Holy crap I just saw the GB weather forecast with a blizzard warning until Saturday and a max snow fall of 15-20 inches?  I for one would hate to be on that flight Saturday and I would have to hit the airport lounge hard before I got on that plane.

From ESPN:

On "Around the Horn" on Monday, ESPN's Ramona Shelbourne wondered whether the Eagles might have been laughing on the inside about losing out on the division title to the Cowboys. The 2-seed means at least one home game and avoiding the 49ers until the conference finals, but playing the Packers feels a lot more dangerous than playing the Buccaneers, given how Green Bay has won three straight to advance to the postseason.

Could be worse:

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said the team has adjusted its travel plans to Dallas to leave an hour later than usual. Typically, they fly out of Green Bay at 1:15 p.m. So this gives them more time to wait for the winter weather to clear up and pass.

@RobDemovsky:  Game statuses for Sunday's game at Dallas:

DOUBTFUL: AJ Dillon.

QUESTIONABLE: Jaire Alexander, Christian Watson.

Romeo Doubs is good to go.

@ByRyanWood:   Asked Matt LaFleur if #Packers know currently, even if they won't say, whether Jaire Alexander can play in Dallas: "We don't know. We're just giving him up to game time to figure it out. He will legitimately be a game-time decision."

@Boris posted:

Seriously you guys.....

Here Cowboys.....look at our cards....we have 4 Aces...

Wait for the injury report.....where Christian will be labeled "questionable"

Called it! 👇🏼🤭

If I was a betting man (and I will be this weekend) I don't think Jaire or Watson will play.  But honestly at this point any time either of them play its a bonus.

Anyhow the Packers have done well without those two for good chunk of the season so why worry now?

Way back in October when we stunk I made reservations in Mazunute, Mexico starting Saturday.  I am wondering if any streaming links work outside the US?

I know, pretty stupid doubting our lads but at least I’ll be warm.

Pikes, the App "DAZN" claims to carry every NFL game for a $0.99 a week fee in Mexico.  Had to use it to watch the Panthers game on Christmas Eve.  Excellent app, IMHO. Good luck.

Since it's against an elite WR, I expect Jaire to go. However, if he starts getting toasted, I also expect him to take a seat -- either by his decision or the coach's decision. A half-good Jaire was getting his pants taken down earlier this year, and GB can't afford that happening again.

Michael Wilbon is cheering for the Packers this weekend. He wants to see Dallas burn.

edit: And Dan Hampton on the ultimate homer show Pro Football Weekly picked the Packers to win this week.

Listening to The Athletic Football Show today while I was blowing snow, Nate Tice, son of former Vikings meathead coach Mike Tice, sure likes our players and MLF. Surprising from an acknowledged Packer hater(he is also a former UW backup QB). He is gaga over:

MLF: The guys couldn't say enough about his play action game. They think Aaron Jones is the key to an upset.

Devonte Wyatt: Talked about how he dominated Darnell Wright last week. Darnell Wright had been playing really well until he came face to face with Wyatt.

Tucker Kraft: Apparently laid down some smackdown on Montez Sweat during a running play that was pure filth. I've got to find a clip of that.

Dontayvion Wicks: Can't believe the Packers got this dude in the 5th. He reminds them of the steal they got from Zach Tom in the 5th round.

Good show. None of those guys would be shocked by a Packers upset, especially with the way Love is playing.

Look at the play that begins at :53. After you deal with the NFLFU's block, of course.
Kraft goes left to right across the formation and gets Sweat with a cut block.

Having AJ in the huddle is so critical. Having a Fresh AJ could be the difference maker

I'm excited to see what we can do with both musgraves and Kraft on the field

If the game came down to the kickers, advantage DAL

The pressure meter must be off the charts in jerry world right now!

Nate's been pretty positive on the Packers over the course of the season. Always get the sense he's more a fan of football and talent evaluation than getting caught up in the emotions of any rivalries.  Has the lifer coach's family attribute of appreciating the game over the colors because they know they're most likely moving 9n to somewhere else in the next 5 years. Thanks bro. Also check out his block on Sweat at the 1:33 mark.

He is an awesome listen. He really is just a football fan and he really knows the game. That’s my favorite football podcast. Go Long, the episodes with Bob McGinn, are also a can’t miss.

Prediction time .....

Packers vs. Cowboys.....the Ice Bowl...Aikman, Irvin and Smith....Dorsey Levens in 1997.... Cowboys taking out Jurkovic's knees in the NFC Championship Game....The Dez "catch"....Matt Flynn... getting the picture??

Packers OL...they've righted the ship and did a nice job vs. Vikings and Bears. 2 defenses that are no slouch. They're going to need every bit of that vs. The Cowboys DL. It isn't just Parsons either. Dexter Lawrence needs to be blocked too but the game plan should be built around running at Parsons and neutralizing his rush with chips and double teams.

Edge: Cowboy DL

Packers DL vs. Cowboys OL.... Will Berry keep "dialing it up" as Preston Smith suggested? Or will they keep playing patty cake like vs. Carolina? I believe the Packers have the edge in talent. Will Barry unleash it? To get some pressure on Dak and also stop the run with Quay like last week?

Slight Edge: Green Bay DL

Cowboy QB/WR's vs Packer DB's: Everyone talks about CeeDee Lamb and rightfully so....the key in this game will be covering Brandin Cooks. If you bracket coverage on CeeDee, Cooks will be single covered.....Cowboys have a chance for explosive plays here. Don't forget about Ferguson their young TE who is a Tucker Kraft clone. They shouldn't need to worry about Dak running too much like with J. Fields.

Edge: Cowboys

MLF vs. Dan Quinn: The Niners gave the league the Blueprint in how to slice & dice this Cowboy defense. Well guess what Dan....here come the Packers and if you don't think MLF was using the Niners tape, you're not paying attention. Not every team can do what the Niners did to the Boys, but the Packers CAN! My one issue is the Packer red zone offense. Last week they racked up a ton of yards but only 17 points. You have to catch the football when Love makes an All Pro throw. Pinning the ball against your thigh then rolling OOB isn't going to work on Sunday. 😁 Bo Melton.

Aaron Jones will be the key 🗝️ just like last week vs. The Bears

Slight Edge: MLF

MM vs. Joe Bury....um yeah

GIGANTIC EDGE: MM but Berry has the tools to work with. Time to coach your ass off for your next job Joe.

ST's: I'm just 🤬....Edge Cowboys Cowboys kicker is really good. Big edge Cowboys.

All the money is on the Cowboys Moneyline and the OVER (50.5).Screenshot_20240113-081914Screenshot_20240113-081825

Here's the money bet on the spread....

Screenshot_20240113-081742

Most of the money is on the Cowboys....and rightfully so. They are not over looking the Packers.

Mistakes will play a part in this game. Turnovers, can't have em if you want to upset the Boys. Conversely, takeaways. The biggest key to tightening the Cowboys sphincters.

I think Packers will move the ball but have trouble scoring. I don't see any way the Cowboys score less than 30....for the Packers to upset, they need to score and as I mentioned earlier the red zone offense has had trouble lately.

Cowboy fans....you don't get to act like it's you against the world. Nobody is picking Green Bay...nobody.

I see the score at 34-10 Cowboys in the 4th quarter. Packers get a late TD to back door cover the OVER.

Final score 34-17 Cowboys.

Let's see if our heroes in G&G can play better than I expect and shock the world. No matter what happens with the outcome, it will be a fantastic learning experience and I'm extremely proud of this team and how hard they fought to get into the playoffs.

For the Packers to upset the Cowboys, MLF is going to need to coach his ass off in this game. I remember him doing it vs. the Rams once in the playoffs. Shanahan gave you the blueprint bro....now use it!!

Playing with house money now and I'm hopeful for a 34-31 type game.

Enjoy the game everyone!

And who knows what Gutey's record would look like if a competent DC had been using the players he's drafted to their maximum ability.

And who knows what our record could have been?  With a competent DC, there are three to four games we could have won, and we might have even got one playoff game at GB and perhaps even a week off. That makes a difference in the odds.  So I hope MLF doesn’t get all starry-eyed over the defense playing decent for two weeks, and does Renee right thing to improve the team in the offseason and kicks FJB the fuck out of GB.
