He raped 9 women in 6 separate incidents in 4 states. He'll be a free man before his 50th birthday. What a complete ****ing joke.

Think of all the people that worked hundreds of hours building a case against this **** and he gets 9 years. I'd have a tough time being a cop. I don't know how they do it.

I'm surprised he even got nine years. That's a lot of time for a rich person. Still did a lot better than normal people, non-millionaires would get a couple hundred years in prison for what he did.

9 years is just ridiculous, he is a predator who should be locked up until he is an old man.  If all those rapes occurred in one state I find it hard to believe he would have received a one year per rape sentence.

This is the first I've read of this but check this out from Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report

3. Sharper heads to prison

I wrote about Darren Sharper last year in what has been a remarkable case. At least part of that horrible case is coming to an end as he makes plea deals. The fear, however, is even more bad news might come.

In speaking to team officials who have followed the case, I can tell you there is great fear that Sharper will implicate other NFL players. That has been the fear since Sharper was first arrested, but now that fear is bigger than ever. Maybe Sharper will lie to save his own butt or maybe not. But that is the concern. He will say something that could make this already sad and disturbing case even worse.

I don't see Sharper as a guy who'd take the fall for several other guys. If he stoops so low to drugging women to rape them, I can't see him standing up to be the fall guy. Rather, I see Sharper as the guy who'd point fingers pretty quickly.

The whole deal makes me sick. It's tough to continue backing football hearing so many stories of abuse toward women by players, and then to watch the guys get a slap on the wrist.

9 year sentence would actually make a little sense if he's agreed to name names.

It's still hard to stomach 9 years for what he did but if he helps take another group of rapists out of circulation then it's at least something that speaks to why he only got the 9 years.

Looks like there is an allegation that St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's department may have been involved in conspiring to commit these rapes as well.  Might be assisting in that investigation.

Something else is that while he appears likely to get out after nine years on this 20 year sentence, he will likely still be on supervision through the 20.  That could lead to future incarceration on this case.  The thing that makes this so much worse is that he was able to get up and do this in jurisdictions around the country.

As a prosecutor I think it is generally best to leave the plea to the person with all the facts and that is not us.  I think it would have been hugely politically advantageous for this prosecutor to bury the rich former athlete. Saints were not going to be hurt by this.  If he is helping in an investigation into a law enforcement agency that is helping in sexual assaults then that is the bigger target.

Prosecutors and judges take several things into consideration in these sentences.  I would say that the fact that he is not likely to reoffend is a big argument.  Everyone knows him.  What bar is letting him in at this point?  What neighborhood is he going to live in as a registered sex offender?  Collateral consequences for Sharper as he will never again work in TV and will never make another dollar in endorsements.  He's a guy who was going to make it from here on out on his reputation alone.  That is gone.  Maybe, in light of all this, 9 years of confinement followed by supervision is weak, but I just do not know enough to say.

Just while showing him pictures???

Heck, with modern technology, he should keep the "rings" on constantly, and the second the prick's dick gets too thick... *ZAP* *ZAP* with his victims at the controls.

Yes, yes, sounds like a plan...

Oh, and this? "...ex-Saints star."

Federal judge has rejected Darren Sharper's original plea deal — says it was too lenient.

Former NFL star Darren Sharper, accused of drugging and raping women in four states, could spend up to 20 years in prison under a plea deal accepted by a federal judge in New Orleans on Tuesday.

The five-time National Football League Pro Bowl safety last year pleaded guilty or no contest to charges of drugging and raping nine women in Louisiana, Arizona, California and Nevada as part of a series of plea agreements.

But in February, U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo in Louisiana rejected the original plea arrangement, saying the proposed nine-year prison sentence was too lenient.

On Tuesday, Milazzo said the new deal reflected the federal sentencing guidelines of a 15- to 20-year prison term for the crimes alleged.
