Well, crap. I don't blame him for telling the 49ers to F off either.

Broadcaster Solomon Wilcots of Sirius XM NFL Radio reported Embree was asked to take a 60-percent pay cut with the 49ers, which led to the end of the union on Tuesday.

NBC Sports Bay Area could not independently confirm the financial negotiations, but it is believed Embree was working on a one-year contract last season with the 49ers.

They might as well add on the entire receiving corp because it isn't even close or a legit statement in the first place.  Douglas and Campbell are the only individuals of note in this equation.  I cannot fathom they wouldn't be able to work contracts with Douglas and Campbell particularly when Douglas flat out said it wouldn't take much for him to sign with Green Bay.

I'll take Adams over the entire WR corp.  The second best receiver on the team is Aaron Jones.

If Rodgers stays he will insist on Davante. If Rodgers leaves, easy choice. Douglas and Campbell.

Honestly, if Rodgers stays, load up at the WR position and go lean elsewhere. Not that I think it is the key to the Super Bowl. It is not. We are never winning a Super Bowl with Rodgers unless he takes a smaller contract(he won't). It will just be a fun experiment.

Disagree.  Get ONE receiver and load up on defense.  Defense is going to be key after Rodgers is gone as well.

The Packers could have won a Super Bowl this season with Rodgers if it weren't for special teams and his salary was not the reason they had the worst special teams in the league.

And the Rams just won a SB with a loaded roster of all star players and almost $45 million (24% of their total cap) tied up in the QB position for 2021.

Holy shit on that Adams rumor but I guess that's what ALL IN looks like. There's going to be a tank season somewhere in the next 5 years where they dump salaries unless the cap makes very large increases during that time.

Working the bottom of the roster and expecting the best combo of players to be on the field for ST has very little impact on the cap.  They aren't having to walk some tight rope to balance the contract of scrubs against every player with larger contracts.  That's just horseshit.

Yet, the intellectually dishonest argument of Rodgers cap and Rodgers alone for the loss continues to chug along even though it was that unit directly responsible for 10 of 13 points scored by the 9ers.

Never mind the dearth of skill players be it through negligence or injury, one pass is proof positive of Rodgers' sole responsibility against a formidable, legit playoff defense.

Never mind Dennis Kelly was getting destroyed while Billy Turner wasn't faring much better in a decision to switch Turner from the right side instead of starting Nijman.  Never mind there was little to no motion and the offense looked more like McVince's in part to injury.  For whatever reason, chipping on the oline just seemed to stop even though Kelly was getting destroyed on a regular basis.

All other factors outside of Rodgers poor play doesn't exist.

Was Goff on the Rams cap this year?   If not, it doesn’t matter.

Assembling a roster has to be done under the cap.  It’s harder to do that when fewer people eat up more cap space.

Back to Rodgers and Adams, if they intend to pay both of them 80M combined good luck filling out a decent roster around them.  Sure, they can play cap games and push some of the money into the future but that can get sketchy as well.

Have to assume the FO has an idea of what kind of cap increases are to come in the future.  As fans we only look at the current cap but that's not how teams look at contracts.  I'm sure they look at things like NFL games being played in Germany or a possible Super Bowl in London (which is being discussed) as a way to really expand the cap and factor some of that into their numbers.

What seems insane now will seem like a steal in 5 years.

If we're going all in next year...

Just checking the UFA WR's/TE's and DT's from Spotrac.  WR Mike Williams might be a nice addition.  Very productive and doesn't look like he'd break the bank.  He'd give us a legit #2 option. DT's, Larry Ogunjobi, maybe Quinton Jefferson, Austin Johnson could be reasonaby-priced additions.  TE Dalton Schultz could also be a nice addition at a bargain.  No guarantee that Bobby comes back in shape to play at 100% during any point of the season.

Then draft WR/TE/Edge/ILB/DT depending on BPA at our positions of need.

I wonder how that will impact contracts.  What happened this year?  Was an extra game check given or was their 16 game check money just divided into 17?  What about those who had a new contract this year with 17 games vs those under contract under the 16 game schedule?

Contracts are per year not per game so they just split it over 18 weeks instead of 17. They get paid on the bye week too.

But adding and 17th and 18th game has to mean the cap goes up. More games, more revenue, bigger TV contracts, etc. The players will see more money eventually but the teams will see it first.

The Packers could have won the Super Bowl this year if he was capable of leading an offense to more than 10 points against the Niners. That offense was the biggest reason for the loss. That was supposed to be the strength of the team. We all knew special teams sucked. That offense underachieved.Choked!

If the Packers could take a different approach to cap dollar management, what would the possibility be of trading Bakhtiari?
Spotrac shows a dead cap hit of $39M for 2022, but would that stay the same if he were traded?
Besides all the variables that would come into play for this to even be possible, I can't see the Packers eating the equivalent (roughly) of 1 year of ARod's salary.

This.  We all agree the special teams sucked all year and in this game in particular.  Bottom line, though, is that our offense managed just 10 points - just 3 after the opening drive, when 14 would have won the game.  That last throw to Adams in double coverage while Lazard was wide open over the middle epitomized the poor play of the offense and the QB.  Coaches also share a good portion of blame for fucking up what had been a decent offensive line.
