Everything tangible and intangible seems to add up to a GB win yet there is one thing I can't quite rationalize. They did beat DAL twice. I haven't dug into those games so I don't know what happened there.
It's either a great sign that a vet defense can rattle the rookies or a realization that the Giants can also pull out games they have no right winning. Or both. They pulled a 2010 a couple times. Stats can never account for the crazy and lucky.
Being the Giants are the somewhat darlings at the moment and the Packers are angry/grumpy hot is the only thing I have to hang my hat on.
The Giants' situation at OT should allow us to generate pressure, which should help negate the deficiencies we have at CB. CMIII, Peppers, and Perry all need to be take advantage of good matchups.

Having corners who can cover means teams can use the safeties like movable chess pieces and that's when good things happen for the defense. Landon Collins is playing really well

Guys on NFL radio were saying that they expect AR to run for at least 4 first downs. Said that with the offense heating up he's had opportunities to run in past couple of games, but with injury to calf has not wanted to push his luck. However with playoffs they believe he will not hesitate to make Giants pay for playing man coverage.

I would look at last half or last six games of season to understand how teams are trending. We definitely have had issues back there ever since SS dinged out but I've been reluctantly impressed with the points our D has given up over the RTT.

We will have the same secondary in this game that we had in WK05, minus Rollins, plus Randall maybe.

I scanned some of the break down and found some things that contradict common held beliefs about both teams but also skipped to the end. This sums things up in an interesting way:

Adjustment Giants may make would be to blitz their big LBers, who Monty & Michael may have problems with. One of the things I noted from the Football Outsiders review is that the Giants are unbelievably consistent. Which is fine, but they are going to have to play above that consistency to win on Sunday

AR has a history with blitzers.
Just read the article. According to their stats we shouldn't expect WRs covered by Jenkins & Rodgers-Cromartie to get a lot of targets. Our TEs & whoever Apple covers appear to be more likely targets. Also look for AR to try to hit big plays on second & short, about the only down & distance the Giants defense has not been good at. They did give Monty a lot of love, but did not break down how Giants are vs. run in their Nickel defense, which I think will be a big factor in this game.

They blitzed corner from QBs blindside last week more than once out of Nickel defense when they had 5 DBs vs. 3 WRs . Of course I expect AR to be better prepared for it than Cousins appeared to be.
The Giants have won a bunch of games ugly this year, something that's escaped them in the past couple of down years. Their defense has kept games close enough for Manning to hit a Beckham or Shepard for a short throw and yac for big plays. I think for GB to prevail they will need to take care of the football and not give up cheap turnovers. They will have to play 60 min in all 3 phàses. If the game is within one score into the 4th qtr. it will get really dicey.

Except they can't block for ****. I would expect Kerridge in for pass protection/lead blocking if necessary.

They can stop the run. That's the way to beat Dallas.
I hope they stop the run better than they did in the first game against Dallas. Elliott ran for 157 yards on 28 carries.

A source tells ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that the Packers expect to have fullback Aaron Ripkowski against the Giants, even though he injured his shoulder in practice on Saturday and was added to the injury report as questionable. Aaron Rodgers told coaches he wants Ripkowski on the field on third down for blitz pickup.

It's pretty clear Ripkowski is a necessity. I see Tretter is questionable as well. I don't know how bad the knee is but I wonder if they would use him as an option for a heavy package.

Points and yards will be very hard to come by against the NYG. Have faith in AR doing enough for the win; it's the defense that scares me to death.
Remember, no more Probable classification, so many Questionable injuries today were Probable a year ago.
I think it would've taken a broken leg for Rip NOT to play in this game.
No matter what happens today, I want to go on record as saying that I'm proud of this team and what they have done since going 4-6. I was one of those who was calling for a clean slate (I'm sure someone can dig up my old posts if needed). I was calling for a lose out the rest of the season to improve draft status. I am enjoying my crow. I've browned it a little and thrown it into a great roux. I'm serving it as kind of an etouffe over some dirty rice. I figured a cajun theme would be nice.
I'm not sure how today's game/rest of the playoffs will go, nor do I know what the off season holds. However, I love this team and being a Packer fan. I will not enjoy leaving home immediatley after the game and going into work, but such is life. Hopefully it will be after a Packer's playoff win so I can remind some of those I work with here in detwat, that they haven't had one in a long, long time.
BTW, a little advise from DocBenni after my shift last night: if you ever plan on sticking something into your a$$. Please tie a string to it.....
