Looks like they missed out on a chance to get 42 a spot in the hall of shame

Might be time for a follow up book because we all know the NFL is littered with plenty of good guys but maybe like Duhrren Sharpier they are just misunderstood or their claims are taken out of context

He was also one of the players responsible for the infamous 4th and 26th. People have the guts to refer to him a former elite safety. The guy was a stat padder and thats all he was. I never liked him and like him even less now, I just wish the Loins woulda drafted him now!

You're right, I knew there was one other unmemorable moment involving him.

I don't think the Young pass was in the NFCC game.

I think it was the game where Rice had fumbled and we would've won the game right there.  Then, Young took them a bit further and then with 8 seconds left hit the Hall of Famer (sarcasm) WR Owens for that TD.  Yes, Sharper played that horribly.

I was a Sharper fan from about 2000-2003. Even though he still was contact-shy during those Pro Bowl years, he actually was above average. I don't think Darren is going to like prison very much. Way more violent than a football game in the big house.

It was a playoff game.  Holmgren's last game as HC for the Packers too.

I was so irked by Sharper's poor play on the 4th and 26 debacle that I edited the Wikipedia post when it first popped up and blamed it all on Nick Barnett. Sharper was WELL PAST the FIRST DOWN MARKER when Freddie Mitchell caught the ball, playing it for an INT as Vick had been sailing the ball that day. Had he been AT the marker he could've had a pass defensed and the team would've won. There is no I in Team or Sharper, but he sure played like there was.

Brak- I hope you didn't mess with tomorrow's Presidents Day holiday...

I had planned to put the finishing touches on my highly-anticipated 47 round mock

If convicted and sentenced, he is sure to do time in a min security white collar joint with Madoff and his entourage.  Blast all you want about DS paying his dues but it just taint gonna happen.

and then there's this:

Serial rape suspect Sharper promoted women's safety

Former NFL star Darren Sharper once felt so strongly about violence against women that he wrote an essay about it for a book in 2010. He lamented how women are "undervalued and exploited," saying that as a father he felt compelled to speak up.

"Money cannot buy the women we love everyday security, which men take for granted," Sharper wrote in the book. "So, it's going to take strong, accountable men to educate young boys and influence other men to deal with women respectfully, honorably and fairly at all times."

Four years later, Sharper, 38, is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday on charges that he raped two women after giving them drinks laced with a sedative to knock them out. Sharper posted $200,000 bail after he was arrested on Jan. 17, but prosecutors in Los Angeles will ask a judge to raise Sharper's bail to $10 million, noting that Sharper is under investigation for seven rapes and 11 druggings in four states. Sharper faces up to 30 years in prison for the Los Angeles charges alone.

This is just sick....how he has fallen in four year.  Ugh.

Sounds like an epiphany. Guessing his next statement would have been, "especially after I drug them", but for the damned editor.

and then of course there's Ray Rice and this video.  Another "good NFL guy".

New video shows Ray Rice dragging his unconscious fiancee.

TMZ Sports has obtained footage of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice dragging his fiancee (who appears to be out cold) out of an elevator in an Atlantic City casino ... moments after cops say they attacked each other on the property.

The footage was shot on February 15th ... right before Rice and his fiancee Janay Palmer were both arrested for assault at the Revel Casino. Cops say they have video which proved both parties attacked each other.

But before the arrest, Ray can be seen trying to lift and move a seemingly unconscious Palmer out of a casino elevator.

While Palmer is sprawled out on the ground, a man in a suit -- who appears to be talking into a security microphone --  approaches the situation and confronts Rice. It's unclear if the man is security, but it sure seems that way.

Moments later, as Palmer seems to regain consciousness, Rice walks away.

Both Rice and Palmer were later arrested and taken to a nearby police station. They've since been released.

Ray's attorney Michael Diamondstein tells us ... he has not seen the video but is adamant, "Neither Ray nor myself will try this case in the media."

He adds, "However, the video that's being posted by TMZ Sports is not the complete event, but is merely the end result of what transpired."

"We'll assure the public that when this matter is fully tried and completed, you'll have a better understanding of what happened and we ask the public to reserve making any judgment until all of the facts come out."

Darren Sharper accused of two more rapes, arrest warrant issued

The New Orleans Police Department announced today that it has issued an arrest warrant for Sharper, who stands accused of raping two women in New Orleans on September 23. He faces two charges of aggravated rape, as does an acquaintance of Sharper’s, Erik Nunez.

One of the women said she met Sharper at an event for Saints players, and that Sharper gave her a drink. She says that after she drank it there is a gap in her memory of several hours, and that the next morning she woke up with Sharper on top of her, sexually assaulting her.

In a separate case, authorities say that after a woman accused Sharper of drugging her, the glass she said Sharper gave her was analyzed and found to contain a prescription sleep medication.
