We are going backwards... Sucks.   We're openly discriminating based on race.. We are self segregating by race on college campuses...   We have multiple anthems based on race?    This can't be what equality looks like.

I'm hopeful that it's just the pendulum swinging and we are at the peak of craziness before we come back to a better place.

"And I came to see what the Supreme Court meant when they came out saying that separate facilities are inherently unequal. There is no such thing as separate but equal. Separation, segregation, inevitably makes for inequality, and I think that is the first reason why segregation is evil, because it inevitably makes for inequality"

Honestly find it fascinating that this is the admissions issue folks have with colleges. That they are bringing in a few underqualified black kids onto campus. Meanwhile, these same schools have a long history of accepting underqualified "legacy" students. Students from powerful white families who have been getting into these schools based solely on the merits of their parents bank accounts. No one complains.

We are being divided and conquered by the wealthy corporate interests. Instead of focusing on the true issues in this country we are pointing fingers at each other. Meanwhile the erosion of traditional American institutions continues unchallenged.

DUDE.. The article I linked to way earlier..  HAD THIS SAME ARGUMENT and you called the guy naive.

100% agree.   Divide and conquer.  Black vs White, Vax vs UnVax, Men vs Women.  It's hate and fear in your face all day from every possible angle.   I refuse to hate my neighbor so they can fuck off.

What's ironic about all of this is that Al Davis was by far the most progressive owner in the league in his time (and likely in the NFL's history), hiring the first female executive in NFL history - Amy Trask - and hiring just the second African American head coach in NFL history - Art Shell.  Trask was CEO of the Raiders from 1997-2013 and have to imagine she's one of only a handful of females ever to serve at that level.  I recommend taking a look through her twitter feed to learn more about Davis.  And even though Shell was technically the second African American head coach, he was the first since Fritz Pollard in the 20's.  It was a huge step for minority coaches.

For all his quirks and mistakes, Al Davis was pointing the league in the right direction on these issues.  He would have fired Gruden on the spot.

And let's not forget Tom Flores.

Busted! I admit I didn’t read the whole thing. My bad.

@goaline

Good news. I actually got the mostly woke Mrs. Kiel to watch the Chapelle special. Caught  her laughing several times and at the end she agreed the angst and attempt at canceling ( which I know is not an actual thing) by the trans Netflix gang was bullshit. I hope this gives you the safe space you need.πŸ˜€ Also, Peggy Noonan nails it on Chapelle .
