Well if you were in this position... I don't thinK that was Yoga you were doing, no wonder it hurt.

We all know TT's too cheap to make a real free agent move but that doesn't mean there isn't a deal now screaming to be done. Re-sign Robert Ferguson, he's available after all, Josh Cribbs is out for at least two games so package Ferguson with Bush and get the Joe Thomas deal finally done already.
Yoga is good. BJ Raji in Yoga pants is not.
Newhouse is not starter-quality (though fine as a swing) so I'd love to see Bakhtiari take the LT job and run with it with Newhouse and Barclay fighting it out at RT.
Good left tackles don't make it to free agency too often or aren't available via trade. The Packers are going to have to stay the course with drafting and developing. Either David B. or maybe just maybe Sherrod will step forward to seize this opp.
Also, people need to stop panicking. Campen's got this.
Henry, that's what I said earlier about hoping MM calls more runs to keep the pressure off AR and our OL. I also hope he calls more slants and screens. Once upon a time we were really successful using those plays, and I would like us to go back to them.
Also, people need to stop panicking. Campen's got this.
That is the problem

I feel so much better now. Thank you.
Honestly, I'm doing better today but this "season-ending" garbage has got to stop. We've absorbed more than our fair share of injuries
Poor James.
I actually agree with Bert in "overcoming your coaching".

I have to say this made me laugh and lightened my mood a bit.
First depth chart released today...Bulaga at LT1, Bakhtiari at LT2, Newhouse at RT1, Barclay at RT2.
Gotta believe the rook is gonna get the go at LT1 and prove himself. That would move Datko up to LT2, and I just don't see that being a viable option, even to spell the rook.
Lots of work to do now in the pre-season on the OL...should make for good TV.
What's the latest on Sherrod? Is he healthy enough to practice yet? With such a bad injury, I wonder if he will ever be the same? And, not that he looked great but with a little time he could have been good. Maybe still can be?
Notice Crosby is the number 1 kicker on this years first depth chard. Good I was worried all his misses would go to MM's head.

Sherrod can't even nut up to practice much less play.
Keep telling yourself he's a bust, and if proven otherwise, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Barclay has also completely changed his body and still has a lot of upside left, unlike that stiff Newhouse, who is what he is - barely adequate and best-suited for the swing backup rolel where he can get you through a game or two.
So why would a 24yr old Don Barclay have lots of potential left and a 24yr old Marshall Newhouse be all that he's going to be?
MM on 7/26
Derek Sherrod (leg) remain out, but McCarthy said Sherrod is “much further along” than in the spring, when he was able to do some drill work. Rules prevent Sherrod from doing any drill work in camp, however, until he passes his physical.
And from January on what his issues were and his mental readiness,
If the day comes Sherrod is able to return unabated, however, Campen doesn’t expect the learning curve to be too great for the former first-round pick.
“I don’t think so with him. I don’t think so with a kid like him,” Campen said. “You’re dealing with a guy who played in the SEC, a high level of football and the character of that kid. He’s doing everything he can to get on the field and he’s a smart, intelligent guy. He’s not a mental error guy. He holds himself accountable. He’s an excellent teammate. He doesn’t like to disappoint. Once he’s cleared, I think he’ll be off and running.”
I think the plan was to let him start the season on the PUP. Maybe that's accelerated now, but I doubt it.
On second thought...
Tell me more about this "yoga"

29 starts and 24.5 sacks. Same exact body type. Same exact problems that have never gotten better.
6 starts and 5 sacks. 3 in his 4th start, none against the same guy the following week. Totally different physical makeup and approach. Corrected problems as he played more games.
Why wouldn't Barclay have more upside IMHO than a guy who hasn't gotten any better in almost two full years of starting?
Lets see if TT master plan has a chapter for these types of situations before a season in which GB was definitely a contender for the SB? How long do you keep not making trades, building through the draft and take care of the salary cap?
Ooops
Exactly who is going to trade the Packers a quality starting left tackle? Any good tackle heading to free agency is signing with his team--only the ones without talent or on the decline hit free agency. You want to fix your offensive line at the tackle position with long term quality, you draft that position.
Bottom line is that we drafted two tackles in the first round in the last 5 years. We had every expectation they would be long term, quality starters. Is it TT's fault that they both got hurt?
Ok Ok. so TT is always right. This forum is made only to talk about how great he is and why he shouldn't try to do something else. Got it.
I was only thinking in him addressing the OL issue by other means (i dont know the answer guys if not i would be working as a GM).
In the last couple of seasons, just after the famous Zone Blocking was "established" we all have felt a better OL and thus a better rushing offense would make the Pack offense unbeatable. Injuries happen, but also different paths to "adjust" to these inconveniences.
But again, sorry, I am only a Smurf as some "genius" posted!!! jajajaja

Tell me more about this "yoga"
I thought you were supposed to breathe into your abdomen and not your chest. She's obviously doing it wrong.
But it looks so right!
Bulaga is a good player but I'm not even sure he's their best OL much less their 3rd most important player. Some of the panicking and whining in this thread is classic.
More yoga and less "the sky is falling" banter and you'll feel a lot better
But it looks so right!
I will second that emotion
Sitton is the best OL on the team, but he doesn't play tackle.
We (shareholder) finished 5th in offense last year, and even without Bulaga we were tied 24-24 with the Whiners in the 3rd quarter.
We did not have Bulaga for much of last year. It sucks, but there isn't anything that can be done about it.
There is still a possibility we will get better line play this year if Bakhtieri grows up in a hurry. The backfield will be improved.
If the defense steps up, we will be there at the end with a chance to advance.
Even with the tough schedule, this team is still going to win the division.
I would say Bulaga 'was' the second most important player on this team. In the words of Peter Sellers; "Not any more'..they did it in '11...who knows how Baktari will be...but somehow, another tackle is going to have to be found....We'll see if TT can pull a tackle out of his hat...he is going to need to
Well said Coach.
I was going to agree with a few more posts, but you summed it up nicely.
Oh, and I am a big fan of watching yoga.. well at least now!
I'm just surprised one "raisin" is all she has as an "after workout" snack.
Ok, I'm over the initial shock and am now CONVINCED that Bacteria will be more than adequate.

You can call yourself Samantha, I'll slap you around all the same.

We have no choice but to let the kid play, and TBH, nothing reported so far has been turrble. Regardless, Bulaga going down doesn't help our depth. Sherrod with an in game compound fracture and an extremely difficult recovery doesn't help our depth.
We need the "Next Man Up" as noted earlier... and the theme of 2010.
It would be great for Sherrod to come back and make some kind of contribution. We all ended up appreciating Flanny for what he became... after he broke his leg, barely made the club, got traded and rejected, came back and was the the utility guy until one of the best Centers the team had, well had in a while.
I agree. 'nuff of the DOOM.
Enjoy the season.
(On a side note, did anyone else ever notice the Man vs Food epidsode where he went to Arrowhead and they were playing the Packers? It was the one regular season loss and where we lost Sherrod)
I'm just surprised one "raisin" is all she has as an "after workout" snack.
Why, some people would bitch with a ti......
Oh, wait.
Nevermind.
Honestly I loved what I saw from this guy in camp. He looked like he belonged and his only problems were things that only improve with experience. If the other 4 guys on the line, the TEs, the backs, and Rodgers can do their jobs then it will make Bak's life a lot easier and will help him be successful. The biggest help Bak could get is Eddie Lacy. If teams are respecting the run they won't line up so wide and aggressively attack our Tackles.
I know it may be unpopular, but I'm thinking it might be best to start the season with Newhouse at LT and Barclay at RT. We already know how SF will attack those 2 and if Bak has any kind of future at LT it would be best to ease him into the job. Throwing him to the wolves immediately against Aldon Smith could hurt his confidence. And if he struggles and they have to replace him, that could damage his confidence majorly. It took TJ Lang a while to get some confidence back after Jared Allen ripped him to shreds. It's apples to oranges a bit I know because Lang wasn't a true Tackle like Bak, but I'd hate to see Bak go out there and lose his mojo. My thinking is start the season with Newhouse/Barclay and if someone needs replacing then Bak will be ready with a better idea of what he is up against.
I'm starting to move out of the grief stage and into the acceptance stage.
Bob McGinn has a great column up to add some perspective:
http://www.jsonline.com/sports...070z1-218460911.html
The three silver linings are:
1) The Packers have still been really good offensively the last two years despite having Newhouse at LT
2) Recent Super Bowl winners haven't exactly had dominant LTs
3) There's reason to believe Bakhtiari could be the real deal
The biggest help Bak could get is Eddie Lacy. If teams are respecting the run they won't line up so wide and aggressively attack our Tackles.
Key.
I'm grateful for all the winning seasons we've enjoyed the last two decades, still amazed how we won the Super Bowl with all those injuries in 2010, and having another -- on paper -- Super Bowl-competitive team this year to root for.
That said, the injury to Bulaga is just mind-boggling. Of the 32 teams in the NFL, there has to date been no better player lost for the season to injury than him. Add to that the irony of moving him to LT to protect the best QB and highest paid player in the league. Add to that that the guy was totally healthy after missing most of last year due to a different injury. Add to that he was hurt in a scrimmage. Add to that we lose Tretter -- at worst the back-up Center and at best the starting Center -- for possibly the season in an OTA drill recovering fumbles. Add to that our other recent first-round OT still isn't recovered from a broken leg suffered almost two years ago.
So when I look at losing a #1 pick like Bulaga basically two years in a row, losing another #1 pick like Sherrod effectively two years in a row, losing #1 pick Perry for most of last year, losing #2 pick Worthy for likely this year, losing #2 pick Neal two years ago, #2 pick Nick Collins' career-ender, I ask the simple question: What other team in the NFL comes even close to having that kind of bad luck with significant injuries to so many of its highest draft picks it counts on to be key contributors??! And no wonder the Giants and 49ers beat us in the trenches -- it's where all our key injuries have been and keep occurring.
And it unfortunately reminds me of the horrible luck with recurring season-ending injuries we had in the 70s and 80s to so many of our #1 and #2 picks: CB Willie Buchanon (#1-72), OT Mark Koncar (#1-76), OLB John Anderson (#1B-78), HB Eddie Lee Ivery (#1-79), CB Tim Lewis (#1-83, career ending while in prime), WR Sterling Sharpe (#1-88, career ending while in prime).
We will overcome. Just unbelievable, that's all.
