she did ingratiated herself

"This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her. "To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone's sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating.

A friend of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo told us he was "80 percent sure" that Manti Te'o was "in on it," and that the two perpetrated Lennay Kekua's death with publicity in mind. According to the friend, there were numerous photos of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo and Te'o together on Tuiasosopo's now-deleted Instagram account.
How do we know his last name isn't really Hawk? Or Walden?

If football doesn't work out isn't he a slam dunk as a Match.com spokesman?

Did this fictitious online love send him a text of "her" dong right before the Championship game?

So many questions.
Read these by J Marten Troost, The Sex Lives Of Cannibals, and Getting Stone With Savages. This kind of stuff is quite common over in the islands. Very funny travel books by a easy to read author.

This kid just lost millions of dollars, on top of the millions he lost earlier with a horrendous performance in the biggest game of the year. Teams now have to be wondering if there is a deeper problem, ala Dimitrius Underwood, and questioning his character.

Most likely this started as a publicity stunt and it just got out of hand. Still... what a train wreck he's made of his life and reputation. It will be interesting to see what comes out next.
In what world does anyone claim someone is their girlfriend without ever meeting her. This is so over the top. this clown needs to come clean. He is digging a bigger hole every time he opens his mouth.

Story of Manti Te'o girlfriend a hoax
espn.go.com/college-football

Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua existed because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu went to do charity work in American Samoa in June 2011.

"This was before her and Manti," Mauia said Wednesday evening. "I don't think Manti was even in the picture, but she and I became good friends. We would talk off and on, just checking up on each other kind of thing. I am close to her family. When she was going through the loss of her father, I was -- I offered a comforting shoulder and just someone to bounce her emotions off. That was just from meeting her in Samoa."

A tweet posted Wednesday night by @LennayKay, Kekua's assumed Twitter account, read: "It isn't fair to drag Reagan and Troy into this.. a lot of truths and myths need to be addressed here, and they will be at noon PST tomorrow."

Mauia said Tuiasosopo -- whom Mauia believes is Kekua's cousin -- introduced the two. After the initial meeting, Mauia said he met her at an "after-party" for all of the athletes involved in the camp.

"She was tall," he said. "Volleyball-type of physique. She was athletic, tall, beautiful. Long hair. Polynesian. She looked like a model ... "

He said it is his understanding that Kekua's mother is operating her Twitter account. He said he'd never met her mother. When told by a reporter that she apparently might not have existed, Mauia said: "No, she is real."continue
Only way this story could get any better is if Lance Armstrong ends up being the one running the twitter in an elaborate scheme to divert attention from himself

Shocking. 64% of TimesFour? Goldie, Fedya, and Goalline claim fake boyfriends leaving them out of the 64%. Had I counted inflated girlfriends we're near 80%.

My boyfriend is real. Wait.

This. How many teams will have him off their lists?

P.S. Love the "Usual Suspects" reference above. Who is Keyser Sose? Maybe he is Kekua?

This would make for a GREAT "Catfish: the tv show" episode!

I'm real, but kindly stop claiming me as your boyfriend.
I am waiting to hear Te'o's account to explain some of the details of which I am more skeptical, but Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick's comments at this press conference last night clearly showed that he, and the institution, are 100% behind Te'o. He's a pretty slick lawyer and there is no way that he would stake his reputation on that defense unless he felt ND's investigation provided compelling evidence that Te'o was duped, and was a victim, not a perpetrator.

Te'o has finished his degree at ND, and ND could have easily distanced themselves from this. I think that Te'o is guilty only of being incredibly naive and trusting. He is a devout Mormon, and pre-marital relationships do not include intimacy, which explains why he was comfortable in the relationship and its online nature.
Alabama's running backs aren't even sure Manti T'eo exists at this point.

On a serious note. I love that people are buying Swarbrick's narrative. T'eo told you about this a month ago, but no one says a thing until Deadspin breaks the story. Riiiiight.

Exactly.

What I do wonder about is, T'eo finds out that the gig is up days before the National Championship game . Had to effect him. No doubt Alabama was unstoppable, but Man T'eo was awful. I've seen him play on several occasions...very good, over-rated, but an impact player against Michigan, Oklahoma, USC, etc....but damn he was AJ Hawk bad against Alabama .
Brent Musberger just stated "You see that lovely woman there? That's Manti T'eo's girlfriend. You linebackers at Notre Dame, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman!"

I gotta say, she is kinda hot.

I don't think this affected him at all in NC game. I think he just got whooped. Alabama has the best OLine in the country and their Center and Guards get to the 2nd level extremely well. And not only do they use great technique, they're also big and athletic. He got swallowed by that OLine and couldn't handle the violent running style of Eddie Lacey. Lacey runs like he's on fire and it's hard to bring him down when he starts churning those tree trunk legs. Teo is just overrated and this story speaks to his character.

What I don't get, in all this talk from Teo about how he was fooled or duped, didn't he at least want to go see where she was buried? If he loved her that much, you would think he would/could take a trip so see her grave? Surely Brian Kelly and Notre Dame would have obliged him...he's the leader of that D, he couldn't take 2 days off practice? Or what about the 30 days in between ND's last game and the NC game, he didn't go see her grave or her family during that time? And if he did, was he not freaked out to go to the cemetery and not find a grave? Or did the sadist behind this supposed cruel joke go to all the trouble of buying a plot, buying a casket, having a funeral and burying nothing? Doesn't add up. Sounds to me like a publicity stunt.
