@AdamSchefter: Green Bay's Letroy Guion suspended first three games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Despite appeal, no reduction from original sanction if rumors were true.
Not surprised. Wonder if he got his cash back..
Not just yet.....
It was one Hell of a Christmas party at the station, though.
I almost changed my avatar to the picture above. Awesome!
Pretty good investigative piece from the JSO where they dig deep into what turns out to be the rather checkered past of Guion.
The swirl of legal issues surrounding Guion raises questions about the thoroughness of the character review by the Packers and whether the team and the NFL missed or ignored a deeper record of run-ins with the law.
Unfortunately, the piece really doesn't offer anything to help answer those questions.
Sorry michiganjoe but that post was a complete waste of time. If the name would have been Rice, Hardy or Peterson there would already be three pages of posts saying what a scumbag this guy is. But when someone wears the blessed Green Bay uniform...
I can't overemphasize how spot on accurate this point is
it's obvious Guion was framed.

Packer People.
Leave Letroy alone.
He may be a thug but he is our thug.....
I guess if nobody pays attention to your consensus boards...
You mean that TT finally signed a nasty defensive player? Sweet.
Guion is who he is, but he's been exemplary during his time in Green Bay, as far as I'm concerned.
Especially the time he got suspended for getting busted with 3 tons of weed. Exemplary.
Not in Green Bay.
Not in Green Bay.
Did AP whip that youngun in Minny or Texas?
I think what Timmy is trying to say is that his Thuggery hasn't impacted the local community. True, but I think the majority still has issue with such types representing The GBP and cheering for them.
Not in Green Bay.
Tie him down in the basement at lambeau?
McCarthy said he's not going to react to Letroy Guion article in the @journalsentinel: "I thought it was garbage."

good for MM. typical bye week useless pot stirring article.
While the domestic violence stuff is troubling on a personal level, the big-picture disturbing part to me is the hoops the Floriduh "law enforcement" types were jumping through to "justify" their civil forfeiture.
I don't give a **** about his issues with drugs. I haven't even tried pot before, but I do think it should be legal, but violence against women? Dude is scum.
If he hit his ex-GF (daughter's mother), then he is a POS.
That said, reading the reports in the links (quoted below), I could easily see a money grab scenario here from his ex-GF and her new BF.
Before the drug and gun counts, Guion had been charged in criminal cases three times. This includes a stalking charge and pair of domestic violence incidents that resulted in three counts of battery, including one where Guion was charged with hitting the mother of his child in the jaw.
The charges were dropped in two of the criminal cases. Guion paid restitution in the third and avoided additional punishment.
What I don't get is if the domestic violence stuff was so cut and dry, why wasn't he brought to trial? Isn't that the story? Is it the Hooterville-like atmosphere in Starke especially with the police department? Is domestic violence tolerated in Starke? I agree with H5, if he hit his ex-GF, then he is a turd. The problem is, I don't know what to believe. I don't understand the context.
Who said the DV case was "cut and dry"? Based on the cited article, it looks like it was anything but. Looks like a 3-way altercation with the ex and her new boyfriend. Who knows what actually happened. Plus it did go to court and settled with adjudication withheld. Letroy made it through the probationary period, then the case is dismissed. That was the deal, and he upheld his end. Kind of run-of-the-mill misdemeanor stuff there. It's not OJ or Ray Rice.
The pot case was potentially a much bigger deal. He definitely got a huge break there. And so far it looks like the near miss may have scared him straight.
I think MM nailed it. This is old dirt and it is stale.
Sad world we live in where pot possession is a "bigger deal" than a "run of the mill" domestic violence that involved a punch to the jaw of a woman.
Pot possession, unless it's intent to distribute, is a crime against yourself and yet is a "bigger deal" with tougher penalties when it shouldn't be. DV for hitting a woman, a crime against another person, gets a player a couple games off and then they come back to being treated as a star and cheered on by millions. It is a sad world.

You don't know that happened. There's no indication she was injured.
Guion paid restitution in the third and avoided additional punishment.
Sounds innocent.

There's marks on the guy. Nothing on her.
It sounds bad right? Exactly.
If Guion hit her or any woman, he's a POS.
As for the altercation with the other guy, who knows what happened in what sequence.
That was a separate incident and she was charged in that one.
My problem with Letroy isn't that he likes to kick back and blaze one up. I think people should be able to do that if they want. (Shows poor judgement though when it could cost you Millions) My problem with Letroy is that he is a dealer.
Recreational users don't purchase 3/4 of a pound at a time. That's equivalent to 128 cases of beer.
My math
1/8th oz is a equivalent to a case of beer (Nickle Bag). You could split it with a friend in one night and be torn up. If it's crappy Mexican brick, maybe you up that to a 1/4 oz but I doubt Letroy is into the Mexican brown brick.
3/4ths pound has 128 nickle bags.
Have you ever considered purchasing 128 cases of beer?
Letroy isn't a casual user. Our boy is a distributor. As it said in the article, the Police suspect that he is bank rolling and distributing and not just weed. Our buddy Letroy is not a good guy.
If people are of their own free will buying from their dealers, why is it a bad thing?quote:My problem with Letroy isn't that he likes to kick back and blaze one up. Well no sh*t. But the physical evidence is that he did not do that.
I agree in Principal. I'm for legal recreational usage.. But there is a difference in the mindset of a person who is willing to break the law when it only impacts themselves than there is someone who is willing to contribute to others breaking the law.
Throw in the fact the police think he is bank rolling or dealing blow / crack as well, not a good guy.
