Stacking success. It's pawsitive.

Jermichael Finley with the catch of the day. Stretches out on the run for a big gain, from Rodgers.

Micah Hyde interception off tipped pass on throw from Vince Young.

Johnny Jolly leaps for another tip himself but this one is caught by Myles White. Still, he gets his hands on a lot.

-- #SwattyJolly --

Harrell with four straight completions vs the scout team. To Boykin, White, Gillett, then Boykin again.

And on the fifth, he throws one to Jarrett Bush's numbers but the cornerback drops the interception.

Bush drops pick, walks to sideline and does push-ups. Wanted that one

-- don't know if anyone works harder than Bush --

Johnny Jolly with ANOTHER batted pass at the line of scrimmage.

-- guy has the knack --

Wouldn't mind seeing Jolly get 20 reps with the starters against Seattle to see where's he's at but I don't see any way he's not making the 53 at this point. I don't think he's where he wants to be from a conditioning standpoint and he's still making plays.

Nelson still hopeful for Week 1 Return

GREEN BAY, Wis. – When receiver Jordy Nelson opted to undergo knee surgery two weeks ago, he did so because he believed he could return in time for the Green Bay Packers’ regular-season opener at San Francisco on Sept. 8.

Nelson had surgery on Aug. 5 to correct what ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported was a nerve issue that has bothered him on and off since college. Two weeks into the recovery, Nelson remained hopeful that he will be ready for the opener. But in his first public comments since the surgery, he offered no guarantees.

“Our main goal is San Fran,” Nelson said. “And that’s just a goal. You never know what could happen. We’ll just continue to go day by day.”

Nelson would not reveal any details about the surgery but said the problem flared up after a practice during the opening week of training camp. He said if had this happened during the regular season, he could have continued to play.

“I said there’s enough time left for opening week, and we felt we’d be able to get in and get out and be ready to go,” Nelson said. “So that was our plan.”

On Monday while the team practiced outside, Nelson went inside the Don Hutson Center to work out with strength and conditioning coach Mark Lovat.

“It’s felt good,” Nelson said. “We’re slowly progressing still. We’ve been able to do different things with different stuff the trainers have in there for us to speed up the process, so it felt good. We’re right on where we thought we would be.”

Am I the only one who wonders why Jordy hasn't had the surgery some off-season given that it's "bothered him off & on since college"?  Hope he does lots of stretching so he doesn't get a hammy his first week back.

Thats a decent question and I wondered same. One guess would be he felt he could deal with the pain without surgery or he downplayed his discomfort to trainers/medical staff.

For as much grief as the med staff gets with injuries last 2 of 3 seasons even the best staff can't help players if a guy like Jordy isn't being forthcoming as to how he's feeling. It would have been nice to have done this even during OTA's. He would have been fine by this time in TC.

Yep, this is frustrating. I hope he recovers completely. I doubt he'll be there in SF. Getting a knee cut open and having nerves moved around is something that takes time to heal.

Jordy probably still helps out around the farm.  Not wanting to let down the family might have affected his decision.  Not defending it, but I like Jordy enough that it doesn't bother me...much.  Not many players I'd say that about, either.

..of course the players used to say that Vince got the order a little mixed up at times

Ted's philosophy on night practice.

in a perfect world I’m a get-up-in-the-morning and get it done, and I think the team kind of likes that too because you don’t sit there and sweat the practice all day long. You get up and you get at it, sorta like getting up and cutting your grass early in the morning. Get it done and it’s out of the way."

Rob Demovsky ‏@RobDemovsky 3m Rookie Sam Barrington looks entrenched on special teams. He's on both the No. 1 punt return and kickoff return team. Expand Tom Silverstein ‏@TomSilverstein 4m Ross is second at KORs.

Lots of first-team reps for Graham Harrell with Aaron Rodgers' absence, including on an INT to Jarrett Bush right there.

Fumbled snap exchange between Lewis and Vince Young. Next play, Young has a dropped interception.

Harrell hits James Jones on a slant to open.

Then puts a good ball on DJ Williams at the sideline.

I understand why but I'm really getting the feeling it's over with Young. He may have had "it" at one time but that ship has sailed. I don't blame TT or MM for checking him out just to be sure.

God dang it. There goes Chastin West again....Aw shucks.

I saw a lot of VY when he was at TX (as I live in Austin) and his throwing motion always looked half-arsed. His overall talent is not in question for me, it is his ability to put a ball in a tight spot... and he still can't do that, at least based on the little we've seen from him this pre-season. I'd be fine if they keep him until the final cuts and give him another week - 10 days to exhibit some level of driving the ball. He is the king of putting air under his throws, always has been.

That said, if it is between VY or Harrell on the 53 with BJ going PS again, I'd take Harrell because of: a) his knowledge of the O;  b) his confidence in the O and slightly better D reading;  & c) the emergence of Lacy, the return of Finley, and the play-calling of McCarthy to put GH in a position to succeed.

I thought this might be coming. White had a great stats game Saturday, but Walker (who had a couple of drops saturday) looks the part more to me than White. It seems like every time White catches the ball the wind blows and he's on his ass.

That 15 yard snag by Walker on Saturday was a thing of beauty.
