two, finally realizing his potential, overcoming his mental mistakes, his bad hands, and slow, plodding speed.  Alan Lazard becomes an even better blocker, so much so that he paves the way for Dillon’s first 2,000 yard season, also making us forget he’s just a so-so receiver.  After all, we have MVS and Amari blowing it up.  Bobby comes back and becomes the first tight end in the NFL to record a 1,000 yard season playing with a cast on his leg.  Mercedes goes to speed camp and surprises everyone by running a 4.5 and showing great hands.  And he wins his appeal overturning a positive test performance enhancing drugs.  We’re going to go into this draft, and get two wide receivers and two tight ends with all of our picks that turn out to be absolute  superstars, negating the need to sign any of our current stud receivers in 2023, playing on cheap rookie contracts that get us out of camp hell and win us a super bowl.  That’s how I’m choosing to look at this.  All you negative nellies can suck it.  And you too Adams. And Carr. We’re going to win the super bowl!
