According to Over the Cap, the Packers are still $7,022,071 over. Need to trim that by 3 p.m. CT today. More move(s) coming.

They also save 2.4 million by moving on from Crosby (4.7 cap hit vs. 2.3 dead cap). That's seems like an obvious move, especially since you can find a replacement at close to a minimum salary and they protected his potential replacement on the practice squad most of last season.
Rob D already reported they are not touching Crosby's contract and he's here in 2022. I am guessing they just don't want to mess with the K position in a 2 year window where they feel they are in a true SB run.
I guess I get that, but at the least I'd like to see some real competition for him in TC. Not holding my breath, but we will see.
They need a fucking longsnapper and a reliable holder. Hopefully Bistecca can help them find both.
I could see Crosby doing a re-do and taking less this season to help out the cap and kicking money down the road. Even at his numbers it would be that much $$$$ but would help on this year.

Crosby's biggest value is his experience in kicking at Lambeau Field. At this point, that's about it. He's subpar on kickoffs and obviously struggled last year. A lot of guys can kick in domes and in good weather. So, they are really paying him top dollar to make kicks in a January playoff game in Green Bay?
If they do hold onto him, it really points out that they know the special teams coaching was a cluster last year. Why would you risk going into a season with a kicker being paid top dollar that might have become a head case otherwise? It would have been nice to actually do something about it before it cost you a season.
Ok, is it too early to ask if the Packers are now under the salary cap?
Looks like they are still about $8 million over. Lots of announcements coming in the next 1 1/2 hours.
Moving on from Corey B?
The Packers currently have 4 specialists signed with 51 players under contract. None of them are punters. Not a bad thing, just odd at the moment.

no mo co bojo?
There have been rumblings the Rams are going to cut Johnny Hekker...
Weβre just not punting anymore.
Corey Bojorquez, an unrestricted free agent, will not be brought back. The Packers simply donβt have the cap space for a veteran punter. Acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams after training camp, he played under the fourth-year minimum salary of $920,000. Heading into Year 5, Bojorquez will cost $1.035 million. A rookie, by comparison, will cost $705,000.

They could easily find 300K if they wanted to. Bojorquez had the best gross average by a punter in Packer history by almost 2 full yards. He lead the NFL in punting for the Bills in 2020.
He's a terrible holder and teams want their punters to be able to hold. It's why he's no longer a Bill or a Ram.

I concur. The holding is his achilles heel.

We cant kick money down the road with respect to Crosby. It will likely get blocked
Not now, Bojo won't be holding it up.

Donβt get it.

Tonyan's market is going to be limited seeing has he's still rehabbing the ACL surgery.
Rasul I could see signing a fairly big deal the Packers couldn't match. If he was going to stay, I think they would have signed him by now.

No announcements over 2 hours after the deadline to be under the Cap. I wonder whats up with that? Were they already under the Cap? Slow news on announcing how they did it if they were over? Or something else?
The #Packers did tender: ILB Krys Barnes, TE Dominique Dafney, C Jake Hanson, T Yosh Nijman, OLB Randy Ramsey and WR Malik Taylor as exclusive rights free agents.

Imagine losing your $750,000++ job because you can't catch a center snap and get the laces facing the right way.
Theyβre supposedly in continued talks trying to work out a deal with Douglas.
Probably hard to negotiate with no money available
@michiganjoe posted:Eleven games in two years for Bryan Bulaga? Just another reminder that the FO is right much more than they're wrong on when to move on.
Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make. Third contracts can be risky.
Apparently, Devondre Campbell is waiting for the cap to sort out before he signs his deal.
@YATittle posted:I concur. The holding is his achilles heel.
I donβt get it. Why not get a backup QB too do the holding? That way if the snap is botched, he could toss a pass (or pass on a fake kick). I mean, after struggling with various failed punters, why are we discarding someone who can switch the field so well?
The #Packers are signing former #Bears punter Pat OβDonnell, per source.
β Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) March 17, 2022
New Packers punter Pat O'Donnell ranked 23rd in @PFF punting grade, 31st (out of 35) in net punting average and 32nd in average hangtime last season.
β Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) March 17, 2022
So this looks like a clear downgrade from Bojo.

His leg was probably worn out after the 3rd week!
When it comes to special teams this team just does not get it
CB Rasul Douglas has received multiple offers over the last few days, but ongoing conversations continue on a potential extension with the Green Bay Packers. Iβm told both sides want to get it done, per sources.

Packers signing former Bears punter Pat O'Donnell.
Suspect O'Donnell may just be an insurance stopgap and Gutey will continue searching,
Edit:
The Packers gave new punter Pat OβDonnell a two-year, $4 million contract. It includes a $950,000 roster bonus and a total guarantee of $1.6 million.
β Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) March 17, 2022
Guess not.
Wait, why?
This dude is a downgrade from Bojo. And Bojo would have been the cheaper option..
