No.  RB the least of our needs, with Lacy/Starks, and especially not in the first round.  Lacy will be in his 3rd year, Starks signed thru next year.  You aren't going to take away Lacy's 15-20 carries, and Starks 5-10 to divvy up with a 3rd back.  We will get another back to replace Dujon Harris, 5th/6th round.

Maxx Williams...doubtful Ted takes a TE in the first round.  Would like to see these following inside LB's--Benadrick McKinney fall to us, or either Denzel Perryman or Erick Kendricks.  The knock on the last two is they are only 6 feet tall, but very instinctive and hard hitting.

I don't think Perryman is even six feet tall.  I wonder how Ted feels about that?  He definitely does not draft short DBs.  Remember D.J. Smith?  He was under 6 feet and Ted drafted him, but he didn't last past the first year.

I don't think McKinney makes it to #30.  Nobody has Kendricks as a first rounder but he figures to be one of the fastest linebackers in the draft and Ted likes athletes on defense.  I wouldn't count him out at #30 although most would say that's too high.

Ted probably wants an ILB more than anything in round one but he'll probably also want a DT early.  If I were to make a guess today I'd say Malcom Brown/Texas in round one.  He's pretty complete, fits a 4-3, 3-4, one-gapper or two-gapper.  If he craps out at NG then he could kick out to DE and would probably be OK there.  It wouldn't be crazy to think Ted might like Carl Davis/Iowa at #30 either.  He'll be projected much lower than that but Ted loves his Hawkeyes and one thing is for sure, Davis did not get steamrolled in the Wisconsin game like so many other opposing defensive linemen did (Randy Gregory anyone?).

If Bulaga is not retained then Ted might have to go OT in the first.  If you don't have five then you can't play (unless your name is Belichick).

I've determined you continuing to think I'm a huge Pac 12 guy simply because of my user name or because I picked Oregonis funnier than chicky thinking I was a huge Angels fan because of my user name even though I posted all over the Brewers board.

I attended and have degrees from 2 different Big Ten schools.   BS in Engineering from Illinois and an MBA from Michigan.  I couldn't give a rip about Pac 12 football, other than watching it like any college football game.  And, let's be honest, anything is more interesting to watch than Illinois football.

But, just because I'm a Big Ten guy doesn't make it less funny when the annual DRAFT EVERY BADGER cacophony starts up.

Rip the Pac 12 all day.  Couldn't care less.

That said, if I could do it all over, I would so go to Arizona State.  Weather, girls, easy schooling, girls, great campus, and girls.

I am going through the various stages of recovery and may have reached aggravation, because I totally agree with you that if Hawk or Brad Jones is on the roster next season and their money has not gone to more deserving players, I will probably lose it.

Bulaga will be an interesting situation. He's so injury prone, which obviously lowers his value, but when he plays he performs very well. He's a reliable RT when available, but he has struggled to be available. The curveball, and some will laugh, is JC Tretter. Tretter obviously had a couple bad plays at RT, but if the coaching staff thinks he truly has a future as a starting RT then they might be willing to let Bulaga walk if his price is too high. I think Tretter has starting potential which is why I won't be surprised if they let Bulaga walk, but I have a good feeling Bulaga's price tag won't be too high.
Slocum better be the first announced casualty. But it is time to really evaluate McCarthy. I was ready to exalt him to Bellichik level- then he goes and let's his team blow the Super Bowl. Maybe McCarthy is fools gold. So Thompson needs to have a close eye on how this team responds. Will this loss galvanize the team, or unravel them. Is Rodgers starting to doubt him? It's definitely something to watch- Thompson will earn his money in 2015. It's a pivotal year for the future of this franchise. Some tough decisions await.
I don't think Tretter is a starting caliber OT- interior sure, but not OT. But I do agree that Bulaga's tag won't be too much. As well as that group played, keeping them together should be a priority.

If Gordon is sitting there at 30, you take him. No brainer. He would be an explosive addition to this offense. Say hello to the Jet, Packer fans!

1. That makes your status as an Angel honk all the more confusing.

2. All that edumucation makes some of us despise you. Commie.

Surely you recognize that there is a segment of x4 that tends to the position of "Former Wisconsin Badger is available!  Sign him, Ted Thompson!!"  It's more or less the same thing as the people who, at cutdown day in August, look at the players cut and say, "Ooh, veteran free agent whose name I recognize is available!  Sign him, Ted Thompson!!"

Last year's FA comps:

Wide Receivers

1. DeSean Jackson (Signed three-year, $24M deal with WSH)
2. Eric Decker (Signed five-year, $36.25M deal with NYJ)
3. Jeremy Maclin (Re-signed one-year, $5.5M deal with PHI)
4. Hakeem Nicks (Signed one-year, $3.975M deal with IND)
5. Julian Edelman (Re-signed four-year, $17M deal with NE)
6. Golden Tate (Signed five-year, $31M deal with DET)
7. Anquan Boldin (Re-signed two-year, $12M deal with SF)
8. Steve Smith (Signed three-year, $11M deal with BAL)
9. Santonio Holmes
10. James Jones (Signed three-year, $11.3M deal with OAK)

Offensive Tackles

1. Eugene Monroe (Re-signed five-year, $37.5M deal with BAL)
2. Jared Veldheer (Signed five-year, $35M deal with ARZ)
3. Branden Albert (Signed five-year, $46M deal with MIA)
4. Anthony Collins (Signed five-year, $30M deal with TB)
5. Rodger Saffold (Re-signed five-year, $31.7M deal with STL)
6. Donald Penn (Signed two-year, $9.6M deal with OAK)
7. Michael Oher (Signed four-year, $20M deal with TEN)
8. Breno Giacomini (Signed four-year, $18M deal with NYJ)
9. Austin Howard (Signed five-year, $30M deal with OAK)
10. Zach Strief (Re-signed five-year, $20.5M deal with NO)

My guess is Bulaga falls in the $6-8M/yr range and Cobb can fetch $8-10M. With the rollover, cutting Jones/Hawk and the expected cap increase, I've read there should be more than enough room to keep these two in GB.

The hyperbole is perhaps one of the most widely recognized forms of figurative language and one that permeates everyday life through the advertising and entertainment industries. Hyperbole is the use of exaggeration for extra effect. The author can use hyperbole to add extra drama or comedy to a situation or even for the purpose of propaganda.

Hyperbole, like other figures of speech, is used to communicate ideas, emotions, and images in a more efficient way than through plain language. For example, an author might want to say that Mary lives in a large house. The reader knows that Mary lives in a big house, but that is all. No other context is given to explain how big the house is. Characteristics like size are often relative to the experiences of the reader and may not accurately portray what the author intends. For example, for a wealthy person who has lived in a mansion for all his life, a large house may mean something completely different than what a person with very little money may imagine. In this example, the author may want to use a hyperbole to frame his idea and give it context in order to allow the reader to better understand what he intends. In this case, the author may write, “Mary’s house is so big that the entire population of the city can fit into it.” By exaggerating the size of Mary’s house so dramatically, there is no question in the reader’s mind about how large Mary’s house is.

Hyperbole has been used throughout literature for many centuries. Heroic dramas, which are dramas with an emphasis on grandeur and excess, often make use of hyperbole to extend the effect and epic nature of the genre. Modern tall tales also make use of hyperbole to exaggerate the feats and characteristics of their protagonists. For example, the American tall tale about Paul Bunyan relies heavily on hyperbole to establish Bunyan’s giant stature and abilities. Hyperbole is also frequently used in comedy to offer a humorous description of somebody or something.

The fields of advertising and propaganda use hyperbole almost exclusively, which has led to it having a somewhat negative connotation. Typically advertisers or those writing propaganda use hyperbole to exaggerate the benefits or claims of their products in order to the boost sales, increase the image of, or increase the popularity of whatever they are advertising. The modern term “hype” is a shortened derivation of the term.

Hyperboles can often be combined successfully with similes and metaphors to increase their effectiveness, although an author must be careful not to use common phrases at the risk of being clichÃĐ. Also, exaggerations are only effective if the extent of it is outlandishly wild, otherwise, there would be no hyperbole. Like all figures of speech, when used correctly and in the proper context, hyperboles can be used to better express an author’s intentions and meaning.

chit chit chit.....chit.

Munsoned I love it and very good description because man this team sure finds a way to lose in dramatic fashion.  This game is why I trust TT and MM so much.  Ted will make the right moves for this team in a calm and efficient manner, And MM even with his bad calls at times seems to have his finger on the pulse of this team and I fully expect him to have this team ready next year.

If I had to make predictions for this offseason they keep Cobb, cut Hawk and Jones, and I expect a signing such as Kuhn or Raji coming back.  As for Bulaga? I think it will be a bidding war for him and the Packers will pass when it gets too expensive to retain him.  TT then goes heavily on D in the draft.

There is one thing I would like to see the Packers get and that is a change of pace RB. Get a guy that could be our Sproles who can change things up in the backfield.

No doubt C, Badger homers can be over the top sometimes. Name a team who doesn't have fans like that. I'm a big Badger fan and the homers DRAFT EVERY BADGER meme gets tiring for me too sometimes. I can also see where non Badger/BIG fans get sick of hearing as well. But that's just fans being fans and a big " So What "  in the whole scheme of things.

In this case, I don't think Gordon falls under the  DRAFT EVERY BADGER category. The guy has a real chance to become something special at the next level so it's worth discussing the scenario JJSD presented. Personally, It's a nice thought taking Gordon but I feel the team has bigger holes to fill than the RB position. I hope TT goes ILB in the first round if a suitable player is there. I would be fine with TT going the FA route too. Anything that gets Hawk and Jones out of that position works for me.

Bottom line for me is as long as the player/players TT acquires keep this team moving in the right direction then I couldn't care less what school they came from. Well, as long as they are all former Badgers. LOL

Per JSO:

Green Bay - The Packers have signed nine of their practice squad players to "future" contracts, which means they have been added to the 90-man off-season roster.

Those who were signed were:

  • WR Myles White
  • S Jean Fanor
  • RB Rajion Neal
  • CB Tay Glover-Wright
  • LB Joe Thomas
  • LB Adrian Hubbard
  • OT Jeremy Vujnovich
  • C Joe Madsen
  • OG Josh Walker

The only player who wasn't signed to a futures contract was WR Alex Gillett.

1978 Milwaukee Riverside High: General Studies 2.7 GPA

1983 UW-Milwaukee: General Studies 2.5 GPA.

Yet, we both wound-up here......

Took a lot less work on my part.
