Ditka just called out the Queens players as "This is not a good football team. They are selfish! Everyone of them. Playing for each other? Come on! Your playing for yourself!"

LMAO. Love Ditka and
Steve Young just had a rant about Childress/Favre. He said it was basically over when Chilly went to go pick up Favre at the airport. Later on said how Favre's running the team and there's no chance they sit him. All stuff we all know but was nice to see someone say it on air.

IIRC Teddy B and mark Schlert (sp?) were very vocal about their disapproval of Ziggy-Chilley- Bert-and the 3 wisemen---from the get go.

The one from player who has just been all over bert's schlong is Dilfer. Been really sick.

Half the idiots on TV only state the obvious and offer no real insight. Props to guys like Schlereth and Bruschi who went out on a limb and voiced their opinion. Screw the other ball washers that prefer to agree with whatever a player does just b/c they don't want to offend anyone and ruin a future career opportunity. It's even more pathetic when these ball washers are just now changing their opinion after a 3-7 start, fired head coach and 20+ turnovers.

Not so quick. Favre is either 31st or worse in QB rating. If he went to a team like Arizona, I think he would make Derek A look like an All Pro.

With pressure he is now a Turnover machine.

Right. IIRC, the Vikings were the only team willing to take a chance on him then, I don't think anyone will touch him with a 10 ft. pole now. It's probably moot, however, I think Favre knows it's over. No way he wants to start all over again with some bottom feeding team desperate for a savior, even if a team was willing to take a chance on him.

I suspect Favre gets one more game.

Not if Frazier's smart he doesn't. Favre is one of the main reasons the team is why it's in the shape it's in, other than Chilly letting it happen. Favre's heart's not in it. They had to beg the drama queen to get him back - the competitive fire is long gone, he was just looking for Eazy Ave. on the way to the Superbowl. The second it became work, he caved and started to drag the rest of the organization down with him. My first move would be to bench Favre. That would send a clear message to the rest of the team who the new boss is. Besides that, TJ is a much better option at this point than Favre, and you have to get the kid ready for next year, because there are no other options waiting in the wings to take over. Better get him some reps while they count, and who knows, it may just light a fire under the rest of the team. I think letting Favre continue to start would be a huge mistake. It's not like their fickle fans are behind him anymore anyway, nothing to lose, everything to gain.

I am reminded of an excellent article I read on Buddy Ryan when coaching the Eagles, realizing he never even got to the big game. He said the first thing he did was scan his roster and ask if he could win the SB with each player.

That being said, will the Vikings win the SB with Favre? No.

Therefore, I would cut him.

Buddy should have been looking in the mirror and asking that question.

Sure. Probably the last time for this.

Thanks, JJSD. This one always made me chuckle. I'm gonna miss it!
I'm betting that Frazier has NO say-so in player decisions, and was told by Zigi to just maintain status quo through the end of the season. Frazier does have the responsibility of getting the team ready to play each week, but there's not going to be wholesale changes.

The players...it's hard to tell what they will do. The cliches "players playing for their jobs", "playing for pride", and "auditioning for a new job elsewhere" will be heavily used, but who knows where there heads are?
Ditto for the coaches, too. And do the players consider them 'lame duck'?
They should keep Favre on the field--there's no sense in getting AP beat up from having too many attempts! Razzer They just have to hope he doesn't get any of their remaining receivers killed by leading them into big hits.

Interesting that the Parcell rumor cropped up as quick as it did; there was a short piece about him on one of the pre-game shows, and they mentioned his birthday was that weekend (?) and he was going to be 70 years old! I suppose it's possible he may want the challenges of a new gig, but it's hard to imagine him dedicating the time and resources at his age.
FWIW, I don't think Zigi has the cash to hire Parcells in some type of consultant role, and a big-name HC. Not to mention having to buy out the remainder of CKA's contract, no stadium deal, the issues related to a CBA or lockout, and maybe moving expenses? Big Grin
Regarding Parcells, Peter King reported in MMQB that Parcells can't even watch a game anymore because he gets too worked up. I doubt he's coming back as a coach.

As for the Vikings, I expect they'll play much better going forward. If anything to save face. If they play well, they can then hang the blame for their crappy season more squarely on Childress.
The kick-ass taco one is definitely my favorite.

Parcells is 70. Any Viking fan that thinks the "savior" is coming is sadly mistaken. Parcells is retired much like Ron Wolf.

Before, I cared about Minnesota moving to L.A. or anywhere. Now? Not so much. Not sure why but I guess you could say I had some closure this year.

They're irrelevant.
It'll be Frazier next year. I'm pretty sure Wilf has had enough of throwing good money after bad with that team.

If he does make a star hire, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Brian Billick -- Super Bowl resume, former Vikings assistant, still has vacation property in Minnesota, etc.
In a surprising move, owner Zygi Wilf says, we have made three moves to guarantee us a Super Bowl next year. Wilf was overheard saying, "We needed to cut costs and bring back the glory years. The new stadium wasn't what I had envisioned, but it is more passer friendly for our new QB. He is getting up there in years, but has a few years left in his tank."

Our New QB

and new Head Coach

New Stadium
I am really suprised Rick Spielman isn't on the hot seat. He's pissed away as much money as SynderDavis. He's also tossed away draft picks foolishly. Too bad we didn't fleece his butt for Favre.
One of the most overrated personnell guys in the league. He left Miami with a 1-15 season.

Look at that Viking roster.

No QB
Awful OL - old to boot
Terrible secondary
Average linebackers
Overrated DL
18 UFA

They have Harvin and Peterson and I suppose Kevin Williams is still pretty good but other than that nothing special.
Arguably his best move was signing Longwell. That's it. He got lucky when Al David passed on AP. But he's also got a coach that misuses him.

I for one hope the he stays under the radar because he's terribly at drafting late along with overpaying in trades.
On Purple Pride message board they're reduced to arguing over whether the 1998 season was better than the 2009!

Neither team won the Super Bowl, of course. But both came close.

Ouch!

P.S. Thanks Ted!
Today's TMQ column adds a nugget or pure gold that I hadn't seen yet:
quote:
Green Bay leading 10-3 with nine seconds remaining before intermission, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to James Jones in the corner of the end zone. There was a slight chance Jones did not get both feet in, so a booth review began. Over on the Vikes' sideline, Childress threw his challenge flag. Coaches cannot challenge in the final two minutes of a half. It was embarrassing for Childress to seem to have no idea how this rule reads.

Yeah they mentioned it for a second on the game cast I think too. I didn't have DVR so I couldn't rewind to check.

A couple weeks ago against the Bears Cutler had a 3rd down play where he was across the LOS and threw a pass. Standard call, 5 yard penalty and a loss of down. Chilly was on the sidelines trying to decline the penalty.

Can you guys name another team that has "almost" won the SB more than the Vikings? I can't.
It boggles my mind that so many coaches don't understand the challenge rules. Why don't teams designate a guy on gameday where all he does is worry about challenging plays? Literally, on any questionable plays he looks at the replay and tells the coach whether or not to throw the flag. The guy could already be on the staff. Have Rob Davis do it.
Fortunately i think the queens r on the brink of becoming the lions of the 2010's. They r in shambles, some draft picks already traded away, mostly veterans on team ready to retire and the few middle age vets worth a darn are due to become FA's (most likely will want to jump ship -like Rice).Massive amount of money already spent. They have several older vets still under contract but definitely in decline or not worth what they are getting paid so maybe dumped.Secondary absolutely stinks as well as offensive line.I would say only 2 players long term to build around Peterson and Harvin and Peterson is due to be FA pretty soon himself.Mngmt is in disarray. Not sure of even where they are going to play...
Its Great to be a Packer Fan !!!!

I wouldn't be upset at all if Rice came to play for Green Bay. We need another WR. At least a solid #2. I don't trust Jones.
