Looking at Chryst's track record so far as a head coach and it's not very impressive.

This last season was his third year as Pitt's head coach and they haven't gotten any better over those three seasons.  This year includes home losses to Akron (3-5 in the MAC!) and Iowa (7-5 overall).  They lost a road game at Virginia and Virginia had a 3-5 record in the ACC.  Their six wins came against Delaware, Boston College (4-4 in ACC), Florida International (4-8 overall), Virginia Tech (3-5 in ACC), Syracuse (1-7 in ACC), Miami Fl (3-5 in ACC).  They missed Florida State, Clemson and Louisville on their conference schedule and they could only manage a .500 record?  Not impressive at all.

Wisconsin may be more attractive to recruits, but Chryst is in a talent rich state and is close to other hotbeds like Ohio and the DMV. He's consistently pulled in recruiting classes ranked in the 30's and 40's. He may have inherited a mess and a bare cupboard, but he hasn't restocked it.

Why does it seem like Pat Narduzzi never gets interviews? Is he just content to be a DC forever and turns down jobs or is he just waiting for Dantonio to retire or is there something schools keep finding wrong with him? I know he's the highest paid coordinator, but he's only making 1+ mil when he could be getting between 3 and 4 mil as a HC.

Pitt should have been able to take advantage of Ohio St's postseason ban and all the turmoil at Penn St. Not saying he should have been pulling down top 5 classes, but they should done better than the 30's.

Certainly the running game was elite and I think they utilized the WRs and TEs better than they have since Chryst left, but I wouldn't call the offense "a force to be reckoned with". The offense was elite overall with Russell Wilson and if Chryst can find another QB of that caliber then the O could be really strong, but that's true with almost any team.

If you want to talk about Chryst's successes at QB, look at Texans QB Tom Savage. He's a physically gifted QB who Chryst had playing some good ball his last year at Pitt. He's a guy that I thought could be the best QB to come out of the 2014 QB class if he was put in the right situation. His numbers were poor against Indy, but he had some really nice plays also that should give Texans fans hope. Chryst took a guy who hadn't played football in 2 years and got him playing pretty well.

The latest in the Madison, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Corvallis newspapers.

Pitt running back recruit Darrin Hall told a reporter that one of the assistant coaches at Pitt told him that Chyrst is in negotiations with Pitt to remain the head coach there.  Chyrst wants some things changed, and Chryst might stay if those changes are made.  Other recruits are saying that the assistants really don't know what Chryst is going to do, he hasn't shared his intentions with the rest of the coaching staff.  The majority of writers still think that Chyrst will be Wisconsin's head coach by the end of the week.

It's unknown if Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Tight End Coach Joe Rudolph would come to Madison with Chryst.  Rudolph if from out east so he might stay there.  There is also some talk that if the Panthers lose Chyrst then they may elevate Rudolph to head coach, although that seems like a long shot.

The situation with defensive coordinator Dave Aranda seems to be completely up in the air.  No real thoughts as to where he will end up, but Andersen apparently wants him in Corvallis.  One thing is for sure, Barry Alvarez likes Aranda and would like to see him stay in Wisconsin.

Chances are pretty good that offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig will be looking for work.  Andersen is looking around for a new offensive coordinator, it's not expected that he will hire Ludwig or retain current Oregon State offensive coordinator John Garrett.  The Corvallis paper thinks that the leading candidate might be Eastern Washington head coach Beau Baldwin.  There is the possibility that Chyrst would retain Ludwig, but most think Ludwig is out.

Andersen did decide to retain Oregon State's wide receiver coach, Brent Brennan, so it's possible Chris Beatty remains with the Badgers.  Beatty seems more valuable from a recruiting standpoint, as during the last couple of years he's gotten six players out of Florida.

Badgers also have had their first post-Andersen decommit, Florida WR-Marvin Robinson (2 star prospect - Rivals).  It must be noted that Robinson had just given a verbal to Wisconsin earlier this month and that was pending a test score.  So the coaching situation may not have had anything to do with this, he may be an academic casualty.

From Mil JS,

potential assistants for the new staff are coming into focus.

According to two sources with knowledge of the UW and Pittsburgh programs:

Dave Aranda, in his second season as UW's defensive coordinator, is interested in remaining at UW.

Aranda on Friday received a strong endorsement from athletic director Barry Alvarez, who has been impressed with the ability of the defensive staff to replace the entire front seven from last season. Alvarez said several assistants have expressed interest in remaining at UW, though he declined to identify those coaches.

Make it so Barry!

Chryst had a bowl game press conference yesterday and admitted he talked to Alvarez.  He certainly gave the impression that he wants to be back in Wisconsin.

Latest speculation is that if Chryst comes back to Wisconsin that he will bring offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph and defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Matt House with him.  Rudolph would be the offensive coordinator, but House would NOT be the defensive coordinator.  Does that mean Aranda is leaning Wisconsin?

It's expected that Wisconsin coaches Chad Kauha'aha'a (Defensive Line) and T.J. Woods (Offensive Line) will follow Andersen to Oregon State.  Kauha'aha'a could be a huge loss because it's pretty likely that he may take both Badger 2015 DT recruits with him, which would open a huge hole in this recruiting class.
