Wasn't Harvin leading the league in receptions before he got hurt?

Jennings will get plenty of opportunities and he'll be the unquestioned #1 WR. I assume they offered more than GB did, so why would any WR want to take less money and compete with Cobb (who is only going to command more touches this year), Jones (who got hype and press for leading the league in TDs and probably deserves more balls thrown his way) and Nelson (who has also proven he deserves a significant number of passes thrown his way)?

What I've been thinking is if we resign Gerg who sits in 3 receiver sets? Not Cobb who is on the way up. Not JJ after an awesome season, he's earned the playing time. Jordy when healthy is a force and plays big. Can't see spending the money when we have other needs. Just not TT's style

Otoh, guy needs to make his money while he can. Anyone who says they'd do otherwise in the same situation is kidding themselves or is just plain stupid. Stats don't pay for retirement.
So he ends up collecting less than the $10 million per year Green Bay offered him before he hit the market, right? But probably a couple more years than "Tightwad" Ted was willing to lock him up for, too, huh?

(Note: Just being silly by calling Thompson a "Tightwad." Personally, I look forward to watching Sam Shields shut down Jennings twice per year for the next five.)

Jennings: "From a football perspective, when you start to age and get years under your belt, you want to go to a team that's a contender."

Jennings: "This happened before. I'm not the first Packer player to jump on this side."

Jennings: "You see a guy like All Day in that backfield and the cluster of guys in to stop him him, it's going to be a pleasure."

Love you Greg, but you are a Viking now. By default, that makes you a loser.

Let's not forget Jeremy Ross.

There is a reason Free Agency happens before the draft. Names fill seats. Draft picks win games. Don't ever let bad owners tell you differently.

Jeremy Ross is likely a returner only. Don't really see him as an option in the passing game in the future.

GB, as always, prepares well ahead for these things(it's why they drafted Cobb a few years ago) and they were interviewing WR's at the combine.
jennings importance to this offense is overstated givin the experience with the wideouts.if the O has any problems it will be because of Oline talent/injuries.

Pack is gonna be alright. We get a top5 defense put together and GJ will be a fart in the winds of Packer History.

btw, Not sad to see him go ... imo, he milked it last year and I did not like the tone in his voice during the course of the year. just me.
Good luck to Greg Jennings. He was terrific for the Packers minus last years injury plagued season. He positioned himself for the biggest contract he could get by making sure he hit free agency before 30. You could see it coming by the fact he would not commit to more than 4 years when he signed his GB extension. Who could blame him or his agent when they saw stupidity like Jacksonville demonstrated with the 1-year wonder from Dallas last year? Wallace to Miami was that only type deal this year but the Vikings provided a good save.

I still maintain Harvin (when he played)was more of a threat because QB's did not have to get him the ball or at least did not have to get it to him on anything beyond an extended hand-off.

Now. Get some LB depth at a bargain price (like D.J Williams). DB's are out there all over the place. Lock ARod and Claymaker up. Like now! Then draft.
Greg could still be a good receiver if he's healthy, and I have nothing bad to say about the guy. He was great in Green Bay, and I wish him the best. But the way I look at it, they let go a younger receiver with headache problems to get an older guy with headache and groin problems, and overpaid to do so, even after the additional picks they picked up.
"Again, I was looking for change," Jennings said.

Translation: I was looking for as much money as I could get.

Don't BS us, Greg. You weren't looking for a change. If the Packers offered you the big bucks, you'd have stayed.

It always comes down to money. And there's nothing wrong with that, so long as the players don't try to kid us.

Next man up. What young receiver will we develop that the Vikings can overpay for in 7 years?
