Newsome has NOT thrived in Cleveland the way many thought a 1st Rounder would thrive. I think his cap cost for the remainder of the season would be around $6 million.

Thanks for the update.  I know he was a RD1 prospect but wasn't aware of how he's been playing.

They were clearly better when he took over. Going back to Richardson was dumb. That guy ain't ready. Let him watch a pro and learn.

Richardson was 20 years old when he was drafted and played in 13 games at Florida. Raw is an understatement. He should never have seen the field his rookie year and likely this year. They should brought in Flacco last year to start this year and next with the plan to turn it over to Richardson in 2025. The fact he started on Day 1 his rookie season pretty much wrote his story in stone. This was bound to happen.

NFL QB drafting is starting to remind me of the late 90's and early 2000's in the NBA draft when teams were picking ultra athletic high school players who had no business playing in the NBA yet for 2-3 years. Richardson probably profiled as a 2nd/3rd round pick based on his ability to play in the NFL in 2023 but due to his athleticism, goes #4. Being drafted later would have allowed him to develop but because he was taken #4, no doubt there was pressure to play him.  NFL has a QB problem but it's not the players - it's the GMs and coaches have refused to adjust to the fact that college QBs are just not ready for the NFL.

Jayden and Newsome played together in college I believe. He know something?

Spot on.  I get it that these GMs are under the gun because they are picking QBs high in the draft because their team sucks.  So the organization needs them to play and make an impact soon because you have impatient owners and fans who want results instantly.  But, as most of us know 90% or more of rookie QBs just aren't NFL ready right away.  One thing we as Packers fans have been crazy lucky with is that they have been able to groom QBs in a winning culture so they can just hand things off to the next guy.

The game is so much faster, most everyone they are up against is way better than who they faced in college , and in today's CFB QBs really don't have to read defenses other than some RPO reads.  In the NFL the DCs usually are pretty damn good at what they do, and they know how do disguise things to confuse a veteran QB much less a 20-year-old rookie.

How many young guys have been ruined by the impatience of owners GM’s and coaches?  They may not have turned out to be superstars but at least some could have made solid contributions to teams.

Most high pic’s obviously have some skills or they would not have succeeded in college and turned scouts into drooling over them.

and the clock is ticking down in chicago, the qb house of horrors.  can williams survive and find a way to flourish or will the dustbin collect another?

queens actually got lucky with mccarthy's injury.  now if they'll be patient enough to give him one more year to observe and learn....   there just might be a chance

(qualifier:  I've never seen him play a down)

MIN may have bumbled themselves into a pretty good situation at QB.  The stop gap dude ended up being much better than they anticipated and he'll buy the rookie pick time to develop.  That's ideal if JJM is any good.

My guess is without a second half turnaround in CHI, which is not out of the question, Poles will probably cancel the HC.  After that, once he fixes the OL there is plenty of talent on that team to win.

They really did. But it's also a referendum on not being held hostage by a QB like Cousins. About time someone in the Vikings org realized Cousins was fake franchise QB and figured they could get similar play from a guy like Darnold.

Cowboys probably wish they had treated Dak the same way rather than panic and give him $60m per year. That's a mistake the Cowboys may be digging themselves out of for years.

Speaking of Cousins, if Penix ends up being a franchise guy maybe the Falcons have unlocked a modified way to follow "The Packer Way" to developing QB's.

They didn't have the aging future HOF guy already like we did with Favre so they went and got Cousins and drafted Penix. You know it's Cousin's job for at least two years then you move to Penix when you see what you need to see in practice. Could be three years.

Then another 10 or so years down the line you bring in the next guy to sit and learn.

It requires a longer game be played by ownership/GM.  ATL has to maintain enough success to keep the infrastructure in place to develop Penix into a starter.  That is if their infrastructure is capable of developing him in the first place.  I think few teams have all those pieces and GB has been one of those lucky places for 30 years.

Tend to agree with you except for the money they gave Cousins.  His dead cap hit in 2026 is $25 million and $12.5 million in 2027.  That is a lot just to have Penix sit and watch for 2 years.

If you follow the Packers plan there's always gonna be a dead cap maneuver at the time of transition. I don't know if a team has moved from a HOF level guy to the next guy without having something to deal with for at least a year or two. All part of the process.

Taybor Pepper does a quick 5 minute spot on the radio. 107.7 The Bone. He was very complimentary of Anders and Anders thanked him and the holder for being very welcoming.

Taybor thinks that short time in the Niners special teams will really help him. Taybor said he isn't going to stay unemployed very long.

Can't believe the Pack let Taybor go 🖕🏼

Instead of a coin flip, how about this?
