This trope is pretty stupid.  So if your team is the reason why other teams have bad/average records that somehow counts against the team?  Okay.

From my NYG buddy:

- I mean what they packers have one win vs a team with a winning record the saints I can see the excitement
-  And two Losses vs the others Tampa and colts
-  And play one other team with a winning record the rest of year

-  Impressive

- You wanna crown them crown em

- Another uninspired performance and your digging on. Big blue to feel better

- Well next week youโ€™ll get a team with a winning record for the last time this year

So, apparently the way to prove yourself in this league is by losing to teams that have winning records, as the Giants have done with regularity. This from a guy whose team trails the 6-8 first place WFT in possibly the worst division in modern history. This is the logic akin to throwing shit at the wall when you've exhausted every other half baked smokescreen.

Some years back, we had an upcoming game vs the Cheatriots (possibly the game that Flynn started??), who were undefeated at that point in the season.
Our own Oshbaul commented "the Packers have earned the right to beat the undefeated team".
It totally changed my outlook on games that are deemed critical/crucial or 'big'.
There's no reason to go into this game with heads hanging down. Warts and all, we're a damn good football team. I just want our guys to give 'em their best.

You said heโ€™d be Brett Hundley. Well, fuck your shitty take.

Well fuck you and your insults.  But itโ€™s what you do here, so why should I expect any different.

Come find me in 5 years when Love is bagging groceries at your local Walmart.  He has Vince Young stink all over him.

He is yet another on a long list of running backs posing as quarterbacks.  Heโ€™ll flame out in two years because his body canโ€™t take the beating.  Then he will be exposed when he is forced to throw from the pocket.

17 interceptions in a weak mid major conference.  The decision making becomes far more difficult in the NFL.

Nobody "wants" to play Green Bay -- EVERY team in this league (That includes the KC Chiefs) knows they can lose to the Packers. You don't win 11 games in a season & every game/win is "lucky" -- had some bad luck vs. the Colts - Took them to OT with FOUR turnovers.

The Packers are not that bad & certainly they've earned a playoff slot.

#1 is a whole lot better than #2 this season. It's important.

Here's some Derrick Henry stats......

I imagine Henry will rush for 33% of that 3,249 yard total since the Packers are soo sooo bad at defense. 3,249 x 33% = 1.083 yards. Shattering the single game record. Packers still win on a last second Mason Crosby FG. and everyone "complains" how lucky the Packers are.....and how terrible their defense is & how Pettine should be fired.

Anybody that thinks the Packers can't win this game, needs to go cheer for another team.....like Tampa

The Packers can beat anybody if their offensive line holds up. When you have Rodgers playing with Jones and Adams, if the line plays well they can put up 40 on anyone. To win a Super Bowl, they may have to do that against the Chiefs.

The Packers defense all comes down to how well their DL plays. Alexander takes away one side of the field and if the safeties play as well as they have the last few games, their secondary is as good as anyone. They attack King because they can't go after Alexander. If the DL holds up, they can compete.

The thing that worries me about the offense is Lucas Patrick. Until he shows he can hold up, teams will scheme to attack him. Linsley coming back for the playoffs would help a lot.

Where do you get  that Love is a RB playing QB? Color of his skin?

The guy threw for 8600 yards and ran for 403 in 3 seasons. Da fuck?

That's an important distinction. It can be difficult to acknowledge right after a loss, or a game like Sunday where our team seemingly shut it down mid 2nd quarter. But i think the majority of this board can live with a loss if it's clear the Pack played well and just didn't finish. There are many, but one that comes to mind is GB-PITTS a few years back. It may have even been Flynn, idr. Pack takes the lead with a minute or two on the clock, Ben drives his team down and on the last play of regulation hits a wr on the left side of the endzone. TD PITT, game over. The Steelers made one more play than GB and they get the win. No shame in that GB performance.

This Titan game is a great challenge, but I can guarantee the entire Titan organization feels the same about going into GB. They have as much if not more to worry about if AR and the offense gets busy early. This game won't make or break either team, unless they allow it.

The Browns lost a thriller last week. Heartbreaker to lose a division game to a guy that prior to throwing the crucial td pass was shitting his pants. But it must have done them some good. They went into East Rutherford and smothered a NYG team that had been on a bit of a roll. Young team, on the road after a bitter loss, took care of business. They're learning how to grow into a team that understands what it takes to get a W. GB has been at that notch or two above them, and that's how we should expect them to play vs a quality opponent, win or lose.

Funny Henry. Packers win the Owl and there will still be those btiching about the '20 draft.

To win a Super Bowl you need 53+ at their best and working together consistently. Doesn't matter where those 53+ came from/how you obtain them.

The journey is the reward.

The draft is a crap shoot.

Nothing lasts forever.

Chicks dig the long ball.

Life goes on.

Wherever you go, there you are.

I think I'm going to take a shot Sunday night everytime someone brings up Love/P.Queen/missed WR draft pick in the game thread. Should be passed out by halftime.

So what is your definition of "stop"...presently we are 11th in the NFL. Since Pettine has started making these changes (last 3 games) we are averaging giving up 94 yards rushing ....the league average is 118.

Yes, there are going to be teams, that are worse than the Packers, at stopping the run. I thought we'd be better than we are, at it. Watching a guy like Cook run roughshod over us, in a game we lost, should tell us something. Mostert did the same thing, in the loss in SF. The kid in Tampa, too. This week, we get to face Derrick Henry. Will we stop him? Nobody else really has. Are we hoping the Packers' offense can offset, or counter, what Henry's running can do to us, in our game? All season long, and in parts of last year, the biggest complaint against the Packers was that they have no run defense. Now, we are facing one of the best RBs in the League and you are going to throw numbers at me showing how we are around the middle of the league in run defense and then ask me what my definition of "stop" is? How about me asking will we make Henry ineffective? Have the Packers done that, to any good RB, all season long? What's the average on that?

Itโ€™s amazing to me the pure anger on this thread and I havenโ€™t even mentioned  T J   W a t t or started drinking and posting yet.  Or posting then drinking?

Either way, we wonโ€™t know much about Jordan Love for some time.  You hope like hell it works out.  If it does, then itโ€™s a genius move by Gute.  But the NFL is so much about winning now that itโ€™s a throwback move.  Build and develop for the future.

The business at hand though is getting the 1 seed.  You do that and it puts you one step closer to the prize which is getting to and winning the Super Bowl.

I do think this week is a bit of a gut check for the Packers.  The Titans are really good and arguably they are better offensively than the Packers.  They feature a power running game and one of the two flaws this team has is defending stud RBs that can pound you into oblivion.

The game is really important for the Titans as well.  The AFC is loaded this year and Tennessee can win their division with a W and a Colts loss.

Should be a fun one for sure

Jordan Love is going to be under a microscope when he does start whether that's in 2022 or 2024. I have been critical of how the Packers approached the off-season. Not specifically picking Jordan Love, but in not doing something more to improve the team this year with higher draft picks or free agency. Maybe Dillon ends up being the James Starks of this season and makes contributions in the playoffs that didn't happen in the regular season.

Jordan Love is clearly not Tim Tebow. From what little film I've watched, he clearly has an NFL caliber arm and some raw skills. The question will be whether he can be developed into a poor-man's Mahomes (a very good NFL QB you can consistently win with) or ends up like a Jameis Winston (obvious physical talent that makes too many poor decisions).

The Titans game is a great measuring stick. As others have said, a win is important, but it's almost more important to see how they play. A loss in a close game in which Pettine shows he can at least prevent D. Henry from going wild a la the Niners running game in the playoffs last year gives us some hope that the defense can at least hang in there against power running games in the playoffs. A repeat of the Niners playoff game the defense just completely lacks the ability to even slow the running game down is a bad omen (even if the offense can win a shootout). It's likely the Packers will face a game in the playoffs where an opposing defense better than the Titans can slow down Rodgers and the offense and the defense will have to keep from getting dominated in the run game for us to have a chance.

Again with the name calling.  What are you 10?๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Well enjoy watching him suck.  With your level of intelligence, Iโ€™m sure you can come up with some genius names for him as well.

Pretty sure youโ€™ve been around these parts.  Donโ€™t act like a butthurt pussy newcomer.

I agree with you Love is likely a stiff but he isnโ€™t a scrambler like Young, etc.  The play style comparison to Hundley is pretty accurate, pocket passer except Hundley had zero athleticism and about the same decision making skills as Love.  (Hell, even thatโ€™s an insult to Love) I think Love becoming an Alex Smith style game manager with a little extra oomph is a win.  Itโ€™s not a move up in the first round, piss away a fourth rounder type of win but itโ€™s a pretty solid get.

You have to build a solid defense and a good run game around the kid.

On paper, the kid is phenomenal.  On tape, he succeeded in a dumper pass offense with WR getting a shit ton of YAC.  When that went away he was an interception machine.  His worst play wasnโ€™t always when he was hucking INTs either, it was his overall ability to see the field.  He has the athleticism to pull some amazing shit out of his ass but as we all know thatโ€™s a rough transition into the NFL.

I think people (Fanta buttsniffer) thinking all his current defects are coachable are  incorrect.  Kark canโ€™t read the field for shit either and thatโ€™s never going to change.

Also, the comparison to the Rodgers pick is absurd.  Rodgers was so far ahead in college compared to Love itโ€™s stupid to even suggest itโ€™s the same situation.

Not that Iโ€™m comparing Pat Mahomes to Jordan Love but go back and watch Mahomes college film and read some of the draft bio stuff.

Yes, he could make all the throws and was good at improvising, but he also took chances resulting in number of INTs and played in a gimmicky scheme that inflated his numbers.   But credit to PM- he landed in the perfect situation with the perfect coach and a lot of talent around him.

Mahomes also played at a solid football program against real competition since he was a freshman.  Love had one good year and got completely smoked when playing the same teams as Mahomes.

Henry is a beast but that OL is good and their two starting WRs are very good and make big plays.

Ryan Tannehill has been ridiculous since arriving in Tennessee.  In 26 games, heโ€™s thrown for 53 TDs and only 11 INTs.  His passer rating the last 2 seasons has been around 115 compared to a career rating kg 92.   Simply put, heโ€™s accurate and doesnโ€™t make a lot of mistakes.

Defensively the Packers have their work cut out for them and it ainโ€™t just defending against the modern day version of Beast Mode.

What needs to happen is GB needs to get a lead early and force the Titans to abandon the run.  Much like what the Packers did to Minnesota in their first game where Dalvin Cook was a non factor.   Thatโ€™s how you beat a team like the Titans.

If there is any situation where PSmith needs to redeem himself at setting the edge, it's this one.

Ideally we go for chunk yards and quick scores to gain early lead and force TEN to pass to keep up.  Then stick to the run and short pass game to keep the D off the field and limit Henry on O.

That said, I see our offense needing to be a big part of our D vs. TEN.   No 3&out's, stay ahead of the sticks and keeeeeeeeeep scoooooooooooring.
