As long as Bob sticks to revisiting past personnel moves, and not predicting the future (ie, Packers built to win without Rodgers, Packers Super Bowl win shows they are a dynasty, etc) it makes good reading.

What was unprofessional was Rob Davis' actions. Kudos to Bob for calling him out on it.

I agree with you that, assuming the interaction between Cohen and Davis was accurately reported Davis was indeed unprofessional. I also agree McGinn is to be credited for calling Davis out for his boorish behavior.

Had McGinn done JUST that rather than injecting his personal feelings again and again throughout the story it would have been a much better piece. It would also have been more PROFESSIONAL.

I thought the original story by Cohen was some excellent reporting. What I didn't like was the constant hyping of the story in the days that followed. Made it seem like the point of the story was more to generate clicks than it was to provide relevant information.

If what Rob Davis did was true, and I have no reason to believe it's not, he deserves to be severely reprimanded.

I think Henry's post hits it. If you were under the illusion that the organization was somehow above the fray, then that's on you. But perception is reality, and there's certainly credence to McGuinn's claims.

And also to Henry's point, the team is lead by players who truly do fit that mold of "Packer People". But this is football- and you're going to have some folks that are simply not of the same caliber, but have a place in the league. No escaping this fact. Professional athletics are filled with unseemly characters, going all the way back to its origins. In the 21st century teams are no longer able to mask and hide the underbelly that has always been there. Maybe that's a tad cynical but nonetheless proven true in today's world of instant access and reporting.

As Wilde said the other day, and Tit linked the audio to the comments, someone in FL wanted the Guion story written. For some reason though all the regular guys (McGinn, Wilde, Imig, Hodkiewicz, Demovsky, etc...) stayed away from it and let the new guy write it. I find that a bit odd.

Good thing Cohan has big brother Bob to fight the playground bully.

All that said, Henry pretty much nailed it with his treatise on the previous page.

As others have said, Henry's post hit it on the head. What's puzzling is that they are pushing the edge to keep a guy like Guion who is, at best, a rotational guy at DT. It's not like he's a difference maker like Greg Hardy. Why even keep the guy from a purely football standpoint?

Guion has 5 solo and 4 assisted tackles in his 5 games. No sacks, 2 tackles for loss.

He had 3.5 sacks and really flashed at times last year, but Letroy has been pretty quiet this season (at least on the field).

Is he just playing fewer snaps or is there another reason he is having less impact this year?

McGinn and others have reported that he returned from suspension visibly "muscled up" and that it may have cost him some mobility.

He clearly had a lot of rust to knock off once activated.

Also, with Raji back and Mike Pennel playing well Guion is probably seeing less snaps than last season.

Pennel and Datone have really improved this season and need more PT IMO.

He's not playing less.

I think that sometimes the coaches fall in love with players they can count on vs guys who might not always be in the right position but have more upside. It especially seems like GB coaches are more concerned with how a guy practices and if he's perfect there he plays; if not he sits, upside be d***ed. We see it with Guion over Pennel, who seems to always make a play when he sees the field, but after the one big game he had with the interception etc., has seen his playing time go down. The guy just seems to make thing happen, yet he doesn't see the field much. Sometimes guys are more gamers than practicers. ("Practice? We talking about practice?") I get why coaches want guys they can count on, but if you have so many young guys you might need to take more chances. And it will only help them down the road as they get even more experience.

Dodge truck, $190,000 in cash returned to Letroy Guion
Dec. 8, 2015 8:09 p.m.

Defensive tackle Letroy Guion received his truck and $190,000 in cash back from a Florida police department after authorities seized it when they found three-quarters of a pound of marijuana, the money and a gun inside the vehicle during a traffic stop in February.

Starke police Capt. Barry Warren said Tuesday the case had been settled and both the truck and money were returned to Guion. Warren did not immediately have details of the settlement...

“It kind of rejuvenates me,” Guion told ESPN on Tuesday. “It gives me my sense of character back and gives me my juice back. I’m all excited and ready to go. Things are getting back to normal. All the smoke is starting to clear." ...

I say the fact that he was originally signed by the Vikings, imprinted him.

Love that he was busted at 4:20, though.

Broke by 30. Dead by 40. We tried, bro.

He signed an $11 mil contract last year and he can't get a taxi or Uber. What a winner. What a good investment by the Pack. At the very least, he's going to see his present 4 game suspension doubled to 8 games. Just cut him now.

GB has no financial incentive to cut him now before his original suspension has ended because he's costing nothing until then. If/when do they do cut him, it's like a 330k cap hit.

So likely, they will see if any significant injuries occur between July and week 5 then decide what they'll do. Of course, this latest dum dum move may cost him half the season, who knows.

But I believe he can still participate in all of training camp/PS and be a body in meaningless preseason games and save starters like Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark etc from having to play and risk injury.
