From PFT

To supplement (or supersede) the instant analysis of the new Aaron Rodgers contract based on the numbers reported by former teammate James Jones, PFT has obtained more details about the deal.

And here they are.

1. The signing bonus is $57.5 million. (The prior record was $50 million, set by Matthew Stafford.)

2. Through the end of the 2018 season, Rodgers will earn $66.9 million.

3. Through March 2019, he’ll earn $80.8 million.

4. Through the 2019 season, he’ll earn $81.9 million.

5. Through the 2020 season, he’ll earn $103 million.

6. Through the 2021 season, he’ll earn $125 million.

7. Through the 2022 season, he’ll earn $150.5 million.

8. Through the 2023 season, he’ll earn $176 million.

The base value of the deal is $176 million over six years, an average of $29.33 million at signing. The new-money average is $33.5 million. Both are all-time records.

The contract also includes $4 million in incentives/escalators, which could push the total value to $180 million. That would make it an even $30 million per year on the full six years.

Almost literally emptying the safe for their star player. May need to have another stock sale to replenish the losses!

That's a lot of tube rides down the sledding hill.

I wonder which 'last few seasons' Farrar is talking about? Rodgers stats...

2014, 112 rtg, 38 TD, 5 Int

2015, no Jordy, 92, 31, 8

2016, 104, 40, 7

2017, 6+games, 97, 16, 6

Farrar has no idea what offensive play is called or what the defense is doing to counter, or if Rodgers checked out for whatever reason. I'll trust the Coach and QB to figure out how to maximize the talent on the field.

The quick math says GB has around $25.5 million in cap space after Rodgers puts pen to paper and Hundley get’s the **** out of town.

Just saying.....

Even if that's accurate, there's no way they can tie up the $20 million KM is seeking after backing up the Brinks truck for Rodgers.  Reviewing his stats over 4 years, I am not sure a guy averaging 10 sacks a season is worth $20 million.

Any NFL observer can see how the Packers under MM have struggled to get receivers open via scheme or play design. AR almost never drops back, plants his foot and throws on rhythm. Almost every pass play devolves into a scramble drill. It puts AR at risk for unnecessary hits and makes it near impossible for non Godlike QBs to succeed.

It is very easy to notice the difference when watching other teams' immobile type QBs make on time throws to open receivers.

Packers can clear a lot of scratch off the books in 19 if they move on from Clay and Cobb. If the kids at WR show progress it makes the Cobb decision an easy one.

The argument of whether Mack is worth $20 million is kind of irrelevant. It’s never what youre worth. It’s what someone is willing to pay you. Someone is willing to pay him $20 million. Possibly more.

I think Farrar is referring to is the unimaginative playbook that operated on a lot of stick routes and then Rodgers making something happen on his own.

You trusted the coach when it was Dom Capers too.    In fact, it's the same response you would give to criticism of Hawk as well.  It is such a lazy take.

Coach says the QB room is fine too.

”Its been an amazing ride the last 13 years; excited to start year 14 knowing that my future is here, in Green Bay, for our 100th season. I’ve grown up in this place, and grown older and a little wiser along the way. Thank you to our incredible fan base for inspiring us players to be better year after year. Thank you to the Packers organization for standing by me time and time again and giving me the opportunity to lead this football team. And thank you to my teammates along the way, past and present who have impacted my life in so many positive ways, giving me friendships for life. Looking forward to making some more memorable moments this year, and for years to come....”

Aaron Rodgers on Instagram.

He said he wanted to play until he’s 40. Going to retire at 40 as a Packer.

To be fair, he’s a averaged 12 per year over the last 3. Hard to hold a slow rookie season against a player when they rebound so spectacularly.

True, but he's only had around 10 each of the past two years.
