assumption that Aaron and a new DC solves everything
No, so it's a good thing there were a lot of other changes since week 17.

Nick Foles enlightened the entire NFL that a brand new world is possible without an elite QB provided you have team, scheme, and a coach with balls he carries around in the bed of an F-150.
Just repeat that with Rodgers. Give Rodgers team, scheme, and a coach with nuts.
Cant be beat.
But everyone has to be all in.
So Josh McD is staying in New England.
Hmmmmm.....
Billy B retiring?? Maybe Gronk too.
If this all goes down, I can't wait to watch the Patriots in 2018. They might go 4-12.
DH13 posted:I've said as much every time some one trots out the "lost season cuz AR on IR" trope around here. Way more missing this year than QB.
True, but Hundley stunk.
Really should know what you have after three years, especially if you're a QB guru. Lots of flaws on the Packers this year but the failure at backup QB was the biggest and it wasn't even close.
Hundley had virtually no real game experience until AR went down this year. End game mop up is just that. Both Foles and Keenum both had significant playing time in regular season games before this year. Experience helps a lot. But so does coaching. At least Nick Foles said it did. Pederson adapted to him - but the Rams didn't. Keenum actually went 6-2 in his last 8 starts with the Rams - no coaching and all. GB in the past have treated WRs the same way. AR gets no experience in preseason with any of the backups. And they have used Hundley very sparingly during the preseason as well - but when he does play, he doesn't see the starters. So AR goes down and suddenly Hundley is on the field with guys he has rarely thrown to. And when WRs go down suddenly AR is on the field with guys he has rarely thrown to. I will throw in that I believe throwing to guys in practice is not the same as throwing to him in a game setting where some of the communication is none verbal. So we expect miracles? May as well buy a lottery ticket.
Thanks Ghost for proving a point many of us have stated for years on here. When your QB is as much of a part of a team's success as AR is, you owe it to the team to have someone with some credibility as a regular season QB behind him. The Pack rolled these dice for many years and didn't even learn a lessen the year they had to go through Wallace and Tolzein before bringing Flynn back.
Note Flynn only had a 'smidge' of regular season play but at least it was successful and also had the experience of getting a starters contract and competing for a job in which he lost to a future Pro Bowler.
I don't think Hundley really showed any improvement over the course of 11+ games to make anyone think he'll be a serviceable backup.
Hundley - Nice dude - but his tape is his resume'
Hundley is less athletic version of Vince Young. He'll make plays with his legs and looks good in warmups throwing the ball. When he actually has to read a defense, he's toast.
2 weeks into watching him play he reminded me of Duante Culpepper
Oh-oh. The 2 resident trolls are going to take umbrage with that statement. Well, they will after looking up "umbrage".

Good point. If you'd have given Hundley Randy Moss in his prime he'd have looked like a superstar too.
Moss' first 7 years as a Viking were 484 catches, 9142 yard, and 90 TDs.
Culpepper from 2000-2004 threw for 129 TDs. Moss caught 62 of them.
Randy Moss was a pinhead, but having Moss for that time period without winning a Super Bowl has to be disappointing. The first year he plays with a team with a HOF QB, the team is one lucky helmet catch away from being 19-0.

I'm not sure Belichik walks away just yet. I've read where this is more of Kraft really wanting to stick it to Indy for blowing them in for the Deflategate fiasco. Kraft supposedly paid more money to McDaniels to stay in NE. Indy has sat back and wasted the last three weeks thinking their next coach was all lined up. Now they have to start from scratch with a thinner pool of candidates.
Call me boring but I think it was simply a bump in pay and JMcD changing his mind. His first go-around as a head coach didn't go the greatest so maybe he had some flashbacks. However, all he needed to do was substitute Luck for Tebow and maybe this would have never happened.
FinnLander posted:Oh-oh. The 2 resident trolls are going to take umbrage with that statement. Well, they will after looking up "umbrage".
Make that 3 trolls. One actually looked up umbrage.
Josh McDaniels hired assistant coaches in Indy that signed contracts expecting to work for him then Josh backed out of the job.
Lets be clear. Josh McDaniels is never coaching anywhere other than NE again.
Josh McDaniels agent told him to go **** himself with a spiked plunger today. Then dropped him.
Indy. Sometimes the best things that happen are the things that donât happen.

Nice job saying Gordy Nelson, DelMonte Adams and Cobb suck.
I read somewhere Sunday before the Superb Owl that there were rumors Belichick was going to retire and McDaniels would be staying in New England to take over. Don't recall who noted it... McDaniels is douchey for what he did to those assistant coaches.

Foles had a really good year under Chip Kelly also. I think the real message is don't go in to a contending season with a bag of **** as your backup QB.

I dunno. Our QB guru coulda had Foles as the backup and thereâs still no way they would have won the SB with a Compers defense.

Sure they coulda. Foles was competent, coulda won a couple/three more games, AR comes back, game on.

Yes, game on and the Packers make the playoffs again. Then, yet again, the Packers lose in the playoffs because of an incompetent defense.
We were better off with Gum Smacker instead of Foles because at least Gum Smackerâs incompetance forced the organization to make some changes.
Iâll be the first one to thank Gum Smacker for his incompetence next year when AR (plus a new D) brings the Lombardi home.
I also hope Gum Smacker plays in the CFL next season....Apologies to our Great White North comrades.

Foles is next!

Good for the bandwagon franchise! They truly do not disappoint.
They hired a lifelong QB coach who has tried to be an OC in the NFL once before and lead the illustrious Browns offense to a near best 3-13 record.
I look forward to his play-calling.

Pssssttt.....
Who was the head coach of that 3-13 team? Iâll give you a hint......his name rhymes with Mike Pettine. I wonder if he was responsible for their defense being ranked 27th that year?
lol
Never thought other posters here would piss me off more than catts.
Can you imagine the three of them in a room together. G-rated stuff of course. I think catts would wear them down.
Why does it piss you off that I identify who John DeFellipoâs HC was when he was in Cleveland?
Nobody should be pissed off by facts.

On a side note, please tell her to stop calling me. It's starting to get awkward.

They hired possibly the most successful Browns coach of the last decade
