Bummer. I guess we have a new addition to the list of Norris coaches I miss dearly:
And if you want to go back a little further...

What's Les Steckel doing these days?
His last game was a blowout loss at home against GB. Same with Jerry Burns.
Interesting. Steckel, Burns, and now Childress all exited in the same manner.

Or Lovie Smith

And Denny Green's last game as Vikings coach was the infamous Spergeon Wynn game in GB. So that makes four Vikings coaches whose last straw was a loss to the Packers.
WOW. Pressure on Frazier to win now, does he go with Favre at Wash or did Zygi tell him to go w/ TJax?
I suspect Favre gets one more game.
I suspect Favre gets one more game.
Baldinger just reported (he's a good friend of Fraziers) that Favre will be benched and or released and Webb will be named starter.
wow! if they release favre, does tennessee pick him up?
moss and favre - reunited "and it feels so good!"

If Brent actually gets cut, I guess he should head to Detoilet to stick it to Zygi on January 2.
Baldinger also reported that the Vikings were in control of the game with the lead and stuffing the Packers at the time of the Tramon Int.
At first I had assumed that Favre would get benched by the new coach or put on IR, but after thinking about it I wonder if arrogance will win the day. As in, "Favre will play better for me because his main problem was Childress". And who wouldn't be tempted to think that Favre will start to show his magic again? Who would want to start their term as an interim head coach with TJack at QB??
Tjack added about 50+ yards of something per game. Saw it on a blog.
Sad day to be a Packer fan.
We'll miss you Chilly.
We'll miss you Chilly.

Really? You're struggling with what "relieved of coaching duties" means?
Oh, nevermind you're a Vikings fan...
Ahhh a refreshing "shot in the rib cage"! Putz!
Relieved of coaching duties....doesn't say he won't be picking up or keeping other duties within the organization. Would have much rather seen the presser say F-I-R-E-D! (Hope that spells it out for ya...door knob!
I understand that the locker room attendants may need some help picking up towels and jockstraps and such. One door closes, and another door opens.
Good quote from Seifert at ESPN:
quote:Those of you calling for Tarvaris Jackson should know that the only coach in football who believes in him got fired today
I will so miss Coach Kick Ass....

Could you be more stupid? Denny Green coming back, along with Culpepper and Moss. 50 years of Division III football.
I hoped Chilly would be in vikingland for 10 years, hated to see Tice leave too, 2 "guys in over their heads" Maybe next year they'll give Matt Millen a shot. Trifecta !!!!
Any coach called up to replace Chilly midseason that doesn't bench Favre is a fool.
I will not miss hearing Chilly's knuckledraggin gravel voice. Man, that actually hurt.

Don't worry, he's safe until January 3rd.
Favre just might get to go to Tennessee. Sounds good. Great RB. Decent O-Line. Ok WR's including Moss. Fisher on the warm (not yet hot) seat. Perfect slot for our hero Brett. What a warrior!

I was thinking Favre would get dumped and then Miami would snag him. that's about the only team where he'd be an upgrade.
He'd be an upgrade in Tennessee or Arizona too.

Fixed that. Blasphemer
True but I don't think Fischer or Wisenhunt are looking to retire just yet.
Major Dad
Most teams are looking for a real QB, not a real-old QB. The experiments with Brint are over. He's had some great games the last 2+ years, but what are the results? How many more times is Favre going to not finish before everyone gets it, he's done?
quote:How many more times is Favre going
IMO, we shouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's going for a few more years.
Yup. As long as there's at least one desperate enabler out there somewhere and someone willing to cut a check, he'll keep playing.
Common Man on KFAN said "his source" tells him Zygi has had conversations with Bill Parcels about coming to MN next year. I think if, IF true it would only be as Head of Football Ops or maybe GM.
Can't they just deep freeze Favre like Han Solo in "Empire Strikes Back"? He would throw fewer interceptions and Deanna would always know what he's up to. They just need to make sure he's zipped up before they do it.

Second time I've heard this today. Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit odd?
Why leave an up and coming franchise in Miami to rebuild a train wreck in Minnesota?
I'd be fine with Parcells in Minny. The guy deserves some of the credit he gets for turning teams around, but he hasn't produced a champion in 20 years. Even then, I don't believe he was making the personnel decisions.

Parcells stepped down from his post in September, staying on as a "day-to-day consultant." He officially has no role with the team, and the odd timing was seen by some as Parcells trying to distance his name from the team.
